  9. There’s an interesting piece of trivia in this chapter… the ‘precious horses’ have ‘blood-colored sweat’ that flows out of their shoulders. In Arabian horses, a traditionally prized marking is a grey horse that retains the red original color on its shoulder. It’s called ‘bloody shoulder’, and looks somewhat like a bloody stain on the white (grey) coat. It should be noted that it actually has nothing to do with blood, it’s just an area of the coat that didn’t turn white due to the dominant grey gene. (No animals are harmed in the occurrence of this marking, it’s purely due to genetics and chance.)
