  3. I think the reason XYS is a bit annoying at the end of the chapter is because the author kinda wrote themselves into of a corner with this. The original mini story that this story is based off of was a simple comedy with silly characters that had virtually no depth outside of their funny traits. But this story is more fleshed out and the characters are much more well rounded. So it’s much easier to empathize as well as judge characters actions. The author has been fairly diligently following the plot of the original mini-story and the scene from this chapter is straight from it. Originally it was funny because “Haha, learning obsessed XYS is obsessed with learning” but in this story where we know the characters better and things feel more “real” this scene is … less funny.

  4. I don’t think XYS is annoying. XS keeps insisting to anyone who will listen, XYS included that he doesn’t like him and he’s nothing but a stand in that he pays money. If I was doing my job well and my employer subsequently gave me bonuses and paid me well for my stellar service,

    I wouldn’t think that my boss had fallen in love with me, especially if I was a sex worker. That’s unrealistic to have to those expectations. XS is going to have to stop being so tsundere and start using some words if he wants XYS to start treating their interactions as a relationship and not as a job.
