“Prince Cyn is here, taking over for his siblings. And on my way here, I heard about you getting locked up because they suspect you of being a traitor. Damn, Nabu, are you playing with your life? What if they decided to kill you right there? What is Kiyt or I supposed to do if you were gone?” Ghost sounded close to breaking down even though no tears appeared.
Prince Nabu felt his heart breaking at those words. He never wanted to hurt any of them. “I am sorry, Ghost. My sister is doing this to take the throne. I swear I would never do anything to hurt you.” And he took that promise, or vow even, to the grave.
“You promised never to leave us; I may have ignored those words long ago on the surface. But, they cut me so deep, Nabu. I knew from the moment I laid with you, I would break.”
Reaching through the space the bars held with his free hand, Prince Nabu touched Ghost’s face, softly caressing it. Ghost leaned into the touch, making Prince Nabu wish the bar did not stand between them. He wanted to hold the man, who he loves with everything, in his arms.
It would have been easy to leave if he told his family the truth because he had never been good at making up lies. But, that would lead to the death of his family. He did not want to lose what gave life to him.
“What do you want me to do, Ghost? Any choice I would take will lead to destruction. I don’t want to lose you or Kiyt, but what am I to do?” Prince Nabu begged for any type of answer. He had held a positive mindset for so long. But hearing the pain from Ghost’s voice had him breaking under every pressure.
No one could ever affect him as this beta did.
Ghost stood silent for a second longer before moving back, pulling out a key. He unlocked Prince Nabu’s cell, opening the door as he walked inside. Pulling off his mask, Ghost grabbed Prince Nabu’s hand, “Do you promise never to hurt and leave him?” Ghost asked.
Prince Nabu pulled him closer, taking in the assassin that would always make him feel like he was on top of the world. “I promise never to hurt and leave both of you.”
“Is being with us truly where you want to be? Because once I do this, there is no going back, Nabu. We are breaking so many rules. This path will only lead to our deaths.” Ghost is breaking too many rules for Prince Nabu, and there is no stopping his descent.
“Where else would I rather be if it is not with you two? Do you not see how much I love you two or how far I would go for you two?”
“I do, and no matter how many times I wish for it not to be there. I keep contradicting myself. Tell me, Prince Nabu. Tell me you want to stay. Please, I need to hear it.”
“I want to stay.”
It was all Ghost needed to hear as his lips descended on Prince Nabu. They kissed like there was no tomorrow. Their lips moved like a dance before their tongues tangled, almost devouring at this point. Prince Nabu tightly held onto Ghost, scared that all this was a dream and Ghost would slip from his arms.
But the arms wrapped around his neck, the scent consuming his senses, and the feel of Ghost’s lips on his felt too real. The beta was with him.
When they separated, breathing hard as they rested their foreheads on each other, Prince Nabu asked, “What do you want to do next?”
“You already know the answer to that.” Ghost answered before coming for another kiss.
Two hours passed when a guard came down to check on Prince Nabu. They have been busy keeping the event under control that they haven’t checked on the prince. When the guard stepped down, seeing an empty open cell without the prince, he knew the king would kill him.
He ran out, finding another guard to help him search for the prince secretly before the king found out.
Where did the prince disappear to, and how did he escape?
Note: Ghost did not leave his job just yet. He is still an assassin for Prince Cyn (it is really not easy for him to leave).
On another note, since my eyes are worsening (well my left one more specifically), I am going to do the three chapters every other day rather than daily. I need to go to the eye doctor, and I am too broke to until I get paid on Jan 20th. So, I am stuck with my problem until then and want to limit my time staring at a screen because I think it is also making the problem worse. Sorry!
