Shen Yu selected the Profile picture and clicked on [add new] by using the screen pop up. The Screen buzzed as he stood and let it scan him. The pictures that came out were rendered from all angles, and Shen Yu chose the one which showed his face and shoulders, a standard official profile. Then he chose the option [HOME], going back to the home screen, and selected the [LIVE] option.
It took him straight to a page which was packed full of recent live sessions, and even the popular ones of the month. Shen Yu had no interest in checking out the others, but he was here to do business. He clicked on the [search] option and boldly wrote, [Black Ticket Holder Code Name Hunter most recent live].
It got him the result he wanted, there were several feeds which were 3 years older and had a lot of likes, dislikes and comments. Some of the feeds were even marked as [Restricted] because Shen Yu knew that the things said on those live sessions were too sensational. Well, he was just here to visit the profile of this video creator, which went as [HunterKai_MatsudaClan].
The profile picture was that of Kai Matsuda, sitting lazily on the window sill, looking out with an equally lazy smirk on his face. He was actually not strictly of Japanese descent, so his eye structure and face cuts, the basic look was very different than that of his fellow clan members, but he did have a slenderer physic with less bulk and a set of dark Matsuda eyes and hair.
The picture was ‘sexy’ and ‘playful’, like every comment on that profile stated, which Shen Yu didn’t have to look at to know, he had gone through it the first time Kai uploaded the picture. His private account was still following this account.
Shen Yu clicked on the like button right next to the picture and got off the search tab with hidden satisfaction. He couldn’t follow Kai because his father might notice it, but he had liked the profile picture, which meant that future feeds would be suggested to him even if he didn’t follow the profile. It was good enough to keep tabs. Although he did have a private account, it was easier to be prepared on both IDs, what if he was busy on the official ID and missed the update sent on his private one?
If Kai ever visited his account and saw the notification, he would know Shen Yu got his ticket, and then maybe, he would contact him… which wasn’t possible, considering Matsuda and Shen clan didn’t see eye to eye and Shen Clan hated big wigs like Matsuda clan who were into demonic cultivation. It was well known to everyone that Righteous path and Demonic path cultivators never saw eye to eye, so it wasn’t anything shocking. And since Kai’s Golden Ticket turned Black, everyone in Shen Clan looked down on Matsuda Clan even more. Out of all people, the older generation always followed clan propriety and cultivation anecdote, Hunter was an eyesore to them.
To the entire world, Kai Matsuda, a.k.a Hunter, became the Rogue Cultivator the moment his Ticket Changed to Black. An event which sent ripples in even the Demonic circle. Shen Yu himself had seen the mission unfold, the mission world was left unstable by the time Kai was done with it. To some it was simply shocking, to some it had been astonishing, and to some, it was entertaining.
The mission had been to protect the Alpha warriors of the beast tribe from extinction and bring peace, because the omega clan had tried to bring in a revolution towards all the injustices that were done to them. And in order to achieve an equilibrium, the omega clan had decided to kill those who had harmed them, and keep those who were siding with them.
It was a very high level mission task because Kai had used the Golden ticket’s recommended mission task. Unlike what was expected, he disregarded the senior transmigrators who followed the mission, and set his own path. He did save majority of alphas, but he also killed both omega and alpha sides who were extremists, leaving out only those who wanted peace and a new democratic legislation.
The most shocking thing was, that Kai ended everything within a month’s time, completing the main mission task with 100% accuracy. But he also killed many to bring peace, and this was going against Rule number 45, [Mass Killing is Forbidden until Specified in Mission Task].
If Kai hadn’t been in such a rush, the usual pattern was to calm the mass hunt, maintain stability and bring in laws which protected both parties. The peaceful way of doing things without going to extreme lengths. Because life was life, killing wasn’t favorable until the mission task said so. Nobody was a saint, but everyone treaded carefully, taking things slow, with minimum damage to life, better outcome than just going on killing sprees.
However, Shen Yu begged to differ.
He never thought Kai was just killing indiscriminately, the extremists that were targeted by him had been major warning signs. If they were left as they were, Shen Yu believed they would bring harm to society in future, a repeat like before. It was better to uproot the cause then to let it germinate.
Of course, he didn’t believe that Kai handled this well, he was too rushed and his actions looked indiscriminate. Some minority did side with Kai, but majority didn’t like this violent approach. Shen Yu always felt that there was a reason for this sudden action, Kai wasn’t a man who dived straight into physical offence, but Shen Yu didn’t know, so he didn’t try to guess.
Many thought his Ticket would be terminated by the Universal Laws, but Kai was unfortunately fortunate, he wasn’t barred from entering another mission world… his Ticket just changed color and went Black. A major stain to his name and career.
Tickets had been colored according to their significance. A Golden Ticket meant, higher task difficulty, or higher civilization setting, or a high spiritual world. Shen Yu wanted to choose a Golden Mission with high spiritual setting. Whether task difficulty was high or low, he could see it if he asked in the data base of mission worlds. It was easy.
But even these mission worlds had complications which couldn’t be predicted, so based off on the adjacent tasks, previous tasks, one could predict the future task assignment.
Shen Yu was aware of 5 Ticket colors and what they entailed, but like everyone else, the exact detail of the Black Ticket was unknown. Because in past, very few got the Black Color, and those who did, they quickly jumped to other colors by doing the mission task suitable for that color.
No one actually explored what the Black Color meant, if someone did get curious, they probably worked on it in secret, Shen Yu didn’t know those clans, they most certainly were the underground clans. And to everyone’s frustration, Kai always kept his live sessions turned off when in mission world, the only 12 hours of feed that viewers received was of him sleeping during the day. It was impossible to tell what he did during the time when his transmission was out.
What people were aware of was a Hunter, who never got into contact with other transmigrators when not in group task, even those who actively searched for him couldn’t find him. Even in group missions, his interaction was strictly limited to business. He always came out of every mission world with the same black Ticket. It obviously meant that he was a defaulter in every mission world.
Many had also made assumptions on what the Black Ticket could mean when selecting a world, because somehow, Kai could select any world type he wanted, even those who were specifically for the Golden Tickets. It was one of the reasons why Shen Yu hoped Kai would select a Golden mission with high spiritual energy this time, because otherwise, either Shen Yu would have to follow him to a mission world with lower spiritual energy or Shen Yu would have to select his own mission world and stay where he was for another five years or more. Yes, majority of upcoming mission worlds had a longer task duration.
Shen Yu had his reasons in searching for Kai.

It was still unknown on what basis the Ticket color was decided… Shen Yu was happy to receive the Gold though, even Kai received a Gold Ticket for his first time, it was somewhat meaningful to Shen Yu.
Kai was so powerful, being on the same starting line as him certainly meant that Shen Yu had a lot of potential, it was a good thing.
