a dream within waterCh72 - long lost comfort

The congee warmed his stomach, making yesterday’s events seem like a faraway nightmare. A cool towel was pressed against his forehead again, making him flinch away. He frowned and attempted to push the persistent hand away, but Gui Linghuo didn’t relent.

Yankui glanced at him irritably. J3f0TO

“Your fever won’t go down if you don’t do this,” Gui Linghuo said.

“I’ve never done this before and all my fevers have gone down by itself,” Yankui protested.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Just be good. It’ll go down faster and you’ll feel better sooner,” Gui Linghuo said.

“I don’t like it,” Yankui mumbled. “It’s wet.” fdOX7h

Gui Linghuo felt a bit incredulous. He thought about it for a moment before he wrung out the rest of the water and gently cooled it with his spiritual energy. He put it back on Yankui’s forehead.

“How is that? Is it better?”

Yankui pursed his lips before he ate another spoonful of congee. “Mn.”

Gui Linghuo softly shook his head.

The entire ordeal started late last night.

Gui Linghuo had gotten up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. On his way back, he thought about checking on Yankui.

The young man was covered in cold sweat and would not stop shivering. He curled in on himself and clutched his stomach, but to keep from making any sound he had bitten his lower lip until it began bleeding. When he realized Gui Linghuo was in the room, he made a poor attempt at appearing normal. Seeing this, Gui Linghuo could only stay.

He spent the entire night tending to Yankui until his fever had gone down and only left to get a few hours of sleep. He returned later with medicine and lightly salted congee. qLxiNm

Now, in the morning light, Gui Linghuo fell silent as he watched Yankui eat. His eyes softened as he looked at the unfamiliar yet vaguely acquainted young man before him. The phoenix eyes had been exactly the same as from that day. And the features Gui Linghuo had long imagined slowly filled his face. Pointed lips, a sharp chin, and jade-like skin. The only difference was that his cheeks were flushed from his fever, completely obscuring the ghostly pallor he had previously carried.

Yankui took another bite and tentatively glanced at Gui Linghuo. “Why are you…staring at me like that?”

“Nothing. I just never noticed how handsome you were.”

Yankui’s eyes widened. He choked on the congee and coughed loudly. BVdnsG

Gui Linghuo took the bowl away and gently brushed a hand up and down his back. “Eat slower.”

Yankui glared at Gui Linghuo through reddened eyes. This wasn’t a matter of whether or not he was eating slowly, okay?!

Gui Linghuo smiled innocently. He set the bowl aside and checked Yankui’s temperature again. “It’s subsiding.”

He took the bowl and patiently fed Yankui after the coughing had stopped. bsdFeK

“I can feed myself,” Yankui said.

“I know,” Gui Linghuo said. He smiled as he gently blew at the congee to cool it down. “It’s been a while since I’ve taken care of anyone. I suppose you could say I missed it.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

What else could Yankui do after hearing these words? He ate whatever Gui Linghuo held out to his mouth. And when the medicine came, he drank it without protest and was rewarded with two pieces of candy.

Yankui moved the candy around in his mouth and glanced at Gui Linghuo. QDHUb8

Aside from complimenting him on his looks, he didn’t say anything else. Although this should be preferable, Yankui felt an odd tightness in his chest.

“Oh, right, I have to leave the sect tomorrow,” Gui Linghuo said.

The candy rattling in Yankui’s mouth slowed. “Where are you going?”

“Birthday banquet,” Gui Linghuo said. “Everyone said they were busy, so that only left me to go in Yunjing Pavilion’s stead. You can come if you want, but it might be boring.” aDjqYC

Yankui pursed his lips. “Am I allowed to go?”

“You’re a guest of Shuangye Peak. Why wouldn’t you be able to go?” Gui Linghuo said.

Yankui glared at him. “You know why.”

“I offered for a reason,” Gui Linghuo said. “If I didn’t want you to go, I wouldn’t have offered.” R47rUS

The tightness in Yankui’s chest made it hard to breathe. He flopped back and forth for a while before he leaned forward and hit his head on Gui Linghuo’s shoulder.

“Don’t do that, you’ll hurt your head,” Gui Linghuo softly muttered.

Yankui hummed. “I’ll go.”

“Alright,” Gui Linghuo smiled. “Good. Then, it won’t be as tedious.” LAUwZO

“You’re being too nice to me,” Yankui said.

“I don’t know what you mean,” Gui Linghuo said. He stood and gathered the empty bowls. “Rest for today.”

“Are you coming back?” Yankui asked.

Gui Linghuo’s smile widened. “If you want me to.” Yn1EPm

“If you want to,” Yankui said.

“Then, I’ll come back after I grab some paperwork.”

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Yankui nodded.

The door closed and Yankui flopped back on the bed. He buried his head in the blankets and let out a quiet scream. He lifted his head and pressed a hand to his chest. Did the suppressant carry a new type of poison? If not, then how come his heart won’t stop beating out of his chest? Was he ill? Was he going to die? gM9EZz

No, that was impossible. That disgusting man must have added something to the suppressant. Yes! That’s it! Stomach bugs weren’t enough, so now there was something that affected his heart! That was the only reason!

Gui Linghuo returned with writing implements and the paperwork he needed to finish. He stilled when he saw the pillow on the ground and the lump on the bed. He raised a brow as a quizzical smile crossed his face. He put everything down at the desk, picked up the pillow and walked it back to the bed. He set it down and sat down on the edge of Yankui’s bed.

“What’s wrong?” Gui Linghuo asked.

Yankui started. He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he hadn’t realized Gui Linghuo had returned. He wiggled further away and clutched the blanket over his head. ZCs3T2

This had to be what embarrassment felt like, right?

Gui Linghuo’s smile widened. He reached out and patted Yankui’s back. “A-Kui—”

“Don’t touch me!”

The shrill protest startled Gui Linghuo. He pulled his hand back and was met with the head that had just popped out from the blankets. Yankui’s face was bright red as he glared at Gui Linghuo. The sight stunned him. The younger man took a deep breath to calm himself. RiQXtT

“And don’t call me A-Kui.”

“Then, A-Yan?” Gui Linghuo said.

Yankui’s face warmed further. “That…is also…”

A young man’s distorted cries rang in Yankui’s ears. It made Yankui’s heart throb horribly. He clutched the blankets and shrank into them. C6xFK7

“A-Kui is better.”

Gui Linghuo chuckled. He rubbed Yankui’s head. “Alright, A-Kui.”

Yankui’s head shrank further, as he tried to avoid Gui Linghuo’s persistent touch. He glanced up at Gui Linghuo and felt a surge of anger. He kicked Gui Linghuo off his bed.

“I thought you had things to do!” Yankui shouted. nc1Npy

Gui Linghuo laughed. He allowed himself to be nudged off the bed. He walked over to the desk and looked up at Yankui again. The young man was suddenly caught staring. His face, which had just returned to its normal color, reddened again.

“Stop staring at me! Are you a pervert?” Yankui scolded.

Gui Linghuo bit back a smile. He picked up his brush, spread out the paperwork that had been sent to Shuangye Peak, and began to read through them. Once he wasn’t messing with Yankui, his playful expression became serious.

Seeing that Gui Linghuo really wouldn’t look over again, Yankui settled and watched him silently. A27D8Z

Gui Linghuo was a very handsome man. Everything from his face down to his fingers were perfectly structured. Yankui couldn’t help but think that even his skeleton was handsome.

Despite having holes burnt into the side of his head, Gui Linghuo managed to finish his work by the time evening rolled around. He glanced over to Yankui, who had fallen asleep sitting up and smiled. He stood and walked over to tuck him in properly.

The young man’s head lulled against Gui Linghuo’s arm and shifted even closer to the new source of warmth. Gui Linghuo’s smile widened. He carefully put his head down on the pillow and pulled the covers up to Yankui’s chin. He sat down on the edge of his bed and brushed back the bedhead that hadn’t been tamed for the entire day.

Gui Linghuo took his hand back and watched Yankui sleep for a while. 8nTPfJ

“I’m glad you’re alive,” Gui Linghuo whispered. He gently patted Yankui’s chest. “I’m really glad that you’re alive.”

This was a life that Li Yan had traded hers for. No matter if he was a ghost cultivator, human, or spirit, Gui Linghuo didn’t care. As long as he was alive, Gui Linghuo could at least comfort himself and say that Li Yan hadn’t lost her life for someone as pathetic as him.

Gui Linghuo stayed at Yankui’s side for a while before getting up to leave.

When the doors closed, Yankui’s eyes opened. He touched the warmth that lingered on his chest and turned his back towards the door. His burning cheeks and palpitating heart kept him awake for a few more hours, but he eventually fell asleep and carried the warmth with him into the next day. k8ePUz

“Are all buildings in the Upper Realm this ostentatious?” Yankui asked.

Gui Linghuo smirked. He rubbed Yankui’s head. “Mn. The people in the Upper Realm love showing off their wealth, even if it’s all that they have.”

The other cultivators who were walking up the stairs alongside them glanced over. They were curious to see who in their midst had such a big mouth, but when they saw the yellow and turquoise uniform, they all smartly turned away. At a time like this, against Yunjing Pavilion’s people, it was best to remain quiet.

Yankui noticed the way everyone shrank back into their shells after seeing who had spoken. He scoffed in contempt. What cowards. FTJNGd

Gui Linghuo gently tugged Yankui closer to his side as they caught up with most of the crowd. His movements were practiced and casual since he was used to herding Shan Yu and Qin Siyi, but this casual touch was foreign to Yankui.

The younger man froze up the moment the warm hands landed on his wrist. Even through the gloves, Yankui could feel Gui Linghuo’s touch clearly. He couldn’t help but glance down at the hand that remained against his skin. The touch of the soft fabric was maddening, but Yankui couldn’t exactly guess why.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

When the two of them made it to the top, Gui Linghuo clasped onto Yankui’s hand and beelined for the sect leader, who was the main character of this birthday party.

“Happy birthday, Sect Leader Ke,” Gui Linghuo said. “May you continue to live many more years and lead the Liulong Ke Clan to prosper even more.” 20ZKjL

The middle-aged looking man grinned when he heard Gui Linghuo’s birthday wishes. His servant came to take away the gifts as Sect Leader Ke looked Gui Linghuo up and down.

He let out an exclamation. “Yunjing Pavilion? You are…?”

“I am Lord Ninglan’s head disciple, Gui Linghuo,” he said with a humble bow. “This is my companion, surnamed Yan.”

Yankui glanced at Gui Linghuo but didn’t bother questioning him. He mimicked Gui Linghuo’s bow, but didn’t go quite as low. LcrdxF

Sect Leader Ke hummed in recognition. “So, you’re Ninglan’s boy! You’ve grown so much, I hardly recognized you.”

Gui Linghuo smiled politely. He didn’t bother saying that they had hardly seen each other at all.

“What? Someone from Yunjing Pavilion is here?”

“Well, I’ll say! I never expected someone from Yunjing Pavilion to attend! And Lord Ninglan’s head disciple nonetheless!” VF6wla

Sect Leader Ke laughed happily. He turned to Gui Linghuo. “Xiao Gui, how about staying here for a few drinks? Your companion is also welcome.”

“I shouldn’t, Sect Leader Ke,” Gui Linghuo humbly declined. “I was only meant to drop off your birthday gift. I’m afraid there are still things I must attend to back at Yunjing Pavilion.”

“Business to take care of?” someone sighed. “It must be hard on you kid!”

“No sect master and no shizun,” another person commented. “The poor kid must have a lot on his plate.” DMByQG

The surrounding people murmured in agreement. Yankui frowned slightly and glanced at Gui Linghuo. He glanced down at their hands that were still intertwined behind Yankui’s cloak. He gave the warm hand in his a soft squeeze.

Gui Linghuo glanced over and smiled softly. He tickled Yankui’s palm back in response.

“Then isn’t that more a reason to take this time to relax?” Sect Leader Ke drunkenly exclaimed. He sighed and put a hand on Gui Linghuo’s shoulder. “Xiao Gui, you flew all the way out here after all! Eat a little something and have a few drinks before you go back and slave away!”

A chorus of agreement followed Sect Leader Ke’s declaration. hfP6Gk

Gui Linghuo smiled a thin-lipped grin. “Then, if everyone here doesn’t mind…”

Gui Linghuo was tugged away to a seat. His hand held Yankui’s tightly until they sat down. He thought about letting go, but when he saw that Yankui hadn’t even moved, he shifted their hands and intertwined their fingers instead.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Yankui glanced down in surprise and slowly averted his gaze.  If he pretends like he didn’t notice anything, then he wouldn’t have to acknowledge it.

The night drew on with more cups emptied by Gui Linghuo, rather than the people pushing them onto him. Yankui frowned and tried to intercede, but his hand was pressed down. He met Gui Linghuo’s eyes and quietly went back to eating the fruits on the table. GxvfUA

“Mm, Xiao Gui, how old are you now?”

“Me? Twenty-five,” Gui Linghuo answered.

“Twenty-five and allowed to be peak lord!” someone laughed. “They’re just getting younger and younger.”

Another sighed. “It’s not like they have much of a choice, do they? Before, it was Lord Kui who sacrificed himself to seal up that great demon. Today, it’s Lord Ninglan who went missing because he was in that nasty battle. The people at Yunjing Pavilion sure know how to play hero, but they don’t even bother to think about what the kids are gonna do once they’re gone!” y2Yum8

“Once they’re gone? Mind your nasty mouth,” someone retorted. “Kui Wanming’s shattered weapon was found, so he was clearly dead. But Gui Qinle? Not a body to be found.”

Yankui could feel the hand in his tense. He glanced at Gui Linghuo’s glassy eyes and felt a sudden sense of urgency.

“That’s right. Poor bloke,” someone sighed. He grinned and slumped forward. “But say, don’t you think it’s quite lucky? Without any achievements, a little kid like you gets to become a peak lord.”

A few others laughed. V1B RT

“It’s acting peak lord! Acting!”

“Acting my butt. It’s been nearly two years or something, hasn’t it? Two years and not a single piece of news! Pretty soon that prefix will be done away with as well,” someone laughed.

“Then, let us first offer our congratulations to you…little peak lord!” another drunkenly slurred.

Seeing the cups pushed in Gui Linghuo’s direction as a congratulatory toast, Yankui felt fury coursing through his veins. If he felt that way, then how on earth would Gui Linghuo feel? f1dzhd

“Ah, right, right. We shouldn’t talk like that around Xiao Gui!” someone loudly whispered. “After all, Gui Qinle isn’t just his shizun, he’s also his adoptive dad, right?”

“Ah…that’s right!” someone giggled. Their eyes fell on Yankui and they drunkenly pointed. “Are you sure he’s adopted? Look. He has that habit of picking up boys that Gui Qinle had when he was young!”

“A boy?” someone else scoffed. “But I heard a rumor that Xiao Gui had a woman.”

“That young woman died, remember? It was…Yin Hua’s Palace’s Young Lady!” yJiLqv

“The young woman who died…hah! Looks like that Shuangye Peak curse is continuing!”

“What curse?”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Haven’t you heard? Every peak lord in Shuangye Peak has to go through an ill-fated romance. Kui Wanming went through one and there’s a rumor that Gui Qinle had also fallen in love with someone he shouldn’t have.”

“But hold on, if it was a woman before, then, why are you suddenly finding a boy? Was that little lady just someone you used to disguise your true nature?” twd5af

The table flipped and skidded to the other corner of the room.

The people who had been chattering away happily all fell silent. They watched as the docile boy, who looked as beautiful as a doll, slowly stood with Gui Linghuo leaning against him.

“My apologies, everyone,” Yankui coldly said. “Our family’s Acting Peak Lord seems to have had too much to drink. I will bring him back first.”

The crowd said nothing as Yankui dragged Gui Linghuo out. 3YHzfI

They were all powerful people who shouldn’t be afraid of a young man like him, but when they saw the split table and smashed plates, the survival instinct in their guts told them that it was better to not interfere any longer.

Yankui didn’t care if his actions would cause future problems. His blood was boiling from the absolute nonsense he had been forced to listen to for the past two hours. His grip on Gui Linghuo’s waist tightened as he carefully walked them down the stairs. Once they were far enough away, Yankui stepped into the shadows and closed his eyes.

A moment later, they were stepping out of the alleyway in the closest town. Yankui dragged Gui Linghuo to an inn, got a room, and was prepared to throw him on the bed and leave him there so he could cool off elsewhere.

However, he couldn’t leave in the end. GeUxtv

Yankui’s wrist was caught. Gui Linghuo pulled him down and hugged him tightly. The hug would have crushed any normal human’s ribs, but it was just acceptable for someone like Yankui. He grunted in discomfort and tried to pull away, but Gui Linghuo hugged him tighter.

Yankui was about to yell at this drunkard and slap him away, but the black veins that crawled up Gui Linghuo’s neck made him pause. His body relaxed against Gui Linghuo and he hesitantly hugged him back.

Ghost qi enveloped the man in his arms. His eyes had turned bloody red as his face convulsed. He held onto Yankui tightly, but there was still some restraint to his actions.

“…Medicine…” F63vob

“Hm?”

“Medicine…in…pocket,” Gui Linghuo squeezed out.

Yankui’s brows furrowed. He managed to reach into Gui Linghuo’s pockets and pull out a few vials, but that was about as far as he could go. Gui Linghuo’s grip on him tightened and hatred seemed to roll off his body in waves. Yankui stilled for a moment.

He could break away now and knock Gui Linghuo out, but another part of him almost felt guilty doing so. ayA4lB

He didn’t know much about Gui Linghuo’s illness, but from just now, he could assume why he forced himself to be so even-tempered and uncaring about most things that had happened the past few weeks. Clearly, if he found a traitor, he should kick him out, right? Obviously, if someone yelled at him and called him an idiot, he should be angry and shout back, right?

For Gui Linghuo to be unable to hold back and get to this point meant he was furious, but he still couldn’t let out his anger.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

Yankui frowned. He hesitated as he held the medicine bottles in his hand. He lifted a hand and gently placed it on his back. It was an experiment. Yankui didn’t want to be too hasty.

He slowly drew the ghost qi away from Gui Linghuo and absorbed it himself. His eyes brightened when he found that it really worked, but he also knew the risks. If he took too much, Gui Linghuo’s vitality might be affected. It seemed that most of the ghost qi was gathered around his soul. Yankui pursed his lips. He placed the vials down and hugged Gui Linghuo tightly. iveKHy

“You’re angry, right?” Yankui whispered. “If you’re angry, then just be angry. I’ll hold you. I’ll make sure you don’t lose control.”

Gui Linghuo’s eyes widened.

His fingers dug into Yankui’s back, causing them to bruise. The last of his self-restraint threatened to fly out the window as he listened to Yankui’s words. The promise was like a siren’s tune, drawing him closer and closer to death. However, he could feel what Yankui was doing and each time his anger surged, he could feel it slowly subside again with Yankui’s help. A part of him slowly believed Yankui, but the more rational part of him told him not to.

Yankui was placed by his side for a reason. Although he didn’t know the reason, he shouldn’t trust him with something like this. It was fine to be his friend. It was fine to keep him company, but when it came to his illness… xbvt0U

“It’s okay,” Yankui reassured him. “I can take it. You won’t lose control.”

The corners of Gui Linghuo’s eyes stung. The injustice he had to endure and the anger he had shoved deep down surged within him like a tidal wave that had just broken through a dam. The veins on his neck bulged and the burning in his soul felt as if it could explode at any time.

Yankui softly patted Gui Linghuo and clumsily coaxed him. He felt hot tears roll down his neck and touch his clavicle. The hands that hugged him tightened even further, making it difficult for him to breathe. He ignored the warmth in his cheeks as he carefully absorbed every bit of Gui Linghuo’s resentment, distilled it, and carefully placed it back in his body.

Hours later, Gui Linghuo’s grip on Yankui finally loosened. The black veins receded and did not appear to have grown. In fact, they might have even shrunk. Yankui’s body was burning with the new power. His eyes flickered with green flames, but he chose not to deal with his problems first. He6GXu

He carefully pulled back from Gui Linghuo and carefully looked at him.

The man stared blankly at Yankui as tears continued to roll down his cheeks and splashed against the back of Yankui’s hands.

His anger had subsided. All that was left was sorrow, once again.

“It’s okay,” Yankui awkwardly muttered. He clumsily wiped away Gui Linghuo’s tears. “It’ll be fine. They don’t know what they’re talking about. I believe that you really love that girl. Because you do! You can like both women and men anywa—wait, what am I saying? We’re not—no, um, anyway, your shizun will come back! Of course, he will! Everyone says he’s super powerful, right? And when he comes back, he’ll teach them all a lesson for bullying you. So, don’t cry anymore, alright?” dgNbcB

Gui Linghuo took in Yankui’s frantic expression. A small part of him wanted to smile, but when he acknowledged it, his tears fell even faster.

“Um…uh…f-first, take your medicine,” Yankui quickly said. He fumbled for the pill bottles and managed to shake out a pill from each bottle. He lifted them to Gui Linghuo’s lips and looked at him expectantly.

Gui Linghuo held Yankui’s gaze and slowly ate each pill from his hand. Once they were swallowed, the weight in his chest lessened. He watched Yankui’s worried expression for a moment before he fell forward and rested his head against Yankui’s shoulder.

“You…are you sleepy?” Yankui softly asked. He brushed a hand against the back of Gui Linghuo’s neck. “If you’re sleepy, then let’s lay you down first. You shouldn’t—” Bh1pxn

A pair of strong arms circled around Yankui’s waist.

“Are you that drunk?” Yankui asked. He gently massaged the back of Gui Linghuo’s neck. He patted the man’s arm. He could feel the man nuzzling against his neck.

Please visit chrysanthemumgarden (dot) com

The instinct to reject him was strong, but Yankui forced his frantic nerves to calm down.

“I’m not your A-Yan,” Yankui whispered. His brows furrowed tightly as he remembered the girl’s dying screams. His grip on Gui Linghuo tightened. “…I’m sorry.” uJcE9w

Gui Linghuo pulled Yankui closer to himself. “I know. You’re not Li Yan. You’re Yankui.”

Yankui pursed his lips. “Alright. Then, it’s time to let go—”

“Don’t,” Gui Linghuo said. “Don’t leave me.”

Yankui’s eyes widened. His grip on Gui Linghuo loosened as his heart clenched. eOsoyv

“Just a little longer,” Gui Linghuo begged. “Just a while longer.”

Yankui could feel his boiling blood slowly calm down anyway. He relented and closed his eyes before hugging Gui Linghuo closer to himself.

“Only if you want,” Yankui said.

“Tell me you won’t leave me,” Gui Linghuo mumbled. “Please?” h0mU9J

“I won’t leave you,” Yankui promised. He gently stroked the back of Gui Linghuo’s head as Gui Linghuo had when he was sick. “Everything will be alright. You don’t have to worry.”

Gui Linghuo nudged his nose against Yankui’s neck. “Can you say my name too?”

Yankui gulped. “Linghuo.”

“…Mn.” O98Kwz

“Linghuo, I won’t leave you,” Yankui whispered. “You’ll be fine. Your shizun will come back.”

Gui Linghuo nodded and burrowed himself further against Yankui. “A-Kui.”

Yankui felt the tip of his heart tremble. He silently opened his eyes and sighed.

Oh, he was in big trouble now. EBeMvJ

i’m not used to getting answers this fast akxbakdn Gui Linghuo knows a substantial amount (not the why; which i also havent guessed) and Yankui is indeed the beauty!! …ough my heart;;;;; (tho also laughing at Is This Romance or Poison? akxbakxh eternal question, could also be a general health concern).

VER EXCITING: YANKUI DOING THE ABSORBING THING!! Yankui comrade, i hope you get so powerful you can beat up your dad, i believe in you (๑˃ᴗ˂) i will go beat up all those other guys at the birthday party myself >.>

    thanks for chapter!!

  2. I am truly missing Gui Yin even though this chapter was really cute y’know. It is jarring to see Linghuo like very matured when before he was just a cute lil boyo playing grown up adult and all.

I also really want Gui Yin to be the embodiment of the “aren’t you tired of being nice? Don’t you just wanna go batshit crazy” phrase and just like slam centipede demon through like 7 mountains. It does seem very uncharacteristic of him though, like, he’s just a lil man who wants to go back to lazing around, probably does not accumulate anger and blow up though. You know, I don’t really think we’ve seen Gui Yin angry sad-yes, bitter-yes, irritated-yes, self-deprecating-yes, but not angry. Wonder if he’ll ever get that angry to do something like that, probably not though.

  3. Also my theory for this chap is that the centipede demon is the man that yankui is referring to because when gui yin first went undercover i think his official position in the cult was called the saint or smth like that and maybe yankui got experimented on like the kunlun peeps but they actually succeeded with achieving whatever they sought out to do? And like I think GLH is similar to GY because GLH is starting to dress more like GY and in this chapter too sm1 was like GY also used to bring boys around. And the boy in question was probably the centipede demon or GY used to know that boy but then the centipede demon took over him.

And the scorpion demon Qiao ceng got chained down after GY’s whole sect went down, right. So maybe Scorpion demon sent centipede demon to seduce GY and since the centipede demon is still alive he is using the same tactic as that time and sent yankui to seduce GLH. I think centipede demon’s ultimate goal is the resurrect scorpion demon.

  4. need gui yin awake and checking with his son so badly right now. was this the rebelling you wanted old man. was it. (/pos im enjoying myself grandly)

i’ve been leaning centipede-related myself but in this chapter i was feeling like, with all the emphasis on similar syllables… surely bringing up kui wanming’s not a coincidence? and what’s that about Another ill-fated romance in our sect’s history?? we’ll see dkjddk i’m excited

and these kids uhm surely they’ll be fine? they can change the trend to be less disastrous. i have faith in them. im back to being very worried for linghuo’s mental state, though 🙁 poor kid. but at least they can bond over being not-normal-humans together, that’s important!!
