Chasing GameChapter 20

Finally done with the day’s work, Qian Sijia did a big stretch, then lifted her sore arms and massaged her equally sore neck. After packing her bag, she remembered that she hadn’t eaten dinner yet. As she left the office building, she planned to go to the nearby convenience store to grab some bread to fill her stomach.

It was raining outside. As Qian Sijia closed her umbrella and walked to the store, she almost bumped into someone before entering the store. 23k4Ed

The person apologized first, and as Qian Sijia heard the words, she froze. She slowly raised her head and stuttered, “X-Xu Xingzhe?”

Xu Xingzhe was stuffing something into his bag and paused as he heard someone call his name. He looked up and smiled suddenly, “Jiajia, long time no see.”

Xu Xingzhe hadn’t changed much, his features had matured slightly, but he still looked young, especially his eyes, which widened in surprise and retained the childlike quality. Despite obviously being 26 years old, he was still carrying a student-style backpack that was half unzipped, revealing two boxes of condoms that he held in his hand and had not yet had time to put in.

…Maybe not so childish after all. CBASE1

Qian Sijia had worked in the capital and only returned to Xicheng this year, so it had been a long time since she had seen Xu Xingzhe. They chatted for a while under the eaves of the convenience store to catch up on old times.

“Are you still with Lu Zhaoshen?” Qian Sijia asked cautiously. After all, she remembered Xu Xingzhe as someone who easily lost interest in things and could not stick to anything for more than a week.

Xu Xingzhe laughed, “How do you still remember that?”

“Well, back then, Lu Zhaoshen came to see me. He was concerned about your condition and often asked me how you were doing. When you finally came around and focused all your attention on studying, he came to me again to ask for your test papers so he could help you correct your mistakes and collect them. He was afraid you’d recognize his handwriting, so he had someone else copy them for you… I used to think you were in unrequited love, but later I thought, maybe everyone expresses affection differently.”

Xu Xingzhe was silent for a long time after hearing this. The rain grew lighter. Qian Sijia heard Xu Xingzhe speak with a nasal voice, “Yeah, he’s the kind of person who is full of affection but only shows a part of it, hiding the rest in the little interactions.”

Xu Xingzhe sniffled and then regained his composure, a grin spreading across his face, “That’s also good. It feels like I can feel his love for me a little more every day.” IC1hHw

Qian Sijia was stunned by his words. The drizzle continued to fall from the eaves, and the street was bustling with people. Suddenly, Qian Sijia felt a little lonely.

She said to Xu Xingzhe, “Let’s grab a meal together sometime.”

“Sure.”

After Qian Sijia left, Xu Xingzhe waited at the entrance for a few more minutes. Soon after, a black car stopped in front of him. The window on the front passenger side rolled down, revealing Lu Zhaoshen’s face. 6NACSu

The 26-year-old Lu Zhaoshen was already a mature man, with distinct features and neatly slicked-back hair. His glasses covered his attractive eyes, and when he turned his head, he seemed to have an iciness that could make people afraid.

But Xu Xingzhe wasn’t afraid. He dashed out into the rain and ran to the car. He quickly opened the door and sat inside. Then he giggled at Lu Zhaoshen, “Didn’t I tell you not to pick me up?”

“Did you bring an umbrella?”

Xu Xingzhe curled up his lips, “No.” 1yTv2K

Lu Zhaoshen reached over and wiped a few raindrops from Xu Xingzhe’s temples. Xu Xingzhe seized the opportunity and leaned forward to kiss Lu Zhaoshen.

“What’s up?”

“Nothing, I just suddenly felt that you’re so handsome,” Xu Xingzhe urged Lu Zhaoshen to drive and said mysteriously, “Hurry, hurry home. I have a gift for you.”

Lu Zhaoshen glanced at Xu Xingzhe’s bag and then at the convenience store and understood everything. GzNyDc

“Okay, let’s go home,” he said.

  1. To be honest I have a little problem with their relationship as I can’t fully grasp and understand it (。•́︿•̀。) At the beginning it was just a youthful obsession which later developed into something more as they both matured and steped into adulthood, but the pace was fast and sometimes even abbreviated that made me not fully content (´ー`) The other characters were more like helpers or sidekicks, not full-fledged characters. BUT it was still a nice read for boredom~ ヾ(๑ㆁᗜㆁ๑)ノ” It was quite interesting to see XXZ’s tempers and LZS tries to put them down, haha~ Thank You sososososo much for Your wonderful work and sharing this novel with us! ♡(ŐωŐ人) Take care and hope to see You with other projects! (♡ >ω< ♡)
  2. Thank you for finishing this novel! It was a good read even though I wished it was longer 🫶

  3. Short but sweet. When you realised lu zhaoshen loved xingxing as much or perhaps even more but had to conceal it due to their family situation 🤧 glad they found each other <3

  4. Ahhhhh this was so cute!!! such a sweet fluffy story with just the right amount of angst thrown in as an accent. I loved following their progression – in the beginning I was mad at Xu Xingzhe for being so pushy, then I was mad at Lu Zhaoshen, then I was REALLY mad at their dads… phew, what a whirlwind for 20 chapters. The author really draws you along and reveals things at just the right time. Thank you for translating it!

  5. Literally sobbing in bed at 2am i have work tmrw :’ ) i shouldn’t have started this at midnight lol. i’m just a sucker for misunderstanding and requited unrequited love tropes sigh good stuff.
