Henry’s POV

“You freak! Watch where you’re going!” An angry woman snarled at me and I couldn’t help but shrink due to the intensity of her voice.
I immediately panicked since the people that were passing started to stare at us.
‘This is all my fault, I should have looked at where I was going.’ I blamed myself in my head as she continued cursing at me. All I could do was lower my head to avoid the shame.
“Hey human plastic! Fuck off will you!” A shout suddenly penetrated my ears, and I slowly tilted my head a little to see who it was.
And I was shocked to witness a fuming Kara confronting the woman I bumped with, who showed an equally angry face as her. Kara examined me and I mouthed the words, “Just go,” but she remained standing there and gravely scowled at the woman.
“You were clearly at fault, I saw everything you old whore! He was literally on the side, is your mind full of dicks that you don’t even know right from wrong?” She snarled at her, and the woman was obviously displeased.
“Don’t meddle here Kara, you might have grown tough these years, but I advise you to leave or else–“
“Or else what? You’ll hurt me? Bitch please you can’t handle me, I can easily flip you off if I like, want me to show you?” Kara threatened her, and took a few steps towards her, and the woman instantly backed away.
“You!”
“I’ll deal with the both of you later,” She grumbled and walked away fast.
“Hey! What was that?! Come back here so I can show you my skills in ka~ra~te!” Kara yelled the word karate gradually as she raised her legs kicking the direction where the woman went with a goofy face.
The students were soon gone and everything went back to normal.
Kara fixed her hair and crumpled uniform and approached me with hurried strides. “Henry, are you okay? Did she hurt you or anything?” She asked with a voice full of concern.

She is such a good person, we only met today but she did that for me without any second thoughts. In my whole life, the people who showed me such honest gestures were only my family.

“Hey Henry, you okay?” I got out of my stupor when she snapped her fingers in front of my face, and I looked up at her, and I couldn’t help but hug her neck while tiptoeing a little and said “Thank you”.
“Woah, okay, okay it’s no biggie really, and I hate that woman, I just really wish I could have landed my fist in her face, talk about a waste of opportunity,” Kara mumbled with regret and closed her eyes which I think was for dramatic effect.
She really is something, I wish I could be like her, both strong and confident.

I told Kara that I was going to the cafeteria and she decided to come with me. After what happened, she was sure that this would be for the best.
“Your friends told me that they’d pick you up in detention, I guess they didn’t know that you were out already.” As soon as the words came out of my mouth, she started laughing hysterically.
‘What’s funny, is it something that I said?‘
“Those guys are awful, up till now they still think that I would actually sit still for three hours in the detention room, like what lame ass person would do that.”

So I really was lame after all. I can still remember sitting patiently in the chair for 8 hours in detention for being late.

“You don’t really have to go with me,” I insisted to her, but she just made some funny noises to imply that I was being impossible.
“Ok fine, let’s do this. Once we get there, you go to your brother, and I myself on the other hand will search where those three dumbasses has wounded up to. Deal?”
I peered at her trying to see if she was trying to trick me, but I think she wasn’t. So I gave her a thumbs up while smiling to assure her that I’ll be fine.
Once we got there, she ushered me in a corner so we can properly look at where my bother was. I saw Grey sitting with a bunch of rowdy people, and now I wasn’t sure if I want to go there alone anymore.
Except, before I could voice out my thoughts, Kara was already far while sending me flying kisses, “I’ll see if I can find them, don’t go anywhere just stay here! We’ll come to you!” She shouted while her figure slowly disappeared from the sea of people.
I took in a long breath and slowly walked towards where Grey was.
“Hey, new kid right? Come join us.” A tall brown haired guy called me, but I pointed at Grey and told him that I was going to eat with my brother, “Sure, next time then.” He said and winked at me.
I clumsily walked away and proceeded to go. There were a lot of guys who were circling my brother, laughing and murmuring in his ears, actually it was just three but still, that number is enough to make me release a cold sweat.
“Grey,” I tried to interrupt them, but they didn’t hear me. So I decided to poke my brother’s back to snatch his attention, and it was a success!
“Henry, your here!” My brother said in surprise and took my hand and placed me in front of him to face his new friends, they were all huge, so I was a bit intimidated by their presence.
“Guys this is my little brother Henry, bud say hello to them.” Grey encouraged me and I let out an audible “Hello.”
“He’s quite small, don’t ya think?” A black haired guy said while grinning, and my brother quickly defended me and told them that I was just late with puberty, and that it was okay because I was cute.
‘His remark didn’t really help me though, plus I don’t think that 5’6 was small, they were all just crazy tall.‘
“Henry right? Hi, I’m Carter Dawson, a pleasure to meet you.” A guy wearing glasses like mine, lend his hand in front of me. He had a brown hair, and his eyes were the color of the sea, so deep and serene. I shook his hands and took my hand back, but the other blonde guy they were with held my hands in place and caressed it.
“Ohh my! I see your future dear Henry! It will be so so bright, full of happiness, and most importantly full of sex… HEY OUCHHH!!!”
The guy’s hair was pulled by Carter and he was forced to let go of my hands, “Stop talking nonsense! Sorry about that Henry, his name is Bryce, forget what he said.” He said to me and looked at his friend with piercing eyes.
“And you! Don’t contaminate this young man’s mind with your stupid ideas.”
“Tch! Doofus,” The raven haired guy snickered and moved his eyes to look at me, “Hi there Henry I’m Blaze, I can be your friend, but if you want more I can be the fire that will help warm you in the cold night.” He said with a silvery voice, and my brother unknowingly clasped his arms in my shoulders.
“Hey stop that! This is my brother, you jerk!” Grey yelled at the man, and Blaze’s mouth curved into a sly smile.
‘Why did he get angry?”
“Bud, some of the guys aren’t here, but I’ll introduce you to them another time. By the way, how was your day?”
I got excited about his question and told him that I made some new friends. I asked him if it was okay that we eat outside, and he said that there was no problem.
My friends were still not here, so I just sit obediently and listened to their conversation while I wait for them.

Minutes passed, and I suddenly felt shivers running down my spine. What … This feeling again?!
“Alex! Here bro!” Blaze abruptly got up and shouted, waving his hands in the air while looking at someone behind us.
I turned my head around and saw that he was talking to a dangerous looking guy. My heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat because of the way that guy stared at me.
It was just for a second, but I definitely saw him looking at me differently. And since I was a scaredy cat my flight instinct immediately pushed through.
“Boo, I should go.” I wriggled in my seat and picked up my things preparing to leave, but Grey stopped me.
“Meet Alex first, he’s the captain of our team, and he’s actually a genius like you Bud, you’re going to like him” Grey said, but my head was in a turmoil trying to think of a reason to leave.
‘I see danger reeking off of that man!’
The guy sat across me and I turned my head down refusing to look at him. Grey was telling me to say hi, but I didn’t budge. I scarcely sense this kind of feeling, but most of the time I’m right.
“Sorry Alex, my brother is quite shy. Bud he means no harm, it’s okay you can talk to him.” Grey whispered to me, but I believe otherwise.
It must have been almost a minute, and I didn’t want the atmosphere to feel awkward, especially for my brother. So I titled my head gradually and travelled my eyes from his shoulders,to his neck, his face, and finally… I looked him in the eyes.
He was already gazing at me with an amused expression, and I felt coldness wash over my body.
‘Why can’t they see it?! He was eyeing me like I was… like I was his prey!“
