The hovercraft was parked on the other side of the crack. Chu Shi and Angus peered down. Chu Shi’s expression changed when he saw the swarm of huge crabs. He decisively turned and ran off. “Get back!”
His subordinates who were further away followed him back, but Angus stayed a few more seconds. A sharp pain struck his calf as soon as he turned around. Shockingly enough, a crab that had climbed up caught him.
He tried to tug his leg out to no avail. Soon the other leg was also clamped by a crab. Sickening crunches came as the bones snapped. Angus howled miserably as collapsed.
“Save me, Deacon Chu!”
Chu Shi turned and fired at the two crabs, but more crawled up and clamped down on Angus’ limbs as he shrieked at an inhuman pitch.
Crack.
When the iron pincer clamped around his neck closed, Angus’ head dropped, twisted at an unnatural angle. His screams came to an abrupt end.
Chu Shi stopped bothering with him, striding toward the car. “Everyone in, now.”
Yan Bubu and Feng Chen were climbing away from the beach along the pole when Feng Chen saw A-Dai hanging in midair, as well as the translucent snake wrapped around the pole at one end.
A-Dai tilted her head back and stared at him, her gaze still unabashedly venomous despite the surging swarm of crabs below.
Feng Chen waited for Yan Bubu to crawl over the snake unhindered before pulling his dagger from his back and steadying it above the snake.
A-Dai was unphased to see him pull out a dagger. Only after realizing he was targeting the snake wrapped around the pole did panic and disbelief colour her expression.
“You, you can see it?”
Feng Chen didn’t answer. He just raised the dagger and stabbed down without hesitation. The tip of the dagger sunk easily into the snake’s body.
Although no blood spurted out and there was no resistance, the snake let out a loud hiss as a black smoke rose from its body.
The translucent snake raised its head that was wrapped around A-Dai’s waist and swayed from side to side in pain. Seeing Feng Chen raise his dagger again, A-Dai shrieked, “You’ll regret this, kid! My master will hunt you down to the ends of the earth and make you taste a fate worse than death!”
She breathed heavily as she looked up at Feng Chen, but was shocked to discover the teenager didn’t seem phased in any way by her threat. His dark, bottomless eyes were completely devoid of emotion.
Only then did fear begin to creep up on A-Dai.
This teen was different from others his age, cold and steadfast. Not only could he see her snake, he was ready to kill her without hesitation.

Feng Chen glanced at Yan Bubu in front of him. The child had reached the end of the pole. Upon realizing Feng Chen wasn’t behind him, he tried to come back.
“Stay there and don’t move.” Feng Chen barked.
Yan Bubu immediately stilled.
A-Dai continued, “You won’t accomplish anything by killing me aside from angering Annujia–”
A cold glint flashed in Feng Chen’s eyes at those words. He stabbed down again. The tip of the dagger pierced through the body of the snake like air, colliding with the metal pole in a shower of sparks. A clear, crisp sound rang out.
The translucent snake’s body writhed as more black smoke emerged from the area like it had been burned by an iron. Still. it refused to let go of the pole.
“Don’t do it! Don’t!”
Feng Chen ignored A-Dai’s cries and coldly raised his dagger again.
Bang!
Across the crack came a gunshot, Feng Chen instantly ducked. The bullet grazed his scalp as it passed.
“Young Master!” Yan Bubu shouted in fright.
That hovercraft was half suspended in the air, the area beneath swarming with iron pincered crabs. Chu Shi aimed his gun from the window at Feng Chen.
Feng Chen had to give up on the snake and make a run for it on the pole. With each gunshot, sparks flew behind him.
The crabs underground continued to climb out, some having already reached the base of the pole. They leapt and tried to latch on with their spiky feet.
“Get down, get down! Don’t come over.” Yan Bubu yelled at the crabs that were climbing up the pole he was straddling.
Seeing the crab in the front crawling closer, he actually made a fist to smash it.
Before his fist could make contact with the open iron pincer of the crab, he was lifted into the air by his back. The large pincers full of burrs slipped past his face.
Feng Chen carried Yan Bubu as he ran down the pole so fast the crabs didn’t even have time to reach over with their pincers. He even kicked two of them off on the way.
Yan Bubu has gotten used to being grabbed by the back like this. He stayed still in Feng Chen’s grip and even shifted so Feng Chen could hold him more firmly.
Feng Chen ran all the way out of the beach before looking back. He happened to meet Chu Shi’s eyes.
Chu Shi’s chilling eyes and expression were illuminated a ghastly white by the hovercraft’s interior lights. He slowly stretched out his mechanical arm from the car window and made a shooting motion at Feng Chen.
Feng Chen just regarded him coldly, but Yan Bubu angrily raised both his hands and took aim at Chu Shi. He made shooting noises with his mouth.
“Bang bang. I’ll kill you, bad guy.”
Then he made a throwing motion accompanied by a sound effect, as if he was tossing a bomb. He chanted unintelligible words like Awubengga or something.
It was not until Feng Chen carried him away that he blew the imaginary smoke from his index fingers and holstered his hands in the chest pocket of his overalls.
Feng Chen was worried that Chu Shi would come after them, so he headed in a remote looking direction and found an outdoor parking lot. Looking around to make sure no one was there, he got into a school bus parked there.
The bus door was open and there was no one inside. It was probably parked here when the earthquake happened and all the students and the driver had run out.
Feng Chen closed the front and rear doors before sitting down in the first row, trying to catch his breath.
Yan Bubu sat next to him and opened the cloth bag he carried around all the time. He took out a chocolate bar and tore open the wrapper with his teeth before bringing it to Feng Chen’s mouth.
“Have some chocolate, Young Master.”
Feng Chen had run out of energy at this point. His arms and legs refused to cooperate as his body involuntarily shook. He glanced at the chocolate and took a big bite, chewing slowly as he leaned back.
Yan Bubu waited for him to swallow the mouthful of chocolate before feeding him again.
Feng Chen pondered A-Dai’s words while eating. He suddenly asked Yan Bubu, “You couldn’t see that snake?”
“Snake?” Yan Bubu straightened up and looked around. “Where’s the snake?”
“That woman back there had a snake. Didn’t you see it?”
Yan Bubu blankly thought back for a moment before shaking his head. “I didn’t, ah.”
Feng Chen stared at him. “Since you didn’t see the snake, tell me why she was hanging in midair and not falling?”
Yan Bubu scratched his cheek. “I wasn’t paying attention.”
“Then were you paying attention when I stabbed that snake with the dagger?”
Yan Bubu was silent for a moment. “I wasn’t looking when you stabbed the snake. Maybe I was climbing then. I only saw you stab the power pole.”
Feng Chen’s hands subconsciously clenched, but he stopped questioning Yan Bubu and mulled over it himself.
His complexion looked better after he ate the entire bar of chocolate. Yan Bubu unzipped his backpack and took out a bottle of water. He used his teeth to slowly twist the cap.
Yan Bubu’s teeth make grinding noises as they grinded on the bottle cap. He also occasionally slurped back saliva. Feng Chen couldn’t stand it anymore. Holding out his hand, he motioned for Yan Bubu to hand the bottle over.
“No, Young Master, I’ll do it.” Yan Bubu, however, turned away and frowned. “I couldn’t open it earlier because I didn’t recite the magic spell.”
“What?” Feng Chen didn’t hear him clearly.
Yan Bubu solemnly recited, “Awubengga Adawuxiya.”
Then he grabbed at the air above his head and pressed whatever he caught there to his mouth. When he bit the cap this time, it rotated with a snap and opened.
“Here, water.” Yan Bubu handed the bottle to Feng Chen.
Although Yan Bubu only bit the cap earlier, Feng Chen still subconsciously wiped the mouth of the bottle with his sleeve.
There were only five bottles of water left, so Feng Chen only drank half and handed the rest to Yan Bubu, motioning for him to drink as well.

I’m expecting him to say it then unintentionally activate some type of ability and go “look young master! I did magic! I told you!” and Feng Chen just stands there in stunned disbelief
