When Nine stood at the front door of Lee and Cassy’s house, he wished he had a key to their place. His hand wavered in the air, and he felt like a coward, wanting to run. He made many mistakes, from leaving the house without saying anything to sleeping with Vee and almost giving in to Quin.
And the sad part of all this is that Nine still did not want to make a choice of leaving Quin. Yes, he is beyond hurt and still wants to see Vee, but Quin still has power and control over his heart.
If Quin ever uttered the words, “I love you,” to him, Nine would be the dumb one to take him back in.
At this point, Nine hated himself.

Still in his mind, Nine did not notice the door opening. Lee leaned against the door frame, his arms crossed as he sighed, detecting that Nine was in another world.
So he decided to break the hold on Nine’s mind, “Are you going to stand out here all day with your arm raised, or come inside?”
Nine winced when he heard Lee’s voice, quickly putting his arm down as he stood back. His heart was beating fast as he nervously laughed, looking left and right, “You scared me.”
Lee took in Nine’s appearance, stopping at the love bites on his neck and swollen lips. He raised his eyebrow, “Where were you last night?”
Nine bit his lip, glancing at the ground as he felt guilty once more. “I told you I didn’t go see Quin,” which is true, even though he saw Quin this morning.
“That is not what I am asking.”
Nine rubbed his neck, exposing the love bites more, “Are you still mad at me?” He evaded the question.
“If I were, I wouldn’t let you back in my house.”
“Then, can I come in?”
“Look at me first.”
Throughout the whole talk, Nine could not look at Lee. How do you face a close friend you ran out on, in secret, last night and did not tell them where you went after crying your heart out?
Gnawing at the bottom of his lip, Nine counted to ten before finally facing Lee. Lee did not look angry but more concerned for Nine, which Nine did not deserve. He would rather take anger because it would not make him feel like shit like he did right now.
Lee uncrossed his arms, grabbing Nine’s shoulder, squeezing it, “You know I love you, right?”
“I do. And I love you too.”
“Then don’t ever do what you did last night ever again. We were worried when we noticed you were gone and were not answering your phone. For a second, I thought you went to do something crazy. No matter what, we are always there for each other.”
Nine hugged Lee, pulling him in close, “I know.”
They hugged for a second longer before Nine felt his stomach growling from the smell inside the house. He pulled back and smiled, “Now, can I come inside and eat?”
Lee chuckled, moving aside, “Yes. You better hope that Jon didn’t eat all the food.”
“If he did, it is your fault, and I will tell Cassy you held me back from food.”
“She will understand.”
“This is bullying.”
Lee slapped Nine’s arm, rolling his eyes. Nine dramatically grabbed his arm while gasping before running towards Cassy. “Cassy! Lee is bullying me!”
Cassy crossed her arms when she saw Nine, “Good. That is what you get for ignoring our calls last night.”
Nine wrapped his arms around Cassy, rocking her while speaking in a baby voice, “Forgive me. I promise never to do it again. I love you.”
“If Jon cannot get me with baby talk, then you definitely cannot either.” Cassy stood her ground.
Nine looked toward Jon for help. Jon sat at the table with cheeks full of food. When he felt the stare, he shook his head, speaking with a mouth full, “Don’t look at me. Even though I wasn’t here last night, you still did wrong.”
“No one is on my side.” Nine faked a cry before trying to shower Cassy with kisses.
Cassy could no longer hold back and began laughing while slapping Nine’s thigh, “Okay. Okay. I forgive you, so stop kissing me.”
“Yeah; stop kissing my girl and kiss Jon or something.” Lee joked, taking a seat next to Jon.
“Ah, do you want kisses too?” Nine ran towards Lee, grabbing him while leaving kisses on his face.
“Argh, someone help me, please.”
Cassy and Jon laughed. “You are on your own,” Jon commented.
“Jon, my sweet child, don’t think I forgot about you.”
Before Jon could think of escaping, Nine jumped on him, showering him with kisses.
After a few more laughs and kisses, they finally settled down to finish breakfast.
Nine stepped out of the shower, wiping his hair when Lee walked in, leaning against the door frame. “So, where did you go last night?”
“I thought we were dropping it.” Nine answered.
“Nine, you know me; would I really drop it?”
Nine shook his head, sighing as he dropped the tower on the sink counter. He turned toward Lee and decided to get the conversation over with. “I was with Vee last night.”
“Nine,”
“What?”
“Why are you getting mad?”
“I am not.” Nine quickly responded, breathing a bit harder. He didn’t want to hear what Lee wanted to say because he knew Lee would say things that would make him feel guilty.
“I am not going to judge you, but-“
“There is always a but.” Nine commented.
Lee sighed, closing the bathroom door behind him as he stepped inside, “Listen to me, Nine. Don’t jump on the offensive right now; I only want to talk.”
“I am not trying to,” Nine took a deep breath, “I just know that you’re going to say all the right things I am afraid to hear. I never wanted this, Lee. I never wanted my life to end up like this. Furthermore, I am breaking at the seams and making all the wrong decisions, and quite frankly, I don’t want to stop.”
Lee grabbed Nine, pulling him into a hug, not caring that Nine only had a towel wrapped around his waist. He rubbed his bare back, “Listen to me. You know you can change the path you are going down on. But to do that, you need to start thinking clearly about everything.
“You need to sit down and ask yourself: do I want to continue to see Vee? Is it worth sticking to someone who doesn’t feel the same? And do I want to turn into Quin, continuing the same cycle?”
Nine rested his head on Lee’s shoulder, rubbing his cheek on it as he thought about the questions Lee posed. “I don’t know, Lee. I really don’t know.” He softly whispered. “I am stupid.”
“You are not stupid; you are only human,” Lee reassured.
A stupid human who cannot make a simple decision, Nine thought.
It’s so hard to let go of 7 yrs even tho it seems almost all of it wasnt rly anything good. I really cant imagine going through that. Wb n ty <3

I’m being bias but I really want Nine and Vee to be together. Like, can you blame me? It’s based on the way they treat Nine. Quin always makes Nine feel like he’s not enough. While Vee, as Nine said, makes him feel free.
Also, Quin is just being a total selfish ass.. “I can’t have you that’s why I have him. And if he leave me, I’ll have nothing left.” Damn you, you bastard!
There comes a time when enough is enough and one must move on. It’s about being happy. Even if he doesn’t love Vee maybe he’ll understand that he’s giving him the confidence to see that he doesn’t have to stay, he’s enough for himself. He’s enough for someone else and doesn’t have to be a replacement for anyone.
I really don’t generally tolerate cheating, but this story! It’s tiring for Nine’s part. Reading this chapter in particular, I just want Nine to suddenly breakdown in front of Vee so that Vee can realize his feelings and properly chase Nine.
