Soul FireChapter 21

“Intelligent ghost, Saero, has arrived. Taehee-nim.”

Yoon Taehee brushed his dishevelled hair. GtNExA

“Come on.”

Yoon Taehee smiled and lightly tapped his chin. It was an unspoken meaning that he could get up. Then, Saero, who bowed his head politely, quickly smiled and straightened his body comfortably. Seeing where the serious look from a moment ago had disappeared, he stretched and looked around the inside of the library.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Wow, Taehee-nim. There are many books here.”

“Is it interesting?” aSduCQ

“Absolutely. There are far more books here than I have read in my entire life.”

He snooped around the bookshelves and exclaimed wow, yaa. Even though he was a ghost, sometimes he felt more human than human. He was curious and liked new things. He was, in many ways, not a spirit.

Intelligent ghosts were beings with strong powers who knew how to discern self-interests like a human being. Because of this, they resented being treated the same as ghosts without rationale or vengeful spirits who couldn’t throw away their lingering grudges and made trouble. But when it came to getting along with humans, it wasn’t great. Most of them looked down on humans because of their short lives and weak strength. Just like Paehyeon did before meeting Yoon Taehee.

The intelligent spirits who looked down on humans lived together huddled together. In a place where humans did not reach, they enjoyed nature as a friend and leisurely taste. Then, when they got tired of the peaceful and lofty life, they came out to play where humans live as a change of mood. On the other hand, there were also a few that were friendly to humans from the beginning. From the time they were born, they mingled among people and imitated the human lifestyle. If Paehyeon was originally the former, Saero was the latter.

Since the intelligent spirits were strong, they could appear in front of ordinary humans if they wanted to. Still, since they were ghosts, they had no shadows, so they roamed the streets in the dark of night or at dawn for fear that they would be discovered. A small number of them went shopping or enjoyed entertainment while enjoying human culture, as if they were human beings.

Saero was particularly interested in fashion. Every time Yoon Taehee summoned Saero, his new clothes and hairstyle always changed. The last time he wore a raincoat with frizzy curly hair, he showed up this time with a short cut and colourful cardigan. He still had traces of perm. Whatever the difference between the human mindset and the bird’s, his fashion world was always bizarre.

While he was frantically exploring the inside of his library, Yoon Taehee opened the window through which the dark sunset light streamed in. Fresh air rushed in.

“What did you call me for anyway? Did you want me to read that book?!” 3eth O

He pretended to shudder as he put both of his hands over his mouth. Yoon Taehee laughed silently. He was as cheerful and lively as ever. It was the complete opposite of Paehyeon’s serious and static personality. If Saero and Paehyeon were put together, the two ghosts would growl at each other. Paehyeon pointed his finger at Saero, saying that he was a ‘lunatic and nuisance messing around’, and Saero would be dismissive of him, saying that he was a ‘nonsense dweeb who couldn’t take a joke’.

“There is something I want to ask you.”

At Yoon Taehee’s words, Saero’s face lit up.

“Just say anything.” J4agG

“There’s a person I’m curious about.”

Saero stared at the back of Yoon Taehee, who had his arms hanging over his window. He had a human he was curious about? From what he had seen so far, Yoon Taehee was someone who was not interested in others at all. Saero’s eyes became intrigued. Using the red sky as a huge canvas, Yoon Taehee’s lines melted into the landscape.

He looked at Yoon Taehee with a look of disbelief.

“Taehee-nim, is this the good you mentioned…”

“Yeah, that’s it.”

What Yoon Taehee pointed at was a tissue with blood on it. Until a few hours ago, it was in Jaegyeom’s nose. jJrypH

“This… is this the tissue… you stick in and out of your nostrils?”

“Mhm. It’s a tissue for a nosebleed.”

“Oh, really, Taehee-nim…”

Saero couldn’t bear to speak and buried his face in his squatting lap. Even after seeing the frustrated Saero, Yoon Taehee was calm. Rather, he clasped both of his hands and leisurely cheered. GjzAVJ

“Saero, you can do it.”

It wasn’t empty talk. Yoon Taehee believed in his power. That was why he called him. Since there were significantly fewer intelligent spirits than miscellaneous ghosts and vengeful ghosts, there was a lot of unknown information among the exorcists. If it’s a ghost, there’s no way they know about it because they’re narrow-minded and unconditionally hostile. Just as the ability of a gwijae varies depending on the strength of their spiritual energy, the same goes for an intelligent spirit.

Saero had the ability to read the history of blood,

“Taehee… Even so, how could I touch the toilet paper that someone else blew their nose on?” MR2nuA

“It’s not snot, it’s a nosebleed.”

“No, ha… That’s still…”

“What about it.”

“Also! If this is the case, then… Don’t we look like a sticker!” pVkSz5

“Not a sticker, but a stalker.”

Yoon Taehee calmly corrected the words. Although his tone was loose, Saero’s face was serious. He was able to read the whole life of the target through blood. Each person’s history was contained in the blood that ran through their bodies.

“Is there any fresh blood other than this?”

He added with a tearful face. It was common to be handed blood in a small bottle or airtight container, but this was the first time he had ever received a tissue paper used to clean a nosebleed. xG6cbQ

“If there isn’t, I’ll have to go get it myself, stabbing or otherwise.”

“Well. That’s a bit…”

“Yes?”

“I don’t want to see a scratch on him.” vMUbf

“…”

At Yoon Taehee’s nonchalant answer, Saero became confused and glanced into the trash.

“But, why are you curious about this person’s history?”

“He seems to have a lot of secrets.” PrQa6o

“Can I ask what secrets?”

Yoon Taehee, who was squatting, got up. He stood with his back leaning against one side of the wall, lost in thought for a moment.

“Young gwijae. But he understood Chinese very well. No matter how well you know Chinese characters, it’s hard to understand the words right away without trouble in this day and age. I wonder if even an old man in his seventies or eighties would know. It means that he was in a condition where using Chinese characters was a part of his daily routine. For example, the exorcists of Naryecheong have to deal with talismans and recite sutras even though they are young, so of course they have no choice but to get used to Chinese characters.”

“Hyaaa, is that so admirable?” PQ4OZa

Saero opened his eyes wide.

“Although I haven’t seen it with my own eyes, there is a high probability that that child can handle spiritual energy freely. Even after several years of training at Naryecheong, it is not easy to handle it at will, but a young genius who is only 18 can handle it that much?”

Yoon Taehee narrowed his eyes and recalled the broken jade seal.

“There are two cases. From a very young age, he studied with a teacher or…” 9MBqnJ

“Or…”

“He has been living for a very long time.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Eh? Saero seemed to open its mouth like a crucian carp, and then flapped his palms in a flurry.

“Ah, Taehee-nim, please. You still have a lot of imagination. Didn’t you say he was a young gwijae? How can a mere human live longer than their lifetime?” LW6Pku

“Is that so? The gap between imagination and reality is not as far apart as you might think. Like how ordinary people couldn’t even imagine that an intelligent spirit like you is living in this world.”

Yoon Taehee added while rubbing the nape of his neck.

“That’s why I called you.”

“But, Taehee-nim…” Ysa4LJ

‘I know what you mean’. Saero looked into the trash can with a subtle expression.

“This is too little at least. You could collect chick tears and there would be more than this. It’s not easy to read history with such a small amount of blood, you know? To see his whole life, I must have at least one gourd (升, ~1.8L) of blood.”

“It doesn’t matter if it’s not all of his life. Even a single scene from the past is fine, anything that can serve as a hint.”

Whewww, Saero lowered his head and let out a sigh. A moment of silence passed between the two. The ticking of the wall clock was particularly loud. After thinking for a moment, he raised his head. DJ BzE

“I will try it once. However… To be honest, I don’t think I can tell. Besides, this is a very small amount, so I think it will take some time. I won’t be scolded if I fail, right?”

Saero had eyes of no confidence. The drooping corners of his eyes looked very sullen.

“Sure, don’t rush, take it slow.”

Saero said it would take some time, but Yoon Taehee really didn’t care. It was better to be slow and perfect than rushed and hurried. To get the desired result, it was important to be patient and wait. l85R0y

‘Why? Because I don’t want to be friends.’

Yoon Taehee chuckled silently. Of course, he expected that there would be no way he would amiably agree but he didn’t think that he would openly show his dissatisfaction. It seemed that the fastball didn’t work, so he had no choice but to go back… Yoon Taehee stared at his shadow, which stretched much longer than before. If you wait slowly and take your time, the moment will come when the float that has sunk to the bottom of the water will start to flinch.

Looking back, time was always on his side.

  1. Yoon Taehee annoyed me this chapter. A little calculative okay but what he is doing now, I don’t like it.

    • Theres no realistic way for him to learn more about the guy any other way bc hes so closed off. Also, why not use the resources at his disposal? It’s not hurting anyone.

      • Because he is learning someone else’s private information (his whole life) without permission. I would be okay with him learning a few information like his age but his whole means everything about him which includes the things he may not want anyone to know.

        • I see what you’re saying but he doesn’t necessarily want to know everything about his life. Also, you cant forget how closed off jaegyeom is so I’m cutting Yoon some slack in this case. We need to crack him. I highly doubt he would just open up bc hes too hurt from the past.
