Far from the fire that inflamed the barrage, Shen Yu had settled himself in his new scheme. He would learn from Kai, follow Kai, while Kai would assign him tasks when he wished or call for assistance when needed. It was a temporary partnership with no known boundaries, it would end when it was seen fit, after all, things would have to be considered again at a later date. 

Although Shen Yu was still thinking about the impact of his decision, he was also quick in taking in the current situation of their mission world. Shen Yu wasn’t in a rush to take care of other matters at the moment, his focus had directly shifted to his target.   EYAldB

“What place is this?” he asked softly, trying to forget his discomfort, sorting out his emotions.  

He sat on the pool edge, looking inside the pool with a lingering curiosity. But, still a little out of it, his low mood was sober yet his heart was hurting with loss… he was just making conversation to get over his depression. And maybe participating in something would give him that comfort.

“We are currently very far from human civilization,” Kai spoke casually, his eyes pointedly looking at the woods on the edge, “I couldn’t go too far from here so I was on a lookout around a certain range. We do have eyes here but none which matters.”

“…are they elves?” Shen Yu guessed, a little alert, “I think this pool is called Haauza, it is a bathing space for older elves.” it seemed to be a hidden knowledge that his elf side had learned from whispers and talks, though Vinir never visited this place personally.  

“Older elves?” Kai mumbled, sounding amused, “then they were scared away by those hidden in the dark… no wonder.” 

“Do you think it is a clue to what is happening with the mother tree and those dark elves?” Shen Yu wasn’t very eager to carry out the mission, but for his own sake he had to find more clues. 

“Maybe, possibly, who knows, we will get it after some looking around.” 

“Then,” Shen Yu turned to Kai, whose dark figure was almost merging with the shadows. If one saw such a horror scene… 

It was kind of scarier than knowing they were being watched, “How did you find me? What happened after I fainted? I can’t remember much.” Shen Yu was reluctant to remember, but he couldn’t find it in himself to completely forget.

Kai didn’t immediately answer back, his lips curving as if thinking of something… then he just gave a calm sigh, “It was a coincidence that we met, fortunately I saved you in time… I didn’t do anything to that mother tree, it was just some scaring with my aura, no particular showdown. Though if you want I can do that.”  

Narrowing his eyes, Shen Yu stared at the ‘hero’ who saved him, a feeling of unrealism still inside… he was with Kai, Kai saved him, he was looking at Kai and they had reunited… “Why didn’t you kill the tree?” 

Kai chuckled, his eyes saying, ‘where is your brain little one’, “Generally the branch mission or hidden mission is related to place of birth, so that tree or that tribe must be important to you in some ways. If not, then I will happily destroy it for you-”  q8j2wb

“No need,” Shen Yu felt his eyelid twitching, “We need to save them from mass extinction.”

A warlock was the dark embodiment of magic. 

While a wizard, the counterpart, was seen as good and kind, was chosen as ally because they would help people achieve their goals. Warlocks, on the other hand, were good at deceiving people, viewed as someone evil? But Shen Yu couldn’t be too sure about this world.  CbdUjm

“A Warlock is a dangerous profession…” Shen Yu reminded Kai, knowing well that his reminder didn’t hold much weight. Kai was strong, there was seldom anything which scared him. So, Shen Yu changed his question, “Did you make contact with others?” he was sure it hadn’t been too long after the mission started when he was attacked, so it meant that Kai must have entered Scavendel right after appearing here, and moreover, Kai’s hidden mission must be very different from his own. “Did you appear here in the wilderness?” 

“Right, this poor fellow, Malcum, he ended up dying in search of some special ingredient for his potion,” Kai tutted as he flicked his dark hair back, “he was running low on mana and got attacked by someone. I concur his goods were stolen as well. There was nothing on me when I woke up, except for a small dimension pocket hidden in my robes.” 

Oh. 

There was silence around them as Shen Yu digested the facts, then he heard Kai talking again, his tone of voice mellow and rich, slightly low pitched and very masculine, “I have some memories from this body but I cannot be too sure of what is really going on here, we need to keep moving around and learn more.”  aHU87g

As it should be, Shen Yu nodded, deciding to share his own findings so far, “This body belongs to someone named Vinir, he was killed by the mother tree…” 

After listening to the incidences that happened before, Kai’s first reaction was to let out a small ‘oh’ and he looked rather unperturbed by what Shen Yu said, as if it was just a story or a local folklore. Maybe it was… to Kai, things that didn’t concern him didn’t faze him, “And what else?” he questioned. 

Shen Yu felt… embarrassed. He wanted to smother the guy. 

What else? That was all he could manage to get, although just a small detail, what else could he say? That he broke his dantian before he could understand other details?  40IPvi

“Oh… so that was all.” Kai realized when he saw the little one looking somewhat… aggrieved.

The barrage was laughing and crying when they saw this scene. Except for the majority who didn’t comment, were blocked mysteriously, or those who had mixed feelings about Shen Yu, the Black and White fans were enjoying the show. Some neutral passersby also got curious.
