Shen Yu accepted the tray, taking a look at the hot serving, his sister was really gentle with him, it always made his nose sore. It was rather difficult for him to share his emotions with others, so in response, he heard himself speaking rather coldly, “Care about yourself first, do you even have time to worry for others.”
Shen Yue though, didn’t seem to take it to heart, she most likely got the message, if her smile was anything to go by, “I am fine brother, Older brother took care of my problem.” She had matured over the years into a beautiful young lady, her upturned eyes sparkling with mirth. Even without trying, she stood out in a room full of dark interior and old wood, her presence rather bright in a dreary environment.

And nature always felt pleasant to look at, it didn’t scold Shen Yu for his weak dantian, or body full of impurities, it didn’t scold Shen Yu for not even completing the 1st stage of Qi Condensation. Being from a rich clan, his father had tried to cure his ill body with special pills and herbal miracles, he even went as far as exchanging precious rewards from mission worlds to get something that could enhance Shen Yu’s cultivation base, yet nothing worked, wouldn’t work until Shen Yu transmigrated to another mission world with abundant spiritual energy, the only cure for his weak absorption rate.

It had gotten to a point where his clan was thinking of sending him off to some distant island where he could breathe his last. His mother had fainted in anger when she heard of it being suggested in the council, yet she couldn’t do anything about it, her life was no better than his, at least he wasn’t punished for getting up late. His father was cruel at heart, so strict and narrow minded that their branch had stopped flourishing.
Gritting his teeth, he tried his best not to think too much, or else his blood pressure would increase and the impurities in his body would harm his own dantian. He had yet to take up a mission world, he was waiting for the right opportunity. It was a miracle he survived through everything. He wasn’t this ill when he was younger, but with age, the accumulation of impurities made his situation worse.
He looked up at the sky, the orange glow of the sun shedding everything with an evening hue, it was strange how their world was still alive after everything that had happened in the past.
Mankind had destroyed everything, nuclear bombs and bio chemical wars were everywhere. It took no less than a few months to go into mass extinction, yet at the last moment when most were dying, their hope for survival and remorse at their own horrors had given birth to a strong will to live, and it resulted in the arrival of Universal Laws. Cultivation – the process of improving health, increasing longevity, and growing powerful. This is accomplished by cultivating Qi and training in martial & mystical arts. But since Milky Way Galaxy has only a limited amount of Spiritual energy suitable for cultivation, many aspiring cultivators would choose to gather Spiritual energy from Mission Worlds that are present in other galaxies.
Qi/Spiritual energy – the vital energy which exists in all things, the natural energy of the world.
Cultivation Method – a mystical art or collection of techniques which cultivators practice in order to cultivate.
Cultivation Base – the amount or capacity of refined Qi possessed by a cultivator.
Manual – a book containing detailed instructions on training in a cultivation method or martial arts style. Usually regarded as extremely valuable and thus kept secret (or at least, not made publicly available).
Spiritual Roots – the very foundation (roots) of one’s body and soul. Associated with a person’s innate talent and elemental affinities. Cultivation usually requires some minimum level of innate talent, and many people find it impossible to even take the first step. Rare individuals may even have special Spiritual Roots which allow them to cultivate quickly or grant them other benefits. For example, someone with “fire spiritual roots” might learn fire spells more easily than their peers.
Inedia – the claimed ability for a person to live without consuming food, and in some cases water.
Dantian – Refers to the region in the body where a person’s Qi is concentrated. The lower dantian is located three finger widths below and two finger widths behind the navel.
Meridians – the network of vessels/channels in the body through which Qi flows. Like blood vessels, but for Qi instead of blood.
Qi Circulation – the act of controlling Qi to flow from the dantian, through the meridians, and back into the dantian in a cycle. Usually it helps replenish stamina, purify the Qi, or strengthen the meridians.
Bottleneck – the term for when cultivators figuratively hit a wall in their training and it suddenly becomes incredibly difficult to proceed. When they reach a bottleneck, cultivators may require new Insights, the aid of medicinal pills, or even harsher training in order to make a Breakthrough and successfully bypass the bottleneck.
Impurities – usually described as a smelly, black substance which is secreted from a cultivator’s skin when they reach new cultivation stages or consume special medicinal pills. The result of the body purifying itself and expelling the waste.
Qi Deviation – A state wherein the cultivation base becomes dangerously unstable, causing internal damage to the body and symptoms of psychosis. People who succumb to their Internal Demons, who practice cultivation/martial arts incorrectly, or who rashly use forbidden arts are all at risk of falling into this state.
Demonic Path – A Shadow path – usage of moonlight – pact with demonic creatures – pact with demonic spells/dark spells – usage of blood and shadow – cultivation practiced at night – follows strict hierarchy – easier to climb up ranks but difficult to maintain
Righteous Path – A Light Path – usage of sunlight – pact with beasts of light – pact with angelic spells/light spells – usage of goodwill/merit and lighthood – cultivation practiced during daytime – does not follow hierarchy very strictly – difficult to climb up ranks but easier to maintain
