I think you are under the misunderstanding that ML was really using Jeongju to threaten him, when in reality he was just using him as an example of what a threat could look like. You need to consider that the story is from MC’s point of view. At this current point, his opinions to ML are not favourable, he is a very sensitive person who worries about what could happen to his loved ones. Hence, the narrative flows in the way that emphasises ML’s “wickedness”. There’s nothing that ML has actually done, other than using words to rile MC up (because he knows MC won’t be weak and back down anyway).
