The Black Saint is My StalkerCh55 - Sh*t quite literally hit the fan

Things devolved really damn quickly.

Seiji and Han Li didn’t even get a chance to properly introduce themselves to their teammates before shit quite literally hit the fan. h8UAcH

They had been called to the summoning site to provide direct backup but Han Li seriously feared that that wasn’t going to happen. Because the dense cloud of miasma was in the distance and they had hardly advanced three blocks. Not when lesser demons festered and populated every which corner, attracted to the wafting miasma that saturated the air.

It turned out that trying to adjust to a team on the fly was a damned difficult thing to do!

For example, their spear-wielding paladin, Heena, or whatever her name was had zero respect for Han Li as a vanguard! Why was she fighting him for field control and space!? It made no sense to Han Li. For what must have been the twentieth time she had shoved herself ahead of him in search of an opening against the lumbering sorrow demon before them.

He was taken by surprise, causing his steps to falter. “What the fuck!?” Han Li hissed, watching the ground darken with wet splotches that inched towards their reckless paladin. Those damned meatheads were all the same! He screeched internally, bringing out a slew of talismans and setting them on the ground, around the dark-skinned spear-woman in front of him. 4jza5f

“Move!” he hissed at her, tossing Weian into the air and bringing his hand in, forming a hand seal at his chest. The sword flew on its own, whizzing forth as though it possessed a life of its own.

The lady paladin shot him a glare over her shoulder before he ruefully got out of the way as he instructed. When dark tentacles tried to reach for her ankles the talismans light brightly. Explosions sounded with crackling lightning. The blob-like main body inched forward, stretching out to block the full stretch of the street. Weian cut down on the left side, where the sorrow demon’s body was stretched the thinnest. The gelatin-like substance parted and sizzled lightly, emitting thinned steam.

But the gooey body of the demon was already starting to heal the moment it was severed. Still, Weian continued to fly, drawing a symbol in the air.

The sorrow demon made a rumbling sound. A pair of desire demons hopped over its large body and their brick-headed paladin rushed out to meet them with her spear. The desire demons were feline-like, like two black panthers covered in jagged spikes and fangs that extended outward much like that of venomous snakes.

That idiot…! Han Li, who was mid-incantation, had no opportunity to call out to their stupid paladin. The symbol drawn by Weian began to glow, before exploding into a bright light. The sorrow demon shrieked, shrinking at the sudden burst of power.

Only then, did Han Li shout, “What the hell are you doing!?”

He extended his palm, calling Weian back to his hand.

Why the heck did their paladin think she was a damned vanguard!? Why wasn’t she letting him do his job? Rather than controlling the battlefield, he felt like a damned babysitter, chasing after the spear-wielding paladin and making sure she didn’t just randomly drop dead! ntFCix

Luckily, it appeared that Seiji (or Larry!) was at least decently competent when he wasn’t busy acting like a clown. Shots rang, bullets drilled into the two desire demons with pinpoint precision, despite them being so close to the paladin, the shots were made without hesitance. The demons shrieked and flailed, giving Heena the opportunity to skewer them.

Robert was shaking his head at him. Ar8MNS

Han Li pointed towards their escaping paladin in disbelief while their captain only smiled apologetically. “Sorry about that. She’s got a bit of spice to her that one. I’ll reprimand her later,” the older man said.

“Huh?” Han Li couldn’t even stop himself from speaking out, “Why can’t you do it now!?”

Robert frowned. “No time. We have to move forward.” With another pat on Han Li’s shoulder, their captain took off. Their blond-haired exorcist whose name Han Li couldn’t remember to save his life hummed and followed their team captain. Han Li stood in disbelief.

He looked back, seeing Seiji saunter behind the group with his sniper rifle hanging off his shoulder. That black katana was nowhere in sight. The red-haired chuuni cosplayer wannabe scratched his chin. “Talk to her,” he said in a grave tone, “After all when times are dire it is the power of friendship that will prevail—” xZpGEM

“…Just. Shut up.” Han Li wanted to rip his hair out at that point. He wondered if it was okay to pretend to be a paladin or exorcist instead and just let that idiot spear-wielder take the lead if she was so damn insistent.

Dejected, he followed the group, reaching up unconsciously to fiddle with his enchanted earring.

The closer they got to the designated warehouse, the harder the air was to breathe for everyone except Han Li with miasma so thick. While the rest of his team was starting to feel sluggish, Han Li felt energetic. Even though he had originally intended to stay back to avoid their angry, reckless paladin, it was inevitable that he eventually took the lead.

Han Li found that he was inexplicably drawn to the warehouse, eager to move in closer despite his team lagging behind. The streets were still dense with enemies, making it difficult to advance. AExm5Z

Still, he pushed forward, and on his own this time, since his teammates weren’t cooperating in the first place. Han Li had no intentions of straying too far, of course. He only wished to have a closer peek.

It was a mistake. Because just as he looked over the edge of a railing, down towards the parking lot of the warehouse that could be spotted below, he was suddenly overwhelmed by a pulsating force of holy power. Han Li, struck, watched like an imbecile as the light drew cracks into the ground and other surrounding structures from buildings to plant life and abandoned vehicles.

A loud boom sounded, an explosion engulfed everything in a blinding white. Han Li felt the ground shake under him and his balance failed. He fell, tumbling down and down. It was the last he remembered of the blast, his consciousness went out like a switch.

“Saint Graham, am I doing the right thing?” A female voice hummed, contemplative, calm, and also bitter.

“Only time will tell.”

A dismissive chuckle. “As if we have time to afford.”

“Your intentions are right,” Graham’s tone was brisk but beheld a hidden underlined softness. YkGsDV

“What? By gambling away lives?”

“Only to save others.”

“I can only feign to have your conviction,” the female voice sighed, “I don’t know why they made me commander and not you.”

“Sometimes people need an empathic leader.” gUMpRJ

“You’re saying that—”

“You are. I’m not.”

She laughed, “You make it sound so simple.”

When Han Li came to, the world was swaying under him. He grumbled, groggy and nauseous. “What…” When he tried to move, he realized that his legs were held in place and his chest against something sturdy and warm. His arms flinched, grabbing onto an organic shape beneath him. cmKo20

“You’re awake.” Graham’s low voice welcomed him back into consciousness. The swaying stopped but he still felt groggy and unwilling to part with the warmth he was pressed against.

“Hmmmm…” he grumbled like a disgruntled cat, burrowing his head into a nice, comfortable junction.

“How is your body?” That female voice addressed him. It was familiar and took Han Li a moment to remember who it was. His eyes snapped open, the realization came upon him like a knife through the heart. Graham had been carrying Han Li on his back! And Han Li, like an imbecile, was nuzzling his face against the Saint’s neck!

Embarrassment came upon him so quickly, Han Li was going to drown in it. He tried to push himself off Graham, which only caused the Saint to tighten his grasp around Han Li’s thighs. uGodpt

“Stop that,” Graham chided. “Stop flailing and I will put you down.”

Han Li was glad for the darkness, at least his blush wouldn’t seem as obvious when Graham finally put him down. He looked around, trying to get a quick understanding of the place and situation.

They were still in Darmine, from what Han Li could tell but where exactly he didn’t know. The street was narrow with nondescript shops that lined both sides. Nothing really stuck out; there was a pizzeria, a dry cleaning joint, a mechanics shop, and some other similarly mundane buildings.

The miasma wasn’t nearly as full and vibrant as Han Li remembered and when he veered around, he found that the streets he and his team had traveled and the suspicious warehouse that defined their definition were nowhere to be seen. “W-what’s going on? Where are we?” Mf7N2Q

He raised a hand to cradle his head, staving off a throbbing headache.

Seoyun tilted her head, if she was annoyed that Han Li avoided her question, she made no show of it and wore a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “We are in the east part of the city, going to go hunt and kill a demon lord.”

Author: Guess who’s vaccinated? AHEM but I did pass out for like 12 hours after the second shot and didn’t get any writing done ;-; which kind of suckssss.

Anyways! I promise things get more exciting from here on out with Han Li back in the picture~ 9BHoWb

  1. As long as you’re fully vaccinated I guess passing out is ok, do you feel better now??

Thank you for the chapter!!! ❤️❤️

  2. When sh*t hits the fan, the situation usually gets really messy (pun intended). That female paladin should learn a thing or two. You – paladin, he – vanguard! Stick to your function and position you meat-head, and don’t get into his way, unless you want to die!

    Thank you for the chapter!!!

P.S. Wow, is the second dose that powerful (got my first last saturday, my arm was paintfull for two days).

    • LOL!

It can’t be helped. Paladins are meatheads through and through. Wait– Graham is a paladin LMFAO. Not gonna lie I don’t know what inspired me to write these weird hunter roles because they probably just clutter my story with pointless world building weeps. Next time I’ll learn to simplify

      😥

And it might just be me! The first dose made me feel pretty poop and then the second dose just made me feel exhausted. When I went to bed I just…slept and slept

      😂

  3. welcome and thank you for contributing to herd immunity! My family is all fully vaccinated as well ^-^

also, are only Graham and Seoyun alive?

    Thanks for the chapter! <3

  4. Yessss Han Li’s back ! On Grams’ back (wow i should go to sleep or burry myself with this sorry excuse of a joke 😅)
