After Marrying The Villain, I Became PopularCh89 - “Don’t worry”

When Xia Yang found out something happened to Xia Chenglin, he was drinking at a bar.

This bar was owned by one of Xia Yang’s former friends, Liu Shun’er. iDOrac

The reason why Xia Yang called Liu Shun’er his former brother is because now Liu Shun’er avoids him completely.

Liu Shun’er used to be a good brother of Xia Yang, who was good at licking and flattering.

Because of this, Xia Yang would often do favors for Liu Shun’er, making his life easier. However, Xia Yang’s family was going through tough times financially. Despite this, Xia Yang would still come to Liu Shun’er’s bar to drink and sometimes get drunk. This behavior made it difficult for Liu Shun’er to ignore Xia Yang’s troubles.

Another reason Liu Shun’er tolerated Xia Yang’s behavior was that he was waiting and observing the situation. vIfKu0

What if there was still a chance for the Xia family to recover from their difficulties?

As humans, it’s wise to plan ahead and keep multiple options available in case things don’t go as expected.

Despite Liu Shun’er’s struggle to ignore Xia Yang’s actions, Xia Yang continued to behave recklessly without showing any restraint or self-control.

Xia Yang was unsure whether he felt anger towards Liu Shun’er’s change in behavior, leading him to intentionally provoke or disgust Liu Shun’er, or if he simply didn’t realize he was spiraling into despair. Each time he visited, Xia Yang not only indulged in the finest wine as before but also caused trouble when he got drunk, adding to Liu Shun’er’s headaches.

D37gOk

Liu Shun’er had reached a breaking point where he could no longer tolerate Xia Yang’s behavior.

But tonight, after widespread talk about the Xue family’s acknowledgment, Liu Shun’er quickly realized that the much-talked-about young master from the Xue family was none other than Xia Wan, who had been consistently ignored and neglected by the Xia family.

For the first time, Liu Shun’er was completely certain that the Xia family was finished.

He peered out of the window from an upstairs office with just one glass pane, looking down below. xao 8N

He had hastily set up this office to avoid Xia Yang. It was much smaller and simpler than his usual office, and not nearly as clean and cozy.

Xia Yang was already drunk, surrounded by stacks of empty wine bottles. Knowing his usual behavior, he would likely ask the waiter to keep opening more bottles for him.

Liu Shun’er squinted his eyes and frowned so much that it looked like he could crush a fly. When he saw Xia Yang standing up shakily, he quickly put out his cigarette and signaled some security guards to follow him out.

Since Xia Yang was not helpful, there’s no point in keeping him (XY) around. SFf2xa

After letting Xia Yang eat and drink for free for so long, Liu Shun’er believed he had been very generous and fair.

After exchanging a few polite words, it would be ideal if the other person understood what was happening. That way, both parties can still maintain some dignity. However, if the other person remains clueless about current events. Liu Shun’er sneered unconsciously

Xia Yang drank a lot. When he stood up from his seat, he accidentally bumped into a chair with his foot. He almost tripped over.

“Hey brother, why did you drink so much again?” Liu Shun’er smiled and lent him a hand, then signaled to the waiter who had come over after hearing the commotion, “Hey, why don’t you go get another bottle of good wine and bring it over?” kVWI0D

“Okay,” Xia Yang said, as he watched the waiter walk away. Slowly turning back around, his eyes were red from the wine as he spoke to Liu Shun’er, “You are impressive.”

In the past, Liu Shun’er was like a loyal dog always by Xia Yang’s side, eager to please him in hopes of gaining some benefits. However, now, even a dog seems to hold itself in higher regard compared to Xia Yang.

Not only that, but Liu Shun’er even had the audacity to look at him directly.

Xia Yang burped and couldn’t resist sarcastically saying, “Is there any other reason why I never see you whenever I come here?” tNjf9T

Liu Shun’er laughed dryly and said, “I’ve been quite busy lately. You know, the Zhang family’s project just started construction, and I’m busy running errands for the old man.”

The Zhang family was a competitor of the Xia family, and the two families had a long history of rivalry. Despite this, Liu Shun’er didn’t disclose anything about his involvement with the Zhang family before Xia Yang’s downfall.

However, now by choosing to work for the Zhang family in front of Xia Yang, it felt like a direct insult to him.

Xia Yang sneered, “You switch masters pretty quickly.” FdHmVO

Liu Shun’er laughed. He wasn’t angry at all. In fact, he even poured a glass of wine for Xia Yang.

“Brother, listen,” Liu Shun’er said as he poured the wine, “I have a small business here. So, the drinks before were just a way of showing respect to you, but now…”

Before he could finish speaking, Liu Shun’er paused as Xia Yang’s mobile phone screen lit up on the table.

Ignoring Xia Yang’s cold and mocking gaze, Liu Shun’er pointed at Xia Yang’s mobile phone and asked, “Do you want to answer that?” umokd5

There was an unfamiliar phone number on the screen. Xia Yang glanced at it irritably and then looked away.

“What else could happen with an unknown number?” he muttered dismissively.

Now he really couldn’t think of anyone who would be calling him except for debt collectors.

It was like when a strong tiger fell down and got bullied by a small dog. Z95VFR

Xia Yang remained silent and spoke with a cold smile, “I think I treated you pretty well before, right? You received many benefits from me, didn’t you? Why did you reveal your true intentions after just a few bottles of wine?”

“I used to, in the past. And to be honest, it was really difficult to even get the small benefits you offered,” Liu Shun’er said, still smiling but his words stung like needles. “I wish I could have gotten some advantages from you. If you treat someone like a dog, don’t be surprised if they act like one.”

Xia Yang looked at Liu Shun’er with red eyes, and his mouth twitched a few times without him realizing it.

The change in status made him very uncomfortable. It wasn’t just Liu Shun’er standing in front of him, but also Xia Wan, who everyone was talking about today. JvWjqi

It felt like everyone else was moving up in the world, while he was falling down. Even the darkest thoughts in his mind now dared to mock him.

A fire raged within him, its intensity spreading rapidly from his heart to his stomach, causing a feeling of queasiness. It seemed as though the flames were also searing into his brain, distorting his perception of the world and making everything feel chaotic and disorienting.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

He didn’t understand why, but he reached out and grabbed the wine bottle in front of him, his eyes turning cold and filled with anger.

Xia Yang, who used to exude strength and arrogance, now appeared noticeably thinner and his demeanor had taken on a sinister quality, reflecting a marked change in his character and appearance. KlLNJz

But Liu Shun’er wasn’t intimidated by him. He also grew cold and subtly signaled to the security personnel nearby with a wink.

Despite the pressure of the situation, Xia Yang wasn’t the type to easily accept defeat or setbacks.

Even though he had been drinking heavily, Xia Yang was well aware that if he were to engage in a conflict with Liu Shun’er today, he wouldn’t stand a chance of coming out on top.

This was inconsistent with his usual principles of doing things. He always either didn’t make trouble or made a big fuss. Whether it was to mess with Liu Shun’er or to ruin the place, he could easily find a few people and make a lively and fun scene.

And this time, the call came at just the right moment to save him. sxAazI

He smiled and raised his hand, and nodded to Liu Shun’er before picking up the phone.

It was his mother, Zhao Chengfang, calling.

The bar was really loud. Xia Yang covered one of his ears with his fingers so he could hear the phone clearly over the noise.

Everything had been going wrong for Xia Yang that day, and he was in a really bad mood. So when he spoke to his mom on the phone, his voice sounded impatient, “Mom, why are you calling….?” MWCL9d

But after a few words, he suddenly stopped, startled by the sound coming from the other end of the line. It wasn’t the usual nagging complaints and scolding from Zhao Chengfang that he had expected, instead, he heard heartbreaking sobs.

The voice on the other end of the line sounded incredibly sad and helpless, echoing in Xia Yang’s ears and weighing heavily on his heart. His chest felt tight, and a sense of foreboding settled over him.

“Mom?” he called out uncertainly, feeling a bit groggy from the alcohol, but still trying to focus.

“Your dad… your dad… something happened,” Zhao Chengfang’s voice choked with tears, and there was also the faint sound of wind in the background. tUVpfS

The wind wasn’t too loud, but to Xia Yang, it felt like a thunderous roar. He took a shaky step, no longer paying attention to Liu Shun’er. Xia Yang turned around and pushed his way through the crowd, heading outside into the snowy, windy night.

“Your dad was in a car accident,” Zhao Chengfang sobbed, her voice trembling. “It’s snowing heavily, and it’s difficult to find a taxi. I haven’t been able to go to the hospital yet.”

Please support our translators at chrysanthemumgarden (dot) com

The Xia family’s money was all gone, and they didn’t even have any money to buy a scooter anymore.

“Which hospital is he in?” Xia Yang asked anxiously. “And how is he doing?” dbmHqN

Zhao Chengfang shared the name of the hospital and then added with a mix of concern and uncertainty in her voice, “I still don’t know exactly what’s happening with your dad. The call we got earlier was from the traffic police. They kept reassuring us that it’s not life-threatening, but I can’t shake off this worry that they might be downplaying the seriousness of the situation because they’re dealing with it on the road.”

Zhao Chengfang’s worry was understandable.

Outside the bar, there were many empty cars waiting for customers. Xia Yang quickly waved one down and hopped inside. He hurriedly told the driver the hospital’s address.

The hospital was quite far from the bar, and by the time Xia Yang arrived, Zhao Chengfang was already busy completing the paperwork. pqYhdu

By then, they already knew a lot about Xia Chenglin’s specific situation. Fortunately, the driver braked in time during the accident, which saved Xia Chenglin’s life. While the car impact wasn’t too severe, Xia Chenglin was unlucky and hit the metal bracket of a billboard sign, resulting in a severe spinal injury.

If the surgery happens soon, there’s still hope that Xia Chenglin can live a normal life, but he’ll need a long time to get better.

But if he doesn’t get treated in time, he might end up paralyzed and stuck in bed forever, unable to take care of himself.

This was a major surgery, and the cost was not low. The pre-operative deposit couldn’t be less than the cost of the entire surgery. QF90uG

Xia Yang and Zhao Chengfang frantically searched through their pockets at the admission window, hoping to find enough money for the deposit. However, their efforts proved futile as they realized they didn’t have nearly enough. To make matters worse, it was Xia Chenglin who had violated traffic rules and caused the accident, making him the primary person responsible. Meanwhile, the driver was still giving a statement at the police station, leaving them in a dire situation with no immediate solution in sight.

If they didn’t have enough money, they wouldn’t be able to afford the surgery. And without the surgery, Xia Chenglin’s will be half dead.

Xia Yang gazed at Zhao Chengfang, her tears streaming down her face as she stood there, clearly overwhelmed with worry. Feeling helpless, he nervously scratched his head, trying to come up with a solution. Just then, Zhang Hao and his mother, Zhao Chengjiao, arrived. Xia Yang quickly turned to them and asked them to take care of Zhao Chengfang before hurrying out of the hospital.

He knew he had to find a way to get the money they needed for Xia Chenglin’s surgery, and he had to do it fast. 7Pb5j2

The snow fell heavier and heavier, obscuring the road ahead in a blur of white. It mirrored Xia Yang’s mood perfectly; he had never felt more desperate.

Alcohol tends to affect people more when they’re feeling vulnerable. Xia Yang’s head was throbbing, and he felt dizzy from the alcohol. For a moment, he didn’t know where to go or what to do.

It was time for him to go find Xia Wan. Right now, he didn’t need anything, and Xia Wan could have anything he wanted, no matter how much it cost.

But deep down, he also knew that he couldn’t just walk into the hotel, and even if he did, he wouldn’t be able to see Xia Wan. JlRO3b

As a taxi approached from afar, Xia Yang, feeling disoriented, opened the door and climbed inside.

The cold air rushed in, carrying snowflakes with it, but it couldn’t hide the overpowering scent of alcohol clinging to Xia Yang.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

The driver couldn’t help but frown unconsciously as he noticed the strong smell.

Xia Yang sat back in the taxi, momentarily stunned, before finally giving the address to the driver. He turned his head to look back at the hospital, watching as it grew smaller and smaller in the distance. vElLw8

Normally, Xia Chengzhang would have fallen asleep by now, but today was different. He had been staying up late, browsing the internet and reading comments from netizens. Despite the late hour, he didn’t feel the slightest bit sleepy.

The curtains were drawn shut, and the lights had been turned off for a while. The only source of light in the room was the glow from Xia Chengzhang’s mobile phone screen, casting a faint illumination on his face.

After staring at the screen for a while, Xia Chengzhang started to feel a bit tired. He put his phone down and raised his hand to rub his eyes, trying to ease the strain.

At that moment, the sound of footsteps echoed in the room. RsDx4m

Xia Chengzhang lived on the first floor, so it wasn’t unusual to hear footsteps from neighbors passing by. However, this time, the footsteps were different. They seemed to be heading straight towards his bedroom window. Suddenly, the window was slammed shut, causing Xia Chengzhang to jump in surprise.

The sudden slamming of the window was so intense that it would have startled Xia Chengzhang awake even if he had been in a deep sleep. But since he was already awake, the surprise hit him even harder, causing his heart to race with adrenaline and his senses to sharpen in alertness.

Without saying a word, Xia Chengzhang quietly sat up in bed.

“I know you’re not sleeping,” Xia Yang’s voice came from outside, slightly muffled by the wind. Xia Chengzhang could tell that he must have been drinking heavily. Yet at the same time, there was a hint of urgency in his voice. dyAep6

Since Zhang Ruicheng reclaimed the Xia family’s studio, the Xia family has caused numerous disturbances, alleging that Xia Chengzhang and Xia Wan had conspired with outsiders to harm them.

From the initial “demand for explanation” to the later request for Xia Wan to give up half of his shares, it’s clear that they’ve employed various tactics.

However, despite their numerous attempts to cause trouble, they were somewhat cautious due to Huo Yu’s status.

But today, Xia Yang’s voice sounded unlike anything Xia Chengzhang had heard before. It carried a sinister undertone, sending shivers down his spine. As it echoed outside the window on this cold, windy, and snowy night, it seemed to linger in the air, adding to the eerie atmosphere. QKUWyY

Xia Chengzhang didn’t know if it was his imagination, but soon the voice became much calmer. “Uncle, I know you haven’t slept yet,” Xia Yang said in a more composed tone.

Today was Xia Wan’s big day, and Xia Yang couldn’t imagine how Xia Chengzhang could possibly be asleep soon.

The wind howled outside, and Xia Chengzhang remained silent for a moment in the darkness. Then, he breathed a sigh of relief and reached out to turn on the light.

“I’ve told you many times,” he began, his voice firm, “there’s no point in looking for me.” He paused for a moment, letting the words sink in. “The company has been out of my hands for a while now. Lao Zhang earned it fair and square with his own abilities. It was a fair competition, and you should be willing to accept defeat.” bmX4nu

There was a moment of silence outside the window. Xia Chengzhang tried to persuade once more: “It’s snowing and cold out there. You should go back first, and we can talk when you’ve had some rest.”

“Uncle,” Xia Yang’s voice seemed to carry a hint of irony before he spoke again. “I can wait, but my dad can’t wait any longer.”

Suddenly, his tone became urgent and he raised his voice. “You have to save him! You have to!”

With his loud cry, even Aunt Zhang and the neighbors nearby were startled awake. qDv2Rd

Aunt Zhang hadn’t been sleeping either. Just like others, the revelation of Xia Wan’s life experience had deeply affected her, stirring up a whirlwind of emotions.

She had been scrolling through her phone, feeling a mix of shock, empathy, and excitement as she read the news.

When she heard the commotion, she hurriedly got dressed and rushed over to Xia Chengzhang’s side to find out what was happening.

Xia Chengzhang had already gotten dressed and was sitting by the bed. The curtains were tightly drawn, blocking her view of the scene outside the window. 7hRbzK

However, Aunt Zhang knew that Xia Yang was still outside, sticking to the window.

She listened closely as Xia Yang spoke with a slightly shaky voice, saying, “My dad was in a car crash and needs money to save his life in the hospital. Uncle, please help him.”

As soon as Xia Yang uttered those words, a noticeable shift occurred in the expressions of both Aunt Zhang and Xia Chengzhang.

“Give me five million,” Xia Yang spoke rapidly, his words urgent. “From now on, our family will never bother you again.” WJySQX

Xia Chengzhang lowered his eyes as if staring at his useless legs. After a moment of silence, he spoke softly, “I don’t have it.”

His tone was cold, unusually so. Not only his tone but also the expression on his face was extremely icy, tinged with a touch of bitter sarcasm. There was a mix of sadness and a strange sense of satisfaction, giving his features a twisted appearance.

Aunt Zhang glanced at Xia Chengzhang and suddenly felt a shiver of fear. Without uttering a word, she quickly sat down on the small sofa by the door, her heart pounding with uncertainty.

“You don’t have it?” Xia Yang retorted, his voice tinged with frustration and anger. “But don’t you have Xia Wan? He owns about 46% of our family’s assets, shared with Zhang. And he also has Huo Yu. Not only that he is also the son of the Xue family. Today, the head of the Xue family only gave him 15% of the shares. Asking for five million from him is nothing. Even fifty million would be a drop in the bucket for him now. If you want it, ask him for it directly!” aOS56V

“As long as you give me five million today, our whole family will never bother you again,” Xia Yang repeated, his voice low and tinged with a hint of desperation. He swallowed his pride and tried to maintain a tone of pleading, willing to endure the humiliation if it meant he could get the money for his father.

“I don’t have it,” Xia Chengzhang repeated from across the window. But his next words completely enraged Xia Yang, “Don’t say I have it, even if I had it I wouldn’t give it to you.”

“Xia Chengzhang, my dad is still in the hospital. If he doesn’t get treated in time, he may be paralyzed for life,” Xia Yang gritted his teeth, but reluctantly took a step back. “If you don’t have five million, at least help with my dad’s surgery fees first.”

“No,” Xia Chengzhang repeated, his voice firm and resolute. “Even if I have the money, I won’t give it to you.” His tone left no room for negotiation, indicating his unwavering stance on the matter. ghjbyd

Hearing Xia Chengzhang’s refusal, Xia Yang stood outside the window, frozen in disbelief for a moment. The harsh north wind whipped around him, and snowflakes fell lightly on his head and the ground beneath his feet. Despite feeling numb from the cold, his anger surged like an unstoppable force, overwhelming him with frustration and fury.

The combination of hot and cold finally pushed Xia Yang over the edge.

Please support our translators at chrysanthemumgarden (dot) com

Not only Xia Yang, but even Aunt Zhang was extremely surprised at this moment. She had never seen Xia Chengzhang act so unkindly before.

Xia Chengzhang was known for his gentle and easy-going nature. He had a reputation for being kind-hearted and would often lend a helping hand to those in need. WVPaQ

For instance, if he noticed that the shoes or bags of elderly people nearby were broken, he would put on his glasses and happily repair them for free.

But today was a matter of life and death. Despite the usual feud between the two families, Aunt Zhang couldn’t help but feel that Xia Chengzhang’s refusal was a bit too harsh.

She couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Xia Chengzhang, but all she saw was his determined profile, showing no signs of wavering.

In the backyard, there was a heap of garbage stacked up in one corner. Among the assorted junk, several steel pipes lay scattered. Xia Yang, with a displeased look on his face, turned around and grabbed one of the pipes. wE2UWp

As Xia Yang held the cold steel pipe in the palm of his hand, his grip tightened, sending a shiver down his spine. At that moment, his demeanor underwent a startling change. The pretense of weakness and sincerity dissolved into thin air, revealing the true nature beneath—an unsettling blend of coldness and viciousness. His eyes, once filled with a hint of vulnerability, now gleamed with a chilling determination, signaling a shift in his intentions.

“I already gave you a chance, and this is the last time I’ll ask,” he said, glaring at the window. Xia Chengzhang’s shadow was visible on the glass. “If you don’t help my dad today, he’ll end up paralyzed forever. And then everyone will know how bad Xia Wan’s adoptive father is. He’s even willing to risk his life for his brothers. Xia Wan’s famous, you know. So, think carefully. Even if it’s not for yourself, I suggest you give this money to me now!.”

Xia Chengzhang hated it the most when people tried to take advantage of Xia Wan. His tone turned even colder as he said, “Well, go ahead and try.”

With a sneer on his lips, Xia Chengzhang spoke with determination, his expression tinged with sadness. “When I faced trouble, what did Xia Chenglin do? Not only did he offer no assistance, but he also seized the opportunity to claim ownership of the studio I worked hard to establish. Surely you’re aware of who laid the foundation for the company you’ve taken pride in all these years, right? A brother from the same family faced a problem. Instead of lending a hand, he took away everything. If you want to cause trouble, so be it. Let’s see whose reputation takes a hit!” Pr2Tel

Xia Yang was momentarily taken aback, and then a sudden realization struck him. He recalled the prosperity and success he had experienced over the years, and it dawned on him that his wealth actually originated from the person standing right in front of him.

“I don’t want to make things worse for him,” Xia Chengzhang’s voice remained steady as he spoke. “Let me tell you, Xia Yang, this is karma catching up with Xia Chenglin. Even if someone does manage to save him, it won’t make a difference. He should simply stay in bed and take care of himself. Let him feel the same despair and pain I endured back then.”

Xia Yang didn’t see it, but Aunt Zhang, who was already shocked, noticed tears on Xia Chengzhang’s face.

In past years, Xia Chengzhang enjoyed a lot of happiness. It wasn’t until he was over fifty that he faced any major difficulties after his accident. 3TI7w6

However, during his twenties, he also felt like his life lacked purpose. Which was fulfilled when Xia Wan came into his life. Now, he doesn’t need anything: except Xia Wan.

Right after Xia Chengzhang finished talking, there was a sudden loud noise from behind him, followed by a crashing sound. The cold wind carried snowflakes into the room through the broken window. The curtains in Xia Chengzhang’s bedroom billowed high in the air as the wind rushed in, swirling around his face.

Aunt Zhang let out a startled scream, her heart racing with fear. Without hesitation, she rushed over to Xia Chengzhang and hastily guided him away from the window, ensuring his safety from any potential danger.

The steel pipe crashed wildly against the window, creating a deafening noise, especially in the quiet of the night. As the glass shattered, Xia Chengzhang’s hand was grazed by the sharp shards, causing blood to flow from the wound. h u1Qg

Xia Yang had always desired to do something big, and tonight, as he watched Xia Wan being accompanied to the stage by Xue Wenxuan, his determination only grew stronger.

But an unexpected event involving Xia Chenglin caught him off guard, disrupting his plans completely.

The influence of alcohol, Liu Shun’er’s icy gaze filled with mockery, Xia Wan’s birth truth, and then the sudden accident involving Xia Chenglin…

On a night when some people were celebrating joyously, others were plunged into despair. Despite his best efforts, Xia Yang found himself unable to save even his own father from the unfolding tragedy. 1 WgmJ

Everything overwhelmed him, breaking through the barrier of Xia Chengzhang’s cold words from earlier that night. He felt like the foolish Zhang Hao. Unable to focus on anything else, all he wanted was to lash out and destroy everything in his path.

When they received the call, Xia Wan and Huo Yu were already near Huo Yu’s home. Upon hearing the news, they quickly raised the partition in the car and Huo Yu instructed the driver to change the route to Xia Chengzhang’s residence.

The wind and snow outside were getting stronger and stronger. Xia Wan got really scared, and his lips turned white. He pressed against the car window, feeling impatient. Then, he started coughing because of the cold wind.

Huo Yu tightly held Xia Wan’s hand, feeling anxious too. 264mxQ

Luckily, Xia Chengzhang’s house had anti-theft windows installed, so Xia Yang shouldn’t be able to get in for a while. Aunt Zhang had already called the police. However, because of the heavy snowstorm, they weren’t sure when the police would arrive.

“We’re almost there,” Huo Yu said, giving Xia Wan’s hand a reassuring squeeze. His expression was serious, showing he was deeply concerned too.

Xia Wan remained silent, refraining from asking Huo Yu any questions out of fear of hearing bad answers.

But his mind was filled with terrifying imaginings that were even worse than anything he could ask. 0IDthp

The phone felt hot in his hand, making every passing second feel increasingly uncomfortable.

Suddenly, the phone rang again, and it was still Aunt Zhang calling.

Xia Wan and Huo Yu exchanged worried glances before hurriedly answering the phone.

“Aunt Zhang,” Xia Wan asked anxiously, “What’s happening there? Is my dad okay?” 8EhAdq

“We’re all safe,” Aunt Zhang’s voice trembled with shock. “Just a moment ago, some kind-hearted neighbors intervened and managed to drive Xia Yang away.”

“Thank God,” Xia Wan murmured, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t help but close his eyes, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. Yet, despite the immediate sense of calm, a complex mixture of fear and unease continued to linger in his mind, like a spider’s web intricately woven around his thoughts.

After ending the call, Xia Wan buried his face into Huo Yu’s chest. It felt like only Huo Yu’s breath and warmth could calm the fear and worry in his heart.

Huo Yu wrapped his arms around Xia Wan tightly, pulling him close, then leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to the top of his head. Nu0ec8

“It’s okay,” he whispered, his voice soothing. “We’re almost there. Everything will be fine.”

He added, “I asked Dad last time, but he didn’t want to live with us. Now that something like this has happened, I think it’s safer for us to live together.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Xia Wan looked up at him, meeting his gaze with a mixture of gratitude and concern.

Huo Yu smiled warmly at him. “There are vacant houses in the neighborhood owned by immigrants that haven’t been sold for many years. I’ll reach out later to see if I can buy one. Even if I had to pay a high price for it.” 23GEDe

Xia Wan pursed his lips, determined. “I’ll buy it,” he insisted

Huo Yu’s lips curved upwards as if he found Xia Wan’s statement amusing. “Is there really any difference between mine and yours?” he asked, a playful glint in his eyes.

“Oh, I see,” Huo Yu said with a smile. “Grandpa has just given you so many things that you look down on our Huo family,” he teased.

“No,” Xia Wan laughed, feeling teased to the brink of tears, and couldn’t resist playfully punching Huo Yu’s chest. Huo Yu caught his wrist and gently pulled it towards his lips, lowering his head to place a tender kiss on Xia Wan’s fist. LITWkg

The warmth and softness of the touch had made Xia Wan purse his lips, and he had clenched his fists even tighter in response.

Huo Yu, with dark eyes, called out to Xia Wan, “Wanwan, don’t be afraid.”

Despite the stormy and snowy weather, Huo Yu’s home was very close to Xia Chengzhang’s residence, so it didn’t take long for them to reach.

The neighborhood was really quiet, but Xia Chengzhang’s house still had its lights on. The wind had rolled up the curtains, and the light was shining through, showing the reflection of broken glass on the ground. uyr2Qo

As Xia Wan stepped out of the car, he rushed forward, nearly causing him to slip on the snowy ground. However, Huo Yu, with quick reflexes, grabbed his wrist.

The wind and snow relentlessly blew against their faces, making it nearly impossible to open their eyes. Despite the harsh weather, the two of them hurried forward, tightly holding hands.

As Xia Wan walked past the dark corner of the old building, with the chilly wind and snow falling, he suddenly felt a strong wind blowing from his side.

Without thinking, he turned his head instinctively and noticed a chilling light swiftly approaching, aimed straight at his head. NV9DRg

It was really close. He wasn’t sure if it was just in his imagination. Xia Wan even felt that the cold light was a bit too bright and dazzling.

At that moment, he couldn’t figure out what he was thinking; his mind just went blank. He forgot to duck, and maybe he didn’t even have time, so he stood there in the wind and snow, as if he was frozen.

But the bright light didn’t hit him on the head.

Because, all of a sudden, a strong arm came in and blocked the dangerous steel pipe with its wrist. rT9tXJ

Everything slowed down – the movements, even the sounds. Amidst the wind and snow, Xia Wan thought he heard a slow click, almost like the sound dont of bones breaking.

Suddenly, Xia Yang received a forceful kick, propelling him out until he collided harshly with the wall in the corner of the room. The impact was accompanied by a heart-rending scream that echoed through the air.

  1. The story is wrapping up. Only a few chapters left! ;-;

I look forward to seeing how the trash of the Xia family end. Especially after this chapter.

  2. 😫 It cannot be that the XY trash broke Huo Yu’s wrist/arm when Huo Yu blocked the hit…? You can’t be serious! But I guess with their high profile, our sweet couple should invest into some security measures. Especially Xia Wan; his past is full of scum people.

  3. Xia Yang really doesn’t know what’s good for him. Huo Yu isn’t a kind person by nature and he tried to attack the singular bright point in his life. I’ll be disappointed if Huo Yu doesn’t break his arms and legs.
