When The War Is Over, Will You Plant A Blossom Tree For Me?Ch16 - Troublemaker

First thing the next morning, Lu Qinyi was straight to stirring up trouble. Fei Li woke to the sounds of yelling outside of his room. He furrowed his brows before dragging himself from the warmth of his bed to investigate. Yang Xun and Lu Qinyi were facing off in the courtyard, the former seeming beyond furious as he cursed Lu Qinyi with all kinds of colourful language that surely would have gotten him expelled from the army if it weren’t for the fact they were childhood friends. “Lu Qinyi, you’re a rotten, no good bastard! Scum! Lowlife! Anyone who looks up to you is a complete idiot! You’re an asshole, how could you do something like this?!”

“I already apologized! Just ask her to make you more, don’t make such a fuss,” Lu Qinyi brushed him off, utterly unapologetic even as he had to dodge Yang Xun’s fist. wexGY4

Zhao Mei had emerged from her room, pinching the bridge of her nose for a moment to gather the will to deal with these two. “Why is it you two are causing such a fuss at this time of morning?” She asked with exasperation.

Fei Li felt he was glad he wasn’t in her position as he leaned his shoulder against the door frame to his room, enjoying the show.

Lu Qinyi ducked as another punch was thrown toward him by the beyond angry Yang Xun, dashing toward Zhao Mei to hide behind her. “Mei Mei, tell him to calm down! I’ve done nothing worthy of being beaten for!” He cried, pulling on a rather pitiful expression.

Zhao Mei didn’t buy it for even a moment. “Bullshit.” She turned to Yang Xun who was starting to turn red from anger as he glared down Lu Qinyi, who was using Zhao Mei for protection, his fists clenched at his side. “What did he do this time?” JWVtGE

“He got to the packages sent from home before anyone else could, and he ate my roasted nuts and seeds! Jiali roasted them for me herself!” Seeing Zhao Mei’s only response was an impartial raise of an eyebrow, his temper rose further. “Don’t think you aren’t involved in this Zhao Mei! He ate from the milk candy your son and husband sent you as well!”

Lu Qinyi’s eyes went wide as if he couldn’t believe he’d been sold out like this. As Zhao Mei froze up he hurried to explain. “It was only one! I only ate one!”

But it seemed it didn’t matter if it was only one. Zhao Mei slowly turned to face him, her eyes burning with rage. “You bastard.” Her voice didn’t rise, but it was instead frighteningly cold.

Zhao Mei responded with a tone laced with venom, “You should have thought about that before you ate what wasn’t yours.”

Yang Xun was cursing him out again, “You’re a lowlife, unreliable, unloyal, traitorous, uncaring, selfish..”

Lu Qinyi realized this situation was beyond reasoning and focused on evading Yang Xun’s lunge for him with a spin, followed by a quick lean backward to avoid Zhao Mei’s swipe at him. It was then he noticed Fei Li from the corner of his eye, standing by to watch the scene with mild interest. Lu Qinyi swept snow up with his foot, flicking it into the air between him and his attackers to stall them for a moment. He then dashed over, managing to squeeze past the startled Fei Li before the latter could stop him. “General Fei, help me out!”

Fei Li couldn’t even start on the absurdity of him helping Lu Qinyi out. Turning to your enemy for help against your own lieutenants, truly only something Lu Qinyi would do. “What do you want me to do about this? You dug this hole yourself.” r80MXZ

“Something! Don’t you feel you owe me for saving your life and caring for you? They’re really going to beat me to death!”

Fei Li thought about it for a moment, his arms crossed over his chest. Zhao Mei and Yang Xun had reached his door, eyeing him with caution. Although they didn’t dare force their way past him into his room, they still waited at the door, their intent to fetch this no good general of theirs quite clear.

Fei Li smiled faintly which sent a feeling of dread through Lu Qinyi. “No. I don’t actually,” He commented breezily as he stepped back out of the doorway to let the pair of lieutenants in.

“How could you betray me like this! You have no heart General Fei!” 7ZVOxc

Although he tried, he couldn’t escape as Yang Xun caught a hold of him, fist raised.

“Yang Ye, you can’t hit your general like this!” Lu Qinyi pleaded, which succeeded in pausing Yang Xun’s actions.

But it didn’t last as Yang Xun replied mildly, “Yes I can,” and followed through with the swing, hitting Lu Qinyi square on the jaw. Having vented his anger, he seemed satisfied, turning away from Lu Qinyi who sulkily held a hand against his now sore jaw.

However, just as Yang Xun had released Lu Qinyi, Zhao Mei came forth and landed a hard punch to his stomach before the other had the chance to dodge. Lu Qinyi doubled over with a groan, crumpling to the ground. Fv95dS

“Don’t ever touch my packages again,” She stated, coldly looking on as Lu Qinyi curled on the floor.

“I hope you’ve learnt your lesson, General.” Yang Xun huffed, arms crossed. He had to quickly look away in order to not feel guilt for the pathetic looking Lu Qinyi.

Fei Li felt Lu Qinyi was truly pathetic. He had watched on expressionlessly and now he even poked at Lu Qinyi’s body with the tip of his shoe. “Take this with you, I don’t want it left dumped in my room,” He directed at the two subordinates who were about to leave.

Zhao Mei scrunched her nose at the thought and simply left, having no intention to meet any request by Fei Li nor to spend any more of her time on Lu Qinyi, but Yang Xun walked back. Since he was still a little mad, he took a hold of Lu Qinyi’s leg and started dragging him across the floor instead of helping him to his feet. “Come on, General.” g29z7v

“Noooo. Let me lie a little longer. Zhao Mei has such a strong punch. At least you held back a little, she’s merciless! You both are awful subordinates. I should have you both kicked out of the army,” Lu Qinyi bemoaned in self pity, his arm clutched over his stomach as he was dragged along.

“Whatever you say General Lu. You’re the one who angered us, you’ve only got yourself to blame.”

Fei Li couldn’t help feeling somewhat amused as he watched Lu Qinyi be dragged from his room. This enemy of his was truly laughable but his bizarre antics meant Fei Li wasn’t really bored during his imprisonment here.

Author’s Notes: 5nJQmX

Short, silly chapter to lighten the mood before it takes a dive. Things are about to get interesting…

Fun fact, since Lu Qinyi knew he was in the wrong, neither lieutenant received a punishment for punching their general~

I also previously incorrectly spelt Jiali (meaning beautiful/good) as Jialee. I try to ensure my names have legitimate Chinese translations but it seems I must have made a mistake in my notes. Yell at me if I’ve ever forgotten to change the spelling during editing.

Extra note: I entered CG’s fanart competition with fanart of my own novel at my friend’s prompting. I mean, I draw WWIO content all the time, why not right? Free promo maybe. JdSF8Y
