Luca was dragged out of the office and both were headed towards out the building. Hirokazu quickly made a call to let the coroner know they were coming over there. After the call, Luca remembered to ask him.
“Hey, Hirokazu? Why are we going out? Isn’t the autopsy room in this building?”
“Well due to budget problems we could only get this place, minus a few rooms so on badgering the higher-ups for a few years we got them to cough up some extra budget and since we can’t exactly get a whole new place, we got another one with a couple more extra rooms for our officers to rest in and for the essential rooms.” Hirokazu grinned at Luca as he explained the situation, but for a moment his focus was captured by someone behind Luca. Hirokazu spotted a decently dressed man, who was pretty sweaty and looked half calm and half nervous, singularly looking around himself, as he quickly walked away from crowds. He soon knew who that was.
“Hirokazu? What’s up?” Luca almost looked back to see what he was staring at before Hirokazu grabbed his hand and shook his head and held up a finger to indicate he had to keep quiet.
Hirokazu went to Luca’s ear and whispered in the softest of tones with his breath tickling Luca’s ear. He would’ve blushed but he heard what he said next which got him serious.
“I saw the serial rapist from the wanted posters, but I don’t want to alert him of my presence so let’s tail him first…”
Luca understood the situation, then had a brilliant plan to make his capture a bit more fun, and he told him which got him smiling from ear to ear. Nothing is stopping them from causing a little excitement while catching crooks.
The two quickly went to the popular carriage ride service offered in the park and even cut in front of a bewildered couple, who were from a troupe of actors, which was obvious due to them still staying in their eye-catching work clothes. Hirokazu immediately flashed his ID to them and asked if they could go first and Luca asked if they had a wig handy so that they won’t get too many looks. After all, it still wasn’t common for two guys to be together in their era and more so this openly. Shame for the humankind to not have changed their stubborn views, but change is inevitable and it will be common enough one day.
Lucky for them, the couple did have a long wig on them and due to Hirokazu losing to Luca in a game of Rock Paper Scissors, he donned the wig with a grumpy look making Luca laugh with delight as he snapped a couple of photos on his phone that would be the first few of many to come in the future. This wasn’t exactly in the plan, but it was a fantastic add-on to it anyway.
They told the carriage driver to follow the bastard, but to preserve a small distance behind him, but enough that they can easily pass him in a second. The boys sat in their spots with eagerness to arrest the criminal. As they were rather close to the criminal they had to sound like a couple, so Luca spoke up first.
“You look sensational today, my darling!”
This got Hirokazu sputtering and he immediately replied in a soft tone to sound like a young lady.

“Of course! I’ve got to look my best for you, my dashing prince!”
The driver in the front was used to this as they couples he gave rides to usually speak like this, but it was unbearably hilarious to hear this from the two boys in the back, so he had to bite back his laughter as he rode on with a serious look, after all, he couldn’t notify the criminal with suspicious behaviour.
“How was your day? I hope it wasn’t too unbearable without me, but it was truly a daunting task to await the minutes before I saw you.”
Hirokazu was dying of laughter at how adept Luca sounded at wooing a girl, but he was sort of moved inside as he saw his earnest face and had red ears which were thankfully covered by the long wig.
“Oh, my dear!” Hirokazu had tossed himself onto Luca, who was shocked but played along fantastically.
“Look at you, oh sweetheart, are you crying? There, there, my dear, I’m here for you!”
Luca then gave the signal to the driver to speed upwards to the culprit’s side and stop at a bit of a distance in front of him.
Hirokazu got up first at a pace matching the culprit’s speed and slowly walked to the doorway of the carriage and held it in a hesitating manner and turned to face Luca and slightly leaned on the door that was latched as the culprit wasn’t close enough yet. Luca was a bit shorter than him, but appearance-wise, they seemed like a cute couple. Luca leaned towards him and it seemed like he was about to give him or in this case her a kiss. This made Hirokazu panic and fall back and leaned more on the door which couldn’t hold his sudden weight and it got unlatched a bit, but luckily Luca caught him and it looked like something out of a movie. He pushed the door while holding Hirokazu closest to him.
The door was opened with great force at a perfect moment and hit the culprit square in the face, making him pass out from the pain. Hirokazu immediately threw the wig onto the seat of the carriage as he separated from Luca, and easily apprehended the culprit as Luca stood to the side watching him. A couple of passersby clapped for them and Luca smiled at them as he helped to load the bastard onto the coach. After giving the wig and thanking the sweet couple, dropping the criminal to the station, and paying the carriage driver for his trouble, the boys continued their journey to the autopsy room.
After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Hirokazu spoke up.
“Um, thanks for catching me… I think I get how you felt when I caught you at that time?”
Luca chuckled and waited a moment before properly replying.
“Count this as payback for that time, but this was in front of strangers instead of our classmates, so you are very lucky! But I think your lovely photos make up for that. Wait till I show this to Ash and Lily!”
“Oh goodness no! The image I carefully built up in their minds will crumble…”
“What image do you speak of, my dear?”
They looked once at each other and break out laughing.
Soon they reached the building and made their way to the autopsy room to check out the body, on reaching there they met an old man who was leisurely playing chess next to the body as though it was his opponent. I imagine it does get boring in there with no one but dead people.
“Hey Uncle Mo, got any updates on the video game boss? Oh, and this is Luca, my new partner from now on, who I told you about over the phone.” Hirokazu went right up to him and gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder.
The old man silently scrutinized the boy beside his young friend. He was someone who was quite renowned in the police community due to his precise and extremely helpful information about the corpses and had powerful influence even over the Chief of Police, who was his dear friend. His young friend was someone who he favoured a great deal due to his likeable personality and his mother. His mother, who was an absolute powerhouse that dominated every room she entered, but still made everyone have favourable impressions of her and thankfully he inherited plenty of good qualities from her. He found this boy’s new partner an interesting subject. He appeared to be a child of great wealth but had a good temperament that is not seen much in youths his age. He had intelligent eyes and a fantastic attitude with a graceful aura that can’t be underestimated. His hands indicate he wasn’t grown pampered either and showed he held some cards up his sleeve. Looked like the perfect partner for his friend who was quite rash and quick to act when excited.
Luca kept quiet as he let the old man read him as he seemed different than most older people he encountered. Perhaps his grandfather would be like him if he was alive today? That old coot being from that sort of background might even possess an even more powerful gaze. Luca even gave this old man a smile that would make most people shudder in fright, but this only made poor Hirokazu’s heart thump a bit faster, much to his confusion.
“Nice to meet you, Dr Mo! My name is Luca Carlucci and I’ve had the pleasure of becoming Hirokazu’s partner recently.”
The previous man had an impressed look before appreciatively grinning at Hirokazu.
“Wow boy, you even made someone from the Carlucci family to be your partner! How are your medical skills, kid? I’m sure you would be amazing and I hear they start training from a young age?”
Hirokazu looked surprised that Luca’s family seemed to be some big people in the medical industry. Luca gave a cordial smile as he responded.
“Oh, thank you for the praise, but my skills aren’t that perfect yet even though I was made to start training from the age of 10. At most, I can assist with most procedures but I’m yet far off from my goal. My father is the one who merits the praise more.”
Hirokazu looked shocked to hear training begins at the age of 10 in the Carlucci family. Why in the world would people make 10-year-old brats study medicine when they should be brats?
Luca saw his astonished expression and gave a smile, before explaining about his family.
“Don’t seem so surprised! I demanded to start this early since I was interested in my father’s work when I was supposed to start once I’m fifteen. My father seemed like a God when I first watched him at work and I wanted to be like that. Plus, my family is a very progressive one. I’m surprised you haven’t heard of us… Perhaps our fame lies more in the medical field.”
“You wanted to be God? Um, my social circles aren’t very large in that field as the only source of that is Uncle Mo.”
“Nah, but who wouldn’t want to be a god? But I liked the smiles of gratitude he received from the patient and their family. Worth the daunting procedure that takes hours. And that figures why you don’t recognize us. My father is rather famous for his medical papers and so is my grandfather.”
The old man seemed to like this brat more and more, but remembered the subject at hand.
“Cute talk boys, but let’s come down to business. The adult male was found on his desk with 2 prints for himself, which were of himself and the dimwit who manhandled the body in the name of checking if he was alive. When they found the body, the body had only been dead for a few minutes. There was the presence of his heart medications and some sedatives which are fishy. The stab wound was deep and required a good amount of strength. The weapon was a common kitchen knife and would be available everywhere and it was found next to the body. I’ve performed an even more thorough check on the stomach contents and valves, the sedatives and heart medications were taken at the same time, which is odd considering the number of years he had been eating these and it was common knowledge that it was a big error to do, so I suspect foul play. Catch hold of the other people’s statements and perhaps you can solve it.”
Luca and Hirokazu looked at each other and nodded. They were sure Ash and Lily would do an impeccable job with that aspect.
Merely to have not missed anything, the boys checked out the body and referred to Uncle Mo’s documentation. They were able to pick out an odd coloured hair strand on the victim that didn’t belong to him, thanks to Hirokazu’s amazing vision. After bagging that clue, Hirokazu and Luca stood up to depart.
“Thank you, Uncle Mo! You were a great help. We’ll attempt to send the suspects’ DNA to you since those people have got to consent to it and that may be tricky. I’ll present the rest of the team next time. Two others are gathering evidence.”
The old man felt proud of the kid as he appeared to have found reliable teammates. He waved the two off and wondered what they’ll perform next. And he quickly presented the new evidence, how he missed that would be a mystery.
Luca and Hirokazu were pretty content after nabbing a criminal and getting some valuable evidence, so now they headed back to their new headquarters to see Lily and Ash.
Now all the pieces will come together and the truth will be exposed!
