Translator's Note
The literal translation is:
‘Tan-tan’ sounds like a nickname for tànyuánzǐ, and tànyuánzǐ sounds like a Japanese name. Hz8iUq
In China, people repeat one of the characters of someone’s name and use it as a cute nickname. For example, the nickname of Yu Ran would be “Ranran”, or “Momo” for Yan Mo. Of course, it doesn’t apply to everyone, for example, Hehe for Cui He sounds really weird. Anyways, carbon atom = 碳原子 = tànyuánzǐ, so as per Yu Ran, its nickname would be tantan.
And, in Japan, many names end with the character 子 (pronounced as ko in Japanese), such as Keiko, Aiko, Chiyako, etc. That’s why, Yu Ran says 碳原子 (tànyuánzǐ) sounds like a Japanese name.

It’s a wordplay of ‘pure’ and ‘poor’. XbnUBy
Literal translation would be:
Cui He: “Yu Ran, are you a fucking unmarried huánghuā (pure/virgin) miss from ancient times…”
Ye Xi: “Yu Ran is a huánggua (cucumber) boy.”
Explanation: gp2Jab
黄花 = huánghuā = a young virgin/ a pure youngster.
黄瓜 = huánggua = cucumber. 小伙子 = xiǎohuǒzi = young guy, lad, etc.
Hmmm are tomatoes mixed with sugar good? Does it cut through acidity? I really like them with just salt. Also Yu Ran is too goofy. Dude didn’t even realize he was pining over Chu Mian. Cui He is a true wing woman.
Probably? Its cold tomatoes mixed with sugar. So the coldness might make the whole thing taste good? Although, I personally haven’t tried it yet.
Yes, tomato and sugar does taste good. In my opinion, it does cut though some of the acidity.
Thank you for the update ❤️💯
One ‘I’m missing you’ from Yu Ran is enough for Chu Mian to write his name three times. I wonder if Yu Ran’s name will be repeated more in the notebook? WUUWUW. They’re so cute! Thank you for the update <3
