Translator's Note

During traditional Chinese weddings, double happiness biscuits would be offered to the bride’s family. More than just a set of pastries to be given away, it is symbolic of the groom’s gratitude to the bride’s parents for having raised and taken care of her over the years and serves as an announcement of the couple’s marriage. The characters 囍 (double happiness) are printed on the pastries.

Translator's Note

A traditional Cantonese pastry with a thin crust of flaky pastry and made with a filling of winter melon, almond paste, and sesame, and spiced with five spice powder.
