  5. Ah, their little digs at each other adds a perspective I should have gotten long before. The Protector God is supposed to choose his dragon from all the princes. Having been chosen, it makes a little sense to feel displaced when that Phoenix then goes on to get a stable of concubines. So when the previous emperor, Qiqi’s Father, made his own choice instead of following the the rules, essentially he was telling their generation’s Phoenix who his partner would be instead of letting him choose his own. That’s even more disrespectful than it looked at first, considering the nature of the dual cultivation 😳. I wonder if the first and second princes would have still destroyed each other and the empire if their father had appointed Chen Ziqi like he was supposed to.
