  19. Aiya, I feel like the author may have a little bit of a misconception about learning art? I mean, it’s a common one even amongst artists so I dont blame them! It’s wrong to see learning art as a linear path, with being extremelly skilled and talented meaning that you can’t learn or be taught anything from someone of lesser technical skill. The way the author sort of implies that it’s silly for QLQ to ask his teacher for help because of how much more skilled QLQ is in comparison isn’t quite right.

    • You’ve got it wrong. It’s not the author’s perception at all but how we tend to think. ppl tend to feel they aren’t worthy to teach someone more skilled than they are in a subject and instead want to worship the person. Those interested in learning like said person or our mc recognize that there’s always something to gain even from less “skilled” persons but others may feel unqualified to teach or offer insight if they are so much less skilled. Does that make sense? It’s like a confidence issue.
