It’s scary because it’s too normal, with an overemphasis on how beautiful everything is, which in a horror setting always means that there is something influencing either your consciousness or your perception of reality / the world around you.
Honestly, it sounds like there’s some eldritch horror squatting in the lake. Would also explain the ‘Deep Blue’. And why everything is ~so beautiful~… An instance that makes you slowly forget it’s an instance? But it seems to be fighting against the CoD.
Also, there’s a Lovecraft story where especially artists were influenced by a strange, horrific dream. And the architecture related to gods in Lovecraft stories is often ancient, unexplored and mysterious and so on, so that might be it?

yep I get the hibby jibbies from this instance for no reason and was about to comment on how abnormally normal and beautiful place this is for a horror game that involves death… But I was thinking something like a virtual simulation or an ouroboros cycle where you can never break free and eventually the players go insane and their only chance at escaping is to guess who the ghost is…
Virtual simulation sounds like an instance in an instance, but that was basically the Mini Games thing. As for an endless cycle, that seems to be contrary to the CoD’s rules, but if they forget the contents of the instance after leaving it, or forget that they’ve already experienced the first day at the end of the first day and then believe that they’ve just entered the instance even though it is day two…
But Deep Blue isn’t that kind of arc. I think another unlimited flow novel had that anterograde amnesia arc, but I forgot which. Another had retrograde amnesia where they forgot they were in an instance, that was “non-human seeking reemployment”.
ahhh yes non-human seeking employment I still have to finish reading!!! QAQ yeat another added to my unfulfilled list…… lol idk what to think about this arc it’s just generally confusing, though I’ll be waiting for it to finish and figure out this confusing plot in one fell swoop (૭ ｡•̀ ᵕ •́｡ )૭
Is this gonna be a zombie arc? Maybe it refers the zombie king lol. It doesn’t sound so simple though.

The sense of absolute loss of control for an unidentified reason is always the most intimidating of any horror setting for me. Like I can accept if I’m just not fast, strong, or smart enough, but having something totally outside my control messing with me? Spoopy. That probably says something about me though, doesn’t it? Haha
the scariest part of this chapter is the fact that i just learned that this is the second to last arc… what am i gonna do when i don’t have a fei and saman to look forward to every week anymore??!! 💔
also i feel like the lake definitely has something to do with the instance, like there’s an ancient existence sleeping in the lake and it noticed a fei and likes him, so it gooped the guy who bumped into him. like when it said that an eye opened in a crack in a deep conciousness or something and his soul reached out to it… having some sort of ancient monstrosity be interested in a fei seems like something cod would do

I have a bold theory on RYF ordinary identity! What if Zhang zhengyuan is already dead and RYF is the one who took over his identity so the resume showed the body information not his own identity in the instance !!

sorry but my peanut size brain can’t comprehend, pls pls elaborate or rephrase your sentence cuz if I got it right you mean that A’Fei wasn’t the first host of the body but the resume actually showed A’Fei the identity of the previous player in the instance that died in that body? Gosh that would make so many pits for A’Fei then cuz the character identity is one of the most important things in acting good luck to A’Fei QAQ
