The early morning sun filtered through the blinds of Wu Biaoqing’s room.
He stretched, still half asleep, and only realized after a while that he’d fallen asleep with his phone still in his hand.
He stretched more, feeling a little embarrassed, but he had to start his day nonetheless. Just as he was about to get out of his bed, a notification echoed through the room with a loud ding!

Awake?
He smiled then, without even realizing.
So far, Zheng Shun hadn’t missed a single good morning—

Your fault. Going to get ready, B4N
He turned his phone off and walked over to the bathroom, noticing his red ears in the mirror.
It was probably just hot.
Totally.
He brushed his teeth, casting a glance towards his screen ever so often, waiting for Zheng Shun’s reply, but it never came.
However, he did get a message from a certain popular streamer, who had been continually pestering him for another stream together.
Thinking he had nothing better to do, Wu Biaoqing finally agreed, and made his way to the LIFE training room.
In a shocking turn of events, both Men Wu and Chang Hui were there, but Xi Zhe was nowhere to be found.
“Where’s captain?” He asked, confused.
“He went to visit his mom, remember?” Men Wu reminded him dutifully, “he said she liked the presents we got her. Did you mute the group chat again?”
“Ah, you’re right,” Wu Biaoqing nodded, “you’re all too noisy late at night.”
“It’s not our fault you have a grandpa’s sleep schedule!” Chang Hui added as their teammate sat down.
Wu Biaoqing rolled his eyes, queuing up LOW.
He fell into a rhythm as he played a warm up round, so lost in the game he didn’t notice his phone go off until the match ended.
“Your boyfriend texted you,” Chang Hui said teasingly.
Wu Biaoqing frowned, “he’s not my boyfriend yet.”
“…yet?” His friend blinked, “Is that the part you should be concerned with?”
“Oh. Right.”
Luckily, FW was his saving grace, as he messaged asking if isolation was ready.
At his friend’s inquisitive gaze, Wu Biaoqing sighed, “I’ll explain later.”
With that, he opened up XtraF, and launched his live before his teammate could get another word in.
“Good morning everyone.” He greeted, voice deeper from having just been asleep.
[BaobaoBaobei: ahhh expressionless’s morning voice awsl]
[LOWislife003: he’s on early!! We’ve been blessed]
[onceamoon: waiting before the live started was worth it]
“Today, I’m going to be playing with FW,” he explained, ignoring as the chat got even livelier, “and two viewers.”
[misguided_apples: damn, he’s finally carrying our corpses]
[lovelypeaches: climbing through the ranks thanks to isolation… truly a dream come true]
[burntshoes: +1]
[notsotough: +2]
[retreat2defend: +3]
“Wait, don’t spam gifts please,” he added when the effects started appearing all over his screen, “the people we’re pulling are random.”
[Heaven_Sent: so cute :dutifullyexplainingisolation:]
[misguided_apples: nooo isolation let us spam gifts for you (T ^ T)]
[Z.fx2207: hoping to get picked 🤞]
[L@dylu3k: reposting all the lucky images I can 555]
[sevensenses: please pick me please pick me please pick me]
Wu Biaoqing clicked on a private voice call in LOW, and FW answered almost immediately with a cheerful, “hello everyone!”
“Good morning,” Wu Biaoqing greeted him, “ready to play squad?”
“Yep,” he could hear it in his voice that the youth smiling, even though he wasn’t watching his live stream, “I can finally show off my skills.”
“…finally?” The other streamer echoed, thinking back to their previous duo live stream with a sour expression that had his fans laughing.
[WuDu990: talented players are talented players.]
[lovelypeaches: isolation is so jealous 2333]
[burntshoes: a new eating lemons expression pack is coming soon :isolationlaugh:]
“Let’s pick a random viewer,” ForeverWin cut in, “let’s say… hm… the 6th person to comment on each of our streams!”
[sevensenses: AHHHHHH]
[lovelypeaches: +1]
[notsotough: +2]
[BaobaoBaobei: +3]
[Topofthe.world: +4]
[RedCamellia (supermod): +5]
[WuDu990: fuck??]
“Oh,” Wu Biaoqing smiled as he noticed who managed to comment sixth, “when did you join the stream? I didn’t see your welcome message.”
[RedCamellia (supermod): It’s a secret ╮(╯▽╰)╭]
[Z.fx2207: anchor admits to looking out for his top viewer, favoritism at its finest]
[Heaven_Sent: I suspect you’re driving and I have proof!!]

[lovelypeaches: KSWLLLL]
[confuzzled: faking gay to sell rot??]
[BaobaoBaobei: Experienced fan here! Absolutely no faking, this is just how those comrades act.]
“Enough,” the streamer sighed, “did you get your viewer?”
FW hummed agreement, “Yep! Please send your ID, so I can invite you to our team, meimei.”
“Send me your ID as well,” Wu Biaoqing said as well, thinking for a moment before adding, “…baby.”
[retreat2defend: fuck?]
[LOWislife003: regretting my username…]
[notsotough: regretting joining the live early…]
[Heaven_Sent: I REGRET NOTHING MY CP IS RIO AHHHHH]
[RedCamellia (supermod): Getting back at me? I’ll take what I can get \(//∇//)\]
“Mn,” Wu Biaoqing nodded, “karma.”
ForeverWin sighed loudly, “I feel like a lightbulb…”
“Let’s hurry up,” Wu Biaoqing cut him off, “your ID?”
[RedCamellia: LOW.Lotus]
He searched up the account, noticing that it was a completely new account made only a few minutes ago.
Had Zheng Shun never played before?
But he was known to give out some of the most cruel, honest, and correct analysis of livestreamer’s skills…
He shook himself out of his train of thought, and hurriedly sent the invitation to team up.
[Xmarksthespot: choosing at random and the biggest gifter still gets chosen? Rigged.]
[xx8382282: Who can he carry? Joining Isolation’s team is like digging your own grave.]
[fight4foes: trash anchor]
[WuDu990: Who the hell are you??]
“Ignore them,” said Wu Biaoqing, “let’s focus on the game.”
Internally, he was confused.
It wasn’t like he was popular enough to attract waves of antis, let alone so randomly.
It was most likely a water army, but who would hire them to attack a small-time professional gamer?
The more he thought about it, the worse he felt, but before he could dwell on it for long FW had already started the match.
“Can you turn your mic on?” Asked the live-streamer, switching from their private voice chat to the team one.
“I can,” a soft, feminine voice echoed through Isolation’s headphones as he switched to the team chat as well, “ForeverWin-gege, I’ve been your fan for so long. Thank you for choosing me!”
“Of course, all the pretty meimei’s in my stream deserve a chance to be carried by me!” He laughed.
“I feel like I’m glowing..” Isolation noted jokingly.
There was a light cough, and then, “Is it working?”
[Z.fx2207: holy shit??]
[BaobaoBaobei: …mom is going to be unfaithful, sorry isolation.]
[misguided_apples: such a nice voice, I’m blushing :isolationblushie:]
[onceamoon: RedCamillia officially has my blessing to take our family’s expressionless. I’ll be waiting for wedding invitations]
His voice echoed through Wu Biaoqing’s earbuds, somewhat familiar yet deep and sensual, and despite the obvious lack of a good quality mic, he still felt like he could hear everything, from the slight lilt in his tone to his quiet breathing.
He felt his face heating rapidly, and took a deep breath, “Yes, we can hear you.”
It wasn’t as if good voices were rare in the gaming community, what with hundreds of thousands of people playing on the daily, and Wu Biaoqing would never consider himself a voice con considering how many of such good voices failed to move his cold heart.
But there was something about Zheng Shun’s voice, which was light and carried with a subtle sense of confidence that wasn’t arrogant, but held a certain charm and a hint of humbleness that was hard to come by, that had his heart pounding wildly in his chest.
He almost wanted to stop the stream and immediately search up on baidu: what to do when I suddenly want to offer myself to the man pursuing me?
“Isolation-ge, save me! My fans are threatening to leave me for your viewer…” ForeverWin cried.
“It’s not like they can be your mom fans forever,” Wu Biaoqing shrugged, making FW gasp.
“I have plenty of girlfriend fans!” He huffed.
“Aren’t you a minor?” The other streamer asked, confused.
“…what?”
[burntshoes: who’s gonna tell him]
[neversurrender: isolation protection squad unite again! :isolationembarassed:]
[WuDu990: Suddenly his jealousy of FW’s skills makes more sense.]
[icingonthecake: ForeverWin fan here, we don’t blame you expressionless! Our FW… well, before he told us, we all thought he was still in high school too.]
“You’re not?” He realized, “that’s surprising.”
“Should I take that as a compliment?” FW sighed, exasperated, “I’m 25. Twenty. Five.”
Wu Biaoqing gasped, “You’re older than me?”
“Is that so hard to believe?” The other streamer wasn’t sure whether he should laugh or cry.
At that moment, there soft chuckle from a certain stream viewer, and Wu Biaoqing felt as though his heart had skipped a beat.
[retreat2defend: fuck, so handsome]
[Heaven_Sent: ahh so sue-ish! Domineering CEO energy is through the roof… :nosebleed: :nosebleed:]
[fz1273: relying on viewers to make it enjoyable, awful stream]
“No, you seriously thought I was younger?” ForeverWin cried, “my voice isn’t that misleading, is it?”
“…I thought you were a teenager.” Wu Biaoqing responded honestly.
[karmalucky: trash anchor]
[LOWislife003: wtf??? Where are these people coming from?]
[lovelypeaches: Who’s daring to send antis to attack our expressionless’s stream? Don’t think we can’t take you down!]
Isolation, noticing that the barrage wasn’t quite right, quickly changed the topic.
“Enough, let’s start the game,” he continued, “what are your character types?”
“I prefer to play as a fairy-healer,” the girl explained bashfully, “I would drag the team down even more otherwise.”
“I mainly play archer-assassin,” Zheng Shun added calmly, “but I can pick differently if needed.”
This struck Wu Biaoqing as odd, because if he really did download the game just then, he wouldn’t have had a main.
However, the gifter’s voice as he said it was incredibly pleasant to the ears, so perhaps he could let it slide until the livestream was over.
“No, that’s perfect!” FW exclaimed, “I’m a knight-goblin, and Isolation-ge is a warrior-thief, so no one needs to change their skins.”
Zheng Shun hummed, before remarking, “ge? Isn’t he older than you?”
“…let me feel young.” ForeverWin frowned.
“Weren’t you just complaining about me getting your age wrong?” Asked Isolation helplessly.
“It’s settled then,” the man pursuing him decided, “I’ll be the one to call him ge.”
[Z.fx2207: what is this ambiguous conversation? I’ve got goosebumps]
[BaobaoBaobei: babies are spreading the gay again… dbqdrl]
[Heaven_Sent: all dog food is good dog food, keep it coming!]
“I feel like I got caught in the crossfire of a lover’s quarrel,” FW pouted, feeling wronged.
“Sorry, he’s an idiot,” Isolation sighed.
“Don’t act innocent when you’re the one who started it!” Zheng Shun shot back, “this is me giving you well deserved karma, gege.”
Wu Biaoqing smiled at his antics, which had slowly been growing familiar as they chatted more often, “we’re live, behave.”
[Heaven_Sent: he actually meant: you can misbehave when we’re not live]
[onceamoon: the resident expressionless translator has spoken]
[notsotough: reporting this live for abuse]
[WuDu990: single dogs… unite…]
[confuzzled: +1 (´;ω;`)]
[lovelypeaches: +2 (╥﹏╥)]
[neversurrender: +3 (>﹏<)]
”[retreat2defend:
The other streamer silently started a new match, his fans already gearing up to make an expression back titled ever suffering third wheel FW, and he asked simply, “what realm?”
“Random,” Wu Biaoqing replied, “it’s good for the livestream effect.
The girl in their team laughed out loud, “are you repeating what someone else said to you?”
“…maybe.”
[burntshoes: cute!]
[misguided_apples: so cute]
[RedCamillia (supermod): too cute]
Wu Biaoqing paused, surprised, “you’re still watching the livestream?”
“Mn,” Zheng Shun nodded, “wanted to watch you.”
…one day, innocent bystanders were going to die from their blatant displays of affection.
In the end, they were randomly assigned to the city terrain, which was one of ForeverWin’s least favorites.
“Why is my luck so bad?” He pouted, “getting stuck in the middle of a couple, playing in the city…”
His female viewer frowned, cutting him off with a sentence that had their respective chats laughing wildly, “what are you going to add next, got put in a team with me?”
Wu Biaoqing paid no mind to the two who were squabbling, directly pulling Zheng Shun along to farm for materials and recruit more troops, dropping traps along the way.
“Ah, it feels so nice to be carried by you gege~” said the gifter coquettishly.
In his twenty-three years of life, Wu Biaoqing never thought he would experience a man younger than him act coquettishly with him.
More than that, he never thought that he actually wouldn’t mind it.
“Mn,” he hummed, “you can relax.”
As the game reached its peak, the other team continuously targeted their weakest member, the female viewer, who cursed rather colorfully.
Her attitude before, sucking up to FW and acting cute, was almost a complete inverse of her current one, and only the soft, cute voice remained the same.
Suddenly, a voice echoed through the all-players voice chat after she lured one of the players to their deaths, “How could you do that, you green tea bitch!”
The little meimei apparently saw red, as she fired back immediately.
“Fuck, who are you calling a green tea bitch, you sexless, fatherless, asshole?” Hearing such vulgar language from such a high pitched voice was admittedly rather funny, “Try harder, you RMB gamer.”
Suffice to say, the live stream team won that round.
“Join us another round?” Wu Biaoqing asked, pretending for it to sound casual, as the colorful female viewer left their team.
“Can’t,” Zheng Shun sighed, “I have to work.”
“Oh!” The streamer gasped, “sorry, I didn’t mean to keep you.”
“It’s fine,” he could hear Zheng Shun’s smile in his voice, even though he’d never seen it before, “see you later, ge.”
[neversurrender: spreading gay until the very end :isolationsigh:]
[Z.fx2207: a bent viewer is always a bent viewer..]
[retreat2defend: a bent anchor is always a bent anchor]
[BaobaoBaobei: waiting patiently for the official announcement of their relationship!]
“There won’t be one,” Wu Biaoqing sighed, thinking that Zheng Shun probably would issue an official statement on weibo detailing the process of this so-called pursing if he could, “alright, duo?”
Haha i like the female viewer! She was fun XD
Poor chat, always having to eat so much dog food (but at least they seem to enjoy it a lot, it’s their own personal soap opera)
Really curious about those hate comments, did this other team they had problems with send them? Isn’t it kind of Zheng Shun‘s job as a mod to regulate the chat? Or does this work differently here?
Zheng Shun’s never been a moderator before, and doesn’t know how to ban people, so unfortunately he’s a useless wifey in this case, at least during the live. Good luck next time, ZS ╮(╯▽╰)╭
Omg ahhh!!! It’s outtttt
Omg is there a behind the scene of how Zheng Shun reacted when isolation called him baby. Would love to read that
Zheng Shun smiled, watching the livestream while signing the last bits of paperwork he had left for the morning.
There was something about listening to Wu Biaoqing talking that made him feel calm—
He would laugh quietly in his office when something amusing happened, and occasionally had to pause as he didn’t mess up anything important.
He hadn’t laughed that much in a long time, not before he met the streamer.
Right as he set the last paper to the side, he heard FW say “let’s say… hm… the 6th person to comment on each of our streams!”
Zheng Shun hesitated before typing in the chat, only to realize he’d managed to comment 6th.
Ah, his luck struck again.
He happily created another alt account for LOW, thinking for a moment before naming it LOW.Lotus, keeping with the plant theme for no reason other than because plants were cool.
He casually replied to another person in the chat, before leaning back in his chair slightly.
He took a sip of his coffee, only to joke on it the next minute when Wu Biaoqing said, “Send me your ID as well …baby.”
For a moment his brain went blank, like an error screen on a malfunctioning computer, before he suddenly flushed bright red.
“Fuck,” he whined, “that’s cheating. Isolation, you’re a total cheater.”
…how was he supposed to wait until after the Candy Cone Cup to meet him again?
Zheng Shun was one more flustering comment away from showing up at his doorstep.
He sighed loudly, lightly banging his head against the table, trying to calm his fast-beating heart.
As he typed out a cool response in the chat, a man can never forget to be cool even when his mind was just filled with the echoes of a certain term of endearment said by a certain gaming streamer, when his assistant walked through the door.
“This document had a misprint,” she explained, “once it’s processed, we’ll officially own XtraF.”
Zheng Shun hummed, taking it before glancing at the live and frowning.
“Yin Lijuan, how do you ban someone?” He asked.
“…like, on the livestream?” She paused, “I’ve never been a moderator before, but can ask.”
“Don’t bother,” Zheng Shun sighed, “I’ll write down the IDs later. Just have someone permanently ban their IP addresses.”
“Remind me to never get on your bad side.” She sighed.
“I don’t have a bad side,” the CEO replied, “I’ve been told I’m attractive at all angles.”
His assistant burst out laughing, “By who? That streamer?”
“Not yet,” he smiled, “but it’s only a matter of time. Who can resist my charm?”
“…please review the documents quickly.” She replied flatly.
