I will attempt to keep terms consistent with prior chapters, but may change some to those that I think sound better or are more accurate. If you read this on the previous site I posted on, please note I’m going through the chapters and am changing spirit grass/herb/medicine, etc. to spiritual grass/herb/medicine, etc. All terms with “ling” (spirit) will be changed to “spiritual” for more accurate grammar except for spirit beads and spirit stones (the currency of the cultivation world).

*Ordinary people are people without spiritual roots who cannot practice the “normal” type of cultivation you usually see in novels (i.e. immortal cultivation). So in this system, instead of layers of Qi Refining, they have layers of vitality, of which I believe there are also 9 layers and they are roughly equal to the nine layers of Qi Refining. However, after this basic level, usually in novels immortal cultivators have the advantage as they can go further in strength. Anyway, I don’t think this comes up again in this novel, but just thought I’d explain for those less familiar with cultivation novels.
