“Millennium’s screen test photo.” Emperor Xiao smiled at Tang Ruanqing, a smile that could break hearts. “Cousin, you don’t have to worry about such a trivial matter.”

Tang Ruanqing forced out a smile, “Is that so?” J9N36t

Watching the two leave, his smile gradually disappeared. Was Zimo serious this time?

The other two people on the sofa were watching at the same time, and didn’t see, but Wei Xiaoyi’s face was a little pale with an ugly expression.

“As far as I know, the preparations for the Millennium are not yet complete. How can we take a final screen test photo tomorrow?” Going to a corner, Shan Yatong pushed off the arm slung around his neck. “Aren’t you afraid you’ll be in trouble with Chairman Tang tomorrow?”

Xiao Qishen wanted to put his arm around Yatong’s shoulders again, but after receiving a soft glare, he withdrew his hand back with a beaming smile. “If Yatong is asking something like this, are you worried about me?” RLZ78J

“Xiao-ge can believe whatever he wants.” Shan Yatong smiled like a little fox.

Xiao Qishen recalled the enduring patience on Shan Yatong’s face only a moment ago, with such coldness in those tan-brown eyes. He smiled, “If it’s for the sake of Shan Yatong, I’m not afraid to offend anyone.”

Shan Yatong squinted at the popular Emperor of this circle, speaking such corny words whenever he wanted without making people uncomfortable. He rolled his eyes at the resplendent ceiling. “Xiao-ge, what do we say when Chairman Tang asks tomorrow?”

“Don’t worry, he won’t bother you,” Xiao Qishen changed the subject with a smile, “It’s so late now. I’ll take you home.”

Shan Yatong looked around at the bustling venue. Taking his mobile phone out, he gave Lu Fan a call. Turning his head to Xiao Qishen, he said, “Let’s go.”

Lu Fan closed his cell phone cover, slightly frowning. Why was Xiao Qishen approaching Shan Yatong again and again? Not only that, but there must be a lot of paparazzi squatting outside the hotel right now. As a Heavenly Emperor, how could he not know this? Yet he and Shan Yatong were leaving together before anyone else at this very moment?

He kneaded his forehead. No wonder Emperor Xiao’s agent mentioned that he was powerless with Emperor Xiao, it seemed he had said that for a reason.

This Emperor Xiao really couldn’t be bothered to spare others any worry. hf7b x

Xiao Qishen found that if he didn’t take the initiative to talk to Shan Yatong, the teenager was quiet most of the time. Even when he was sitting in the car, he liked to look out the car window, regardless of whether or not there was anything to look at outside.

Just like now, the teenager was staring out the window, unblinking and without any expression on his face. But it was this kind of emptiness that revealed a trace of the vicissitudes of his life.

Xiao Qishen always had trouble reading the youth, but he couldn’t help being attracted to him. It seemed like this young man had captured him, and he was perfectly willing to be caught.

After Shan Yatong heard this song, he finally stopped looking out the car window. Closing his eyes, he listened to his own song. There was no excitement on his face when the newcomer heard his album on air.

Xiao Qishen looked at his calm face. The car was stopped at a red light.

There was an emptiness to the song, worth a thousand years of sadness. Those thoughts, and hints of sorrow, seemed to easily penetrate the hearts of people. Those feelings of longing and sorrowfulness slowly burrowing into one’s heart.

“You sing very well,” Xiao Qishen’s spoke up in the silent car. Shan Yatong opened his eyes, and the corner of his mouth lifted. “Thank you.” qJTZUb

Their eyes met, and they smiled at each other.

A white light flashed. Glancing to the side at an unremarkable car. Inside, a man was hurriedly withdrawing his camera.

The two cars were not far apart. The panic on the little reporter’s face was clear as day. He wasn’t sure how the two artists would react when they discovered he was secretly taking photos. As a new reporter to the industry, he didn’t know how to deal with this kind of situation.

Taking his mobile phone out, Xiao Qishen snapped a photo of the reporter. He smiled and waved to the reporter. “Hello,” he said, raising his phone. “If there are false media reports tomorrow, I’m sure I can find you.” With that said, he closed his cell phone. “It’s a high-pixel phone. You don’t have to worry about looking ugly in the photos, my reporter friend.” XDnRo1

The red light changed to green, and the car started again. Xiao Qishen called his agent, and let him know that they were photographed tonight. Hanging up his call, he looked at Shan Yatong, who was not worried at all. “You’re not worried?”

“If Xiao-ge isn’t worried, then I have nothing to worry about.” Shan Yatong glanced at the black car lagging far behind them. He didn’t know what to think of it, and laughed out loud.

“What are you laughing about?” Xiao Qishen suddenly said, “My home is not far away. Why don’t you come to my home and sit for a bit.”

The traffic radio changed to a different song, and he didn’t know if it was just a coincidence, but it was a song by Xiao Qishen. ndoIDV

“Isn’t Xiao-ge afraid of potential gossip?” Shan Yatong asked curiously.

“As an entertainer, the real fear isn’t of potential gossip. It’s that, no matter what you do, there won’t be any gossip about you. Right?” Xiao Qishen said this without any irony. It was clear that Shan Yatong didn’t care much about what he was saying.

“Indeed, to be an artist without any gossip is really depressing.” Shan Yatong chuckled, “No wonder there is so much gossip about Xiao-ge.”

“It seems that Yatong pays a lot of attention to me,” Xiao Qishen said, not hearing the joking tone in Shan Yatong’s words. He blinked at him, “Could it be, Yatong is actually a fan of me?” NzFad3

Shan Yatong smiled, too lazy to refute his narcissistic words. He said, lazily, “In that case, I’ll take a look at what Xiao-ge’s place looks like.”

The car drove slowly into the villa, past the curved iron bars surrounding it. Shan Yatong glanced at Xiao Qishen. For there to be such a villa in this kind of place, it seemed that the second young master of the Xiao family was not as unpopular as rumours said he was with the old man of the Xiao family.

Getting out of the car, he saw all kinds of flowers blooming in the garden. Shan Yatong scanned the garden once, but didn’t give it a second look.

Xiao Qishen smiled at him, and led him into the lounge. As soon as they sat down, a woman in white work-clothes came over with two cups of tea. Setting the tea in front of them, she then retreated. 4gSuAF

“I didn’t expect Xiao-ge to like drinking tea.” Shan Yatong picked up and held the purple teacup with both hands, blowing lightly at the tea leaf floating on the water surface. His pink and moist lips were particularly attractive.

Xiao Qishen tore his eyes away, and looked at the cup in his own hand. “It’s nice to pretend to be cultured once in a while.”

Just like how he seldom fell in love with someone.

“Why didn’t anyone tell me that Shan Yatong was going to be in Millennium?” Sitting in the boss’s chair, Tang Ruanqing didn’t smile at all. He threw the script onto the desk. “Hm?” HiFAOD

Tang Ruanqing’s two assistants exchanged a look, but didn’t say a word. Lu Fan, who was standing to the side, also did not speak.

Xie Xun, who had just answered the phone, walked into the Chairman’s office with a poor expression. He didn’t know whether or not to speak at the sight of this very scene.

“Lu Fan, you tell me, what’s going on with all of this?” Tang Ruanqing looked at Lu Fan, who had been silent this whole time.

“Chairman Tang, I wasn’t aware you didn’t want to agree with it. As an agent, I only considered the pros and cons of this film for the artist, this is my negligence.” Lu Fan looked up. JU3T8l

“Are you accusing me of interfering with your work?” Tang Ruanqing stood up. “But did you even consider how much negativity will surround this film because of the subject of homosexuality?!”

Lu Fan looked at the man who was obviously holding back anger. “Chairman Tang, the other lead with Yatong is Xiao Qishen. It’ll be enough to make up for the backlash. Not only that, but the screenwriter is Liao Ran. Every single one of her movies have been well received.”

”But Liao Ran has never wrote a movie about homosexuality.” Tang Ruanqing glared at Lu Fan, then looked at Xie Xun, who had just come in. “Xie Xun, what’s the matter?”

“It’s nothing.” Xie Xun wasn’t an idiot. But he didn’t want to tell Tang Ruanqing that Xiao Qishen and Shan Yatong were just photographed together. If he did tell him, he didn’t know what the fox would look like when angered. lhXsTK

Tang Ruanqing rubbed his forehead. He lit a cigarette. “Everyone leave. Lu Fan stay.” His voice sounded tired.

Xie Xun looked at Lu Fan sympathetically. Although the other leading actor in the movie was Xiao Qishen, and he was under Xie Xun’s management, the Heavenly Emperor Xiao was not under Tang Ruanqing’s management. Compared to Lu Fan, Xie Xun was much luckier.

As soon as Xie Xun opened the office door, Chairman Tang’s voice called out from behind him. “By the way, Xie Xun. I think Qishen has been very carefree lately. Are you incompetent as an agent?” Xie Xun’s face darkened. It seemed that an agent is doomed to be unfortunate. He redirected his sympathy for Lu Fan to himself.

When the door closed, the president’s office suddenly fell silent. WOastr

Tang Ruanqing stood in front of the window. Gazing out at the night, he said, “Lu Fan, I won’t get in the way of what you want, and in return I don’t want you to get in the way of what I want.”

Lu Fan was stunned. His eyes widened. He couldn’t believe it. At the moment, the man in front of him seemed like a formidable wolf in the dark, it was a little scary.

Turning to look at Lu Fan, Tang Ruanqing sneered, eyes in the light appeared a little chilling, “What, do you understand what I’m saying?”

Lu Fan lowered his eyes. “Chairman Tang, I don’t mean to interfere in your affairs. Shan Yatong is just an artist under my name.” All he wanted to do was train him to be a Heavenly King. He didn’t want to think about anything else. Lw4fdN

He did not understand why Tang Ruanqing was so interested in this male artist, and why he was letting this newcomer follow the route of Jing Anjue. But he also didn’t want to understand. He didn’t want an artist’s potential to be ruined by Tang Ruanqing’s selfishness.

“Is that right?” Tang Ruanqing looked at his drooping eyelids, which concealed whatever he was thinking. The smoke from his cigarette made his eyes uncomfortable.

“Yes, Mr. Tang. Yatong is a thoughtful man. None of us can force him to go against his will.” Lu Fan looked up, his eyes firm. “But, I just want him to walk on the highest point of this starry road, that’s all.”

After putting out his cigarette, Tang Ruanqing sat back in the boss’s chair, and raised his hand. “Leave. I still have some things to deal with.” su1ZU

Alone in the office, Tang Ruanqing turned his chair. He stared out the dark window with a bitter smile. “Jing Anjue…”

Kyou: I think at this rate Chairman Tang is doomed as the male lead… Guess the ending is probably with Xiao Qishen? (not a spoiler! I don’t know ╰(*´︶`*)╯ Bei knows but I told her not to tell me)

His expression hinted at the changes he’s overcome in life, especially negative ones

Translator's Note

K: He’s “apologising” for only thinking for the wellbeing of Yatong as an artist and not his personal (relationship) life (with his boss). He MIGHT be dissing Tang Ruanqing for blaming this on him, but it might also just be a innocent genuine comment!

  1. Kyou, I think president Tang has never been a choice as the ML… a few chapters back, I already commented my opinion about this matter.

My ship, the one and only ship is Xiao Qishen 😮

    • +1

I had been rooting for Emperor Xiao since he is the only one that has nothing to do with Anjue. Honestly, I like him so much that I hope there’s a reverse chasing later (not likely, but still..)

      • reverse chasing? In that case, our little gong would have to stop chasing first. Based on his actions, I doubt he will give up.

More likely, he’ll annoy his wife to the point where he simply agrees, just to get little gong to shut up xD

  2. Yes, no spoilers. No one likes spoilers (unless it’s horror film/game, but even there would be enough comment scary/scary like hell)

    thanks for the chapter~

  3. I’m in Xiao Qishen because his proportion of together with Yatong… though it’s hard to betting on one character in this novel and I hate being backstabbed when it come to end couple…

  4. Tbh I always thought the ML was going to be xqs 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was kind of rooting for the young idol from the old company. At this point, I’m not really rooting for anyone and I don’t think I like any of the characters,,,, 😭

Thank you translators for doing an awesome job!

  5. I liked him initially since he personally knows mc.. but this obsession is going too far. Sigh//
