  1. Not a Native English speaker, and I doubt this is even originally English, but what is poudrette and what is rett?

    • According to Merriam Webster (dictionary), poudrette refers to dried deodorized night soil mixed with various substances (as charcoal and gypsum) and used as a fertilizer. Rett is a term commonly used in agricultural studies. It refers to the “Retting process”. According to Wikipedia, retting is a process employing the action of micro-organisms and moisture on plants to dissolve or rot away much of the cellular tissues and pectins surrounding bast-fibre bundles, and so facilitating separation of the fibre from the stem.

:> hope this answers your question! I’m not sure if they are originally english as well, or imported from another language, like French.
