The Black Saint is My StalkerCh61 - Buried before her

Miguel Ramirez wasn’t the Saint of Shields for nothing. That was to say, he wasn’t an imbecile.

Which really begged the question of why the Board was treating him as such. IYqtum

There was a comfortable high-end lounge inside the aircraft that hovered about the city of Darmine. Miguel was already too exhausted to summon his golden chariot. He sat, reclined against a leather couch, bleary eyes gazed upon the tall ceiling-high windows that gave a view of an endless blue sky and the sprawling city before.

The lounge inside the aircraft was no different than the lobby of a high-end hotel, filled with sleek decor and comfortable furnishing that promoted relaxation. There was even a pool table and a little bar that helped complete a leisurely atmosphere but Miguel was not at all relaxed. In fact, his body felt like lead.

Not only did his divine barrier eat away at his carefully cultivated reservoir of divine power, but he couldn’t even get a wink of sleep so long the spell was active.

Despite this, he was still acting as correspondence between the operation in Darmine and the Board. jHpcdO

If Miguel demanded reinforcements one more time, it would probably be seen as petty and rude. His eyes trailed over to the watch around his wrist, a humorless smile graced his lips. In fact, he must have demanded reinforcements from the Board at least twenty times in the last five hours without exaggeration.

Each time he was met with the same roundabout excuse. Something about awaiting status confirmation.

It was, to put eloquently, a load of bullshit because Miguel had furiously written a thirty-page report detailing as much of a situation as possible, even including lengthy descriptions of each individual operating in Darmine. What more could they want?

Of course, it was not so simple. The Board was not interested in a status report, but instead, it was the NUM itself likely holding reinforcements back, eager to gamble away lives to further some twisted political agenda.

Miguel was well acquainted with that by now, being a desk-bound official most of the time due to the unique properties of his miracle. But he couldn’t help but wonder which bastard was it that had more influence in the NUM than he, the Saint of Shields? Miguel inwardly vowed to hunt them down and give them a good scolding after this was all over.

His eyes fluttered closed, head throbbing with ache even after he downed another glass of water. He sighed, tapping into the large-scale communication spell and sent another twenty complaints as well as reinforcement requests to headquarters. All at the same time.

Ah, he was angry. Very angry.

But he was also very, very tired. A wave of drowsiness came upon him. The containment barrier wavered. P7gYmO

All hell broke loose.

Hugo lit another cigarette.

Oh, the sky was suddenly dark, sunlight obscured with smoke. His lungs itched. A terrible weight held him down; platinum blond hair tickled his cheeks. A dark eye was upon her brow, peering down at him and Hugo couldn’t move any of his limbs, completely paralyzed.

Well, shit. Looks like Felix was wrong, Hugo thought absently. The demon prince flashed a gentle smile, her pale lashes cast shadows on her dainty cheeks. “Hello, little lamb. It does seem that your soul is ripe for harvesting.” ALDbzR

Ah, fuck. Hugo blinked furiously as his final thoughts churned. His soul was practically blackened after controlling all those demons at once, making him a perfect meal…! He couldn’t even move a finger as the Demon Prince hunched over his paralyzed body. Her nails formed into sharp claws as they came down upon his chest.

Clothes ripped as she sunk her digits into his flesh as though it was made of dough.

Hugo screamed.

With the last of his strength, he desperately tapped into the communication spell. “Fuck, someone, anyone, dammit! HELP—” I6HKJ3

Bang. Bang. Bang.

The Demon Prince’s smile straightened. Her prey fell limp, bullets in his skull. With a sigh, she continued her work, praying apart his chest to access the dark organ within. Hugo’s heart was deliciously dark in hue, ripe and brimming with corruption. She plucked the meaty fruit from his chest before rising to her feet.

The prince took a tentative taste, sampling its juicy flavors. It was indeed a wonderful mix of conviction, despair, and fright. The taste was only marred by the thought that she could have sampled it while he was still in his death throes. But there just had to be vermin about, ruining her meal.

Her third eye veered, searching and fell upon that auburn-haired sentinel. He had a gun raised at her but his arms trembled. He cursed, throwing the gun aside, already knowing its futility against her, and stumbled back. HedJ8w

Amused, Andraste summoned her black war-axe into her right hand. She lunged forward.

Felix cursed, fumbling for the correct vials.

She was upon him in just a breath, except a silver chain lashed out before her, halting her advance. But even then, it took but a single strike to shatter the offending obstacle.

Another step and she was upon her foe. USDn5M

Even with his fumbling, Felix managed to uncap two vials, spraying out the liquid contents. An icy wall erected before him and he thought, for a moment, that he had a chance—

One swing and the wall was shattered.

The demon prince smiled. “Did you think that death would save his soul from me?”

And another swing, Felix’s head was cleaved right off. 4UxWQO

Andraste took a moment, her slaughter paused to savor the bloody prize she had in her hand. The mouth was coated red, but she did not seem concerned about the mess she was making. The dark third eye melted away into the flesh on her brow, the black halo appearing behind her head once more. The miasma around her doubled, the air was stifling, thick. Black flames licked the ground, chaos sewn with smoke rising. The divine barrier around the city was in shambles; leaking miasma outside.

The prince’s golden eyes veered around, falling towards a ruined black tent, half-collapsed. A lone figure stood there, his dark eyes sharp with determination, even at the face of death.

For what could he do? Jayden’s right leg was a wreck. He didn’t even have his shirt on, his torso wrapped in bandages. There was only enough time to shrug on a single gauntlet; the chains extending from it were slack and damaged. He didn’t even have any protective artifacts left to give him the barest minimum protection.

In short, Jayden was a goner. DXBygI

“You guys…should flee…” He rasped with a scratchy voice.

Survivors of the blast rose from the rubble; from the B-ranked or lower hunters and the medical staff that labored to attend to his wounds. All those things would prove to be futile.

The tension was thick, everyone waited and watched as the prince devoured the meaty organ, no one daring to make a move.

Jayden gritted his teeth, sucking in a painful breath, “Did y’all not hear me!? I said flee! Scram!” FIXuLh

And yet, no one did. Not even a single person.

“If Sir Jones is going to stick it out, then so should we,” someone said, their trembling voice raised.

“That’s right. We all have our duties.”

Duties? What for? To die in vain? No one was going to survive this encounter! Jayden’s fist tightened, the edges of his gauntlet cut into his skin. It wasn’t as though he had time to argue with them. lbgjW2

The demon prince devoured the last meaty bite, her golden eyes shining as they locked onto his own. Jayden held his breath because she was upon him for not even a second.

He tried to raise his gauntlet to meet the blackened axe but his muscles groaned with protest, moving at a terribly slow speed.

He didn’t even stand a chance.

Jong Kangdae and Cho Chaewon had six children. Of the six, Jong Seoyun, the second-born, was the biggest failure.

She was the only one that failed so spectacularly at spirit possession. She was the only one who dared to delve into techniques outside of their clan teachings. She was the one who rebelled and ran away from home in her teens, finding refuge abroad, under the tutelage of a foreign exorcist.

When Seoyun realized her blunder, it was all too late. All five of her siblings were buried before her and she couldn’t even do a single thing right in her whole damned life.

But in that moment, when the Divine Barrier faltered and the booming explosion shook the earth, Seoyun suddenly found that she did not care. g0WXTU

She did not care about her failures.

She did not care that she could never be her parent’s ideal heir.

That she was the final survivor of her family’s generation.

The sole thought that rang in her head was the desperate desire to succeed at that very moment. Not for herself, but for others. For little Kwangmin who lost his life at only twenty years old. For all her foolish siblings that she couldn’t save. For little Han Li, who would be Kwangmin’s age in only a few month’s time. d3WhpE

For the rest of her team, even Graham, Jayden, Hugo, and Felix too.

Seoyun found strength that she thought she lost, her legs striding wide as she broke into a sprint. The light upon her brow shined brightly, a halo began to glow around her head.

Story translated by Chrysanthemum Garden.

For the first time in her twenty-seven years of life, a powerful spirit heeded Jong Seoyun’s call.

  1. I still think that only Graham, Han Li and maybe Seoyun will be left alive after this mission ends… oh and Miguel. And if it ends in failure, the abominable, hateful, politically corrupted idiots from top management will put all the blame on Miguel for dropping the barrier and for the ground team for not standing up to the task. That said, the Prince cannot be left to roam free, she is too gory ( 😨🤢)

And I still can’t comprehend how a cutie pie like Han Li can be related to this … demon.
