After school, all the members of the study group were invited to Monica Wiley’s restaurant. Seth was over the moon when he saw how happy his classmates-slash-friends while eating and chatting with each other. Free meals were the only thing Seth could offer them to show how grateful Seth was for his friends support during the cheating issue. He didn’t expect for them to publicly show their support toward him. Seth was so used to being ignored by his classmates, he didn’t think they would take his side against Chuck Mallory. But, they did. Thankfully, they did. Seth felt blissful.
Of course, Seth’s wonderful, handsome, caring, and lovable boyfriend Gil was also there. Seth heard from Paul that it was Gil who planned everything. Seth was very fortunate to have someone like Gil who would do everything just to make him feel loved and worthy of happiness.
As per Chuck Mallory and his mom, Seth’s mom told him about what happened after he left the principal’s office. As expected, Chuck’s mom was not very pleased with the result of the investigation. However, the old lady became pretty tamed in front of Dr. Hugo and the rudeness in her voice and actions disappeared magically. Chuck’s mom demanded in an unusually gentler voice to let Seth and Chuck retake a different set of exams, so that, she could really accept that there was no cheating involved. Seth’s mom immediately agreed to Chuck’s mom preposition. The principal accepted the request.
So, the next morning, Seth Wiley and Chuck Mallory both were called in to the principal’s office. The two were given a new set of exams. There were four teachers who facilitated the exam. Principal Tanner was also there to observe. It took Seth and Chuck the whole school period to finish. It was mentally and physically draining for the two of them.
When the results came out the day after, Chuck Mallory’s average score was 78.90% while Seth Wiley got 98.80%. It only solidified the fact that Seth didn’t cheat on the midterm exams. Because even without any solid preparations for the retake, Seth got an almost perfect score anyway. Chuck’s mom would be furious, but Seth didn’t care. He did his best so no one could accuse him of cheating ever again.
“You did great!” Gil was smiling from ear to ear when he approached Seth inside the classroom. “Do you want to come with me after school?”
“Where are you taking me?” A playful smile formed on Seth’s face.
“Well actually, I do not have a particular place in mind. I was hoping that you’d tell me where you want to go. I mean, anywhere is fine. Just tell me.”
“Are you asking me out on a date?”
Gil had a huge grin on his face. “Yes.”
Seth giggled. “Hmm, I have a place in mind.”
“That’s great!”
Seth gave his boyfriend a teasing look. “It’s an exciting place where we can be loud, sweaty, and maybe a bit out of breath. Are you sure you want to go there with me?”
Gil swallowed hard. “W-what kind of place are you talking about?”
Seth winked at his boyfriend. “Follow me…”
Gil’s face was so ready it was obvious he was thinking of something naughty.

Seth pinched Gil’s arm for teasing him. His boyfriend didn’t even budge instead Gil lovingly kissed Seth on the cheek again.
Ah, Seth couldn’t help but fell harder for Gil.
The two enjoyed their time together.

Seth fell asleep late last night. So, when he opened his eyes the next morning, he expected to see the sun shining brightly in the sky. However, the only thing that he could see when Seth opened his eyes was darkness.
Was the power cut off? Seth tried to blink his eyes to make do of his surroundings. But he couldn’t really see anything. As if everything was swallowed up by a black hole and there was no light coming through.
Or did he start going blind? Seth switched into panic mode. What the hell was happening? Why couldn’t he see anything? He rose from his bed and planned to get out of the room. However, when Seth planted his feet on the ground, he felt there was something wrong. Heck, his feet couldn’t feel the ground at all. It was as if he was floating. His body felt light.
Seth closed his eyes. He was scared and not sure what was really happening. He just felt the wind blowing, caressing him to stay afloat. Was he really floating in the air? Well, it felt like he was really floating. Seth’s eyes remained closed. Was he having a nightmare?
He tried to shout for help. But there was no sound that came out of his mouth. Seth tried again. He shouted Gil’s name, but, still, there was no sound. He tried and tried and tried, but to no avail. Seth started to panic again. His breathing became heavy and when he thought that he was going to faint, a sudden burst of light appeared as if trying to blind Seth even with his eyes closed.
Seth blinked his eyes several times. When his eyes finally adjusted to the sudden change, Seth gasped when he realized he was up in the sky floating like it was nobody’s business. Under his feet was the view of the city. He didn’t know how he could do it, but Seth started to maneuver his body. He was flying, man!
Seth flew toward places he was familiar with. The fear he was feeling earlier suddenly vanished and was replaced by excitement. He flew and flew and flew to his heart’s content. He enjoyed the scenery very much. He wished Gil was there with him.
When Seth flew over the building where his mom used to work, he saw a familiar figure came out of the building. Seth flew closer to the person. He was surprised to see that the figure was really his mom. How could that be? His mom had stopped working for that company and started to manage her own restaurant.
Seth observed his mom walking on the sidewalk. Then, he saw a suspicious car driving slower than the others. It looked like the car was following his mom. Seth flew toward the car and he was surprised to learn that his body could slip through inside the vehicle like he was a ghost,
He gasped when he saw the face of the driver. It was Ned Swan! His mom’s former boss. The one who assaulted his mom and went to prison.
“If I can’t have you. Then, nobody can, Monica Wiley…” Ned Swan uttered to himself.
Seth realized what was happening. What he was seeing was the memory from his previous life. The gods bestowed to him the truth behind his mom’s ‘accident’.
He saw his mom walking unaware of what was really happening inside Ned Swan’s car. Seth wanted to scream. He wanted to stop Ned Swan on what he was about to do. But Seth couldn’t do anything. He couldn’t move. He couldn’t touch people or things. He was just floating inside the car. He was there just to watch the incident that was about to unfold.
Ned Swan accelerated the car. The despicable man honked at his mom to catch her attention. When she turned around, the car hit her without any mercy. Ned Swan didn’t waste any time. He maneuvered his car back to the road and sped up like he didn’t do anything evil. Seth saw his mom’s bloodied body on the sidewalk. People immediately surrounded the area.
Seth moved closer to his mom’s body, however he couldn’t touch it. He heard someone called the ambulance from someone’s phone. Good thing, phones with HD cameras were not yet invented during that time. Seth felt numb while looking at his mom. In his previous life, he was told that a drunk driver caused his mom’s ‘accident’. All along, it was Ned Swan. Fucking Ned Swan. It was not enough for him to assault Seth’s mom, that devil man went on and killed her.
Seth could not speak, but his tears were graciously rolling down his cheeks. He felt his heart torn into pieces upon seeing his mom’s lifeless body. The pain of losing someone you loved dearly was indescribable. He couldn’t think of exact words to describe his grief. Seth couldn’t do anything but cry. He saw the ambulance arrive. But that didn’t ease the pain in his heart. Seth was about to hop on the ambulance when suddenly….
He woke up!
Seth opened his eyes. He immediately got off from the bed and went outside his room. Seth realized that the reason why the gods revealed the truth of his mom’s untimely demise in his previous life was because today was supposed to be the day of his mom’s death.
Seth immediately went outside the house. He didn’t even bother wearing his shoes or slippers. He didn’t even change from his pajamas. He wanted to see his mom right at that moment. She must be at the restaurant.
Seth ran as fast as he could to the bus stop. His vision was blurry because of crying nonstop. His heart was aching. He wouldn’t let his mom die again. No.
Because of his appearance—wearing pajamas, not wearing shoes/slippers, crying his heart out—people were looking at him with pity. However, Seth didn’t care. He kept on running…running…running…
He stumbled on a rock. Seth fell on the ground. His body ached because of the fall but he didn’t care. He tried to stand up but his vision was blurry because of tears and sweat combined. He felt dizzy, too. But Seth was determined to see his mom, to be with her. So, Seth crawled. He crawled his way to the bus stop,
However, before he could reach his destination, Seth felt strong hands touched his body and helped him to stand up. “Seth, why are you doing this?” said a voice familiar to him. A pair of arms wrapped around his body.
Seth felt secured inside those strong arms. He smelt the familiar scent that he was so accustomed every day. “Gil…” he said.
“I saw you running without shoes or even changing your clothes. I ran after you, I called your name, but it seemed like you didn’t hear me. Seth, you can tell me everything. I am here for you. You don’t have to keep everything inside. Please, let me help you.”
Seth felt Gil kissed the top of his head. He buried his face on Gil’s neck and continued to cry. When Seth gathered himself to speak, he said. “Gil, let’s go and see my mom!”
Gil just nodded. Then, to Seth’s surprise, Gil took off his own shoes and put them on Seth’s feet.
“H-hey—“
“Let’s go and see your mom, Seth.” Gil held his hand tightly.
“How about your shoes—”
“Don’t mind me.” Gil assured him. “I don’t want your feet to get hurt more than they already are.”
Seth felt his heart swell with so much love for his boyfriend. “Thank you, Gil. Thank you for being here.”
Gil smiled at him.
Seth fell in love with Gil once again.
