While Noah was driving, a minor accident happened. Another car hit them from behind. Noah immediately stopped the vehicle and looked at Fran.
“Are you okay?” Noah asked Fran.
“Yes.” Fran replied immediately.
After that confirmation, Noah got off his car. Fran followed him. The driver of the other car got off his vehicle, too. The man was probably on his fifties. He looked apologetic.
“Are you both okay?” asked the old man. “I’m sorry for causing you harm.”
“We’re okay.” Fran answered him. The man reminded him of Mister Jin. “How about you, sir?”
“I’m fine.” The man replied. Then, he looked at Noah. “I..I..I’m willing to pay for the damage to your c-car…”
Fran noticed how the old man’s face changed expression while looking at Noah. He somewhat looked scared. So, Fran turned his gaze towards the man beside him. It was the first time for Fran to see Noah’s face became red in anger. He looked like he would explode any minute. Fran was so used seeing Noah smiling, laughing, and joking. It was as if Fran was looking at a different person. Though, somehow, he didn’t feel scared. This man was still Noah.
Fran tugged the hem of Noah’s denim jacket. Because of that, Noah’s face slowly turned back to its original color. The expression of anger on his face subsided. Noah met Fran’s gaze. The former mouthed the word “sorry” to Fran.
A highway patrol officer approached them. The incident caused traffic, so, they needed to settle it immediately. The driver wanted to pay for the damage on Noah’s car, but Noah just shrugged it off. He told the highway patrol officer that he didn’t need anything from the other driver and he was willing to forget the incident at all. The old man insisted, however, Noah didn’t budge. With the help of the highway patrol officer, the issue between Noah and the old man, was settled eventually.
Fran sighed in relief. They went back to the car and Noah continued driving.
“I’m sorry…” Noah told Fran.
Fran’s brow furrowed. “What are you sorry for?”
“For getting mad angry because of a simple accident.”
Fran looked at Noah in this belief. “It’s normal to be angry in that kind of situation. I know you acted like that because you’re concerned about our safety.”
He saw Noah shaking his head. “Don’t hate me, please.”
“Why would I hate you, Noah?”
“’Cause I got angry at that old man…”
Fran sighed. “What of it? He’s in the wrong for hitting your car. The important thing is, you accepted his apology. Getting angry is normal. We are all humans after all.”
“Just don’t hate me, Fran…” Noah said in a pleading voice.
Fran couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He looked at Noah and observed his facial expression. Noah looked dejected. Fran wanted to comfort this silly person. However, Noah stopped the car in front of a building. They had reached the studio.
“Do you mind going inside the studio ahead of me?” asked Noah. “I’ll just check the damage on my car.”
“No problem. I’ll wait for you inside.” Fran replied. He wanted to laugh. So, Noah was concerned about his car more than he could ever admit.

It was Addie who greeted Fran first. The former didn’t look startled at all. Moreover, Nico looked the same. The two acted like they were not bothered by Fran’s discovery of their ‘relationship’. Addie stood up from Nico’s lap. He approached Fran and gave him a smile.
“Where’s Noah?” asked Addie.
“I’ll set up the equipment.” Nico said while walking towards the direction where the musical instruments were located in the room.
Fran took a deep breath. If Nico and Addie were acting like nothing had happened, Fran was obliged to do the same. He was not in the position to question someone’s life. It was not right for Fran to stick his nose into someone’s personal business.
“Noah’s outside.” Fran informed Addie. The door of the studio opened. Noah stepped inside.
“You’re here…” Addie gave Noah a teasing smile. “I thought you ran away.”
Noah didn’t say anything. He just nodded towards Fran and walked his way to Nico. The two started to set up their instruments.
Fran felt a hand tap his shoulder. He looked at Addie. The latter motioned Fran to follow him. They ended up sitting on the couch where Nico and Addie were having an intimate moment not too long ago.
“Nico is not my boyfriend…” Addie told Fran.
He looked confused. “So, why…?”
Addie laughed out loud. “Why are we kissing? Fran, do you have any prejudice towards someone who kisses and sleeps with a person they do not have any romantic relationship with?”
“I believe everyone is entitled to their own choice. Who am I to judge?” Fran answered.
“You’re a sensible person. I like that.” Addie sighed. “Nico, Noah, and I are friends since childhood. We’ve always been together. It just so happens that Nico and I are attracted to each other sexually. We both agreed to be just casual about it. No strings attached. So far, we are enjoying each other’s company.”
“Does Noah know about you and Nico…?”

Addie looked at him intently. “Don’t you think Noah is too perfect?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, like he’s trying too hard just to be on your good side?”
Fran looked confused. “Noah is nothing like that. He doesn’t have to push himself just to gain my affection. He’s too good for me.”
“Don’t you think that’s the problem, Fran?” Addie kept on egging him. “Is there such a person who is too good for someone?”
“I don’t like where this conversation is going—”
“Don’t get me wrong, Fran. I am Noah’s friend. I care for him deeply. But…”
“But what, Addie?”
“I know you like Noah…”
Fran didn’t deny it. “Yes. I like him. Is there a problem with that?”
“There’s more about him than what he’s letting you on.”
“Is Noah a bad person?” Fran was starting to get mad.
“No, of course not!” Addie exclaimed. “Just forget what I said, Fran. I’m sorry if I make you feel uncomfortable.”
Fran didn’t say anything.
“Hmm, to make it up to you, let me show you pictures of Noah in his childhood…” Addie showed Fran his phone. “Look!”
Fran looked hesitant at first, but his curiosity got the best of him. He wanted to see what Noah looked like when he was a child. Addie gave him his phone to scroll through the photo gallery.
“I took those photos from the photo album in Nico’s house. We used to hang out there when we were kids.”
Fran was very pleased with what he was seeing. Noah was so cute in the photos. He looked playful and friendly. He saw photos of Noah with Nico and Addie. However, the photo that made Fran curious the most was the one where a teenage-looking Noah was embracing a beautiful girl with blonde hair.
“Who is this girl?” Fran didn’t hesitate to ask.
“Oh, that’s Chelsea…” Addie replied. “She’s one of our friends, too.”

“Have you heard of the name Chelsea Meyer?”

Fran, as reclusive as he was, knew about Chelsea Meyer because she was really famous. So, Noah was friends with someone like her.

Fran was left alone sitting on the couch. His gaze found Noah who looked cool with his bass guitar. Fran smiled at him. Noah just nodded.
So, Noah was still not in the mood, ah? He remembered what Addie said about Noah. Yes, no person in this world was too perfect. Too much was always a problem. Maybe Noah was showing him a perfect façade not because there’s something wrong with him, but there was a deeper meaning behind it. Whatever it was, Fran would always be on Noah’s side.
The band started playing. It was a song from a famous artist. Fran knew how to sing the song perfectly. He used to sing it when he was still active.
Nico stopped playing abruptly. “This song deserves to be sung. When will we ever find a vocalist? This sucks!”
Noah just shrugged. He looked fed up.
Fran thought of an idea to cheer Noah up. He stood up from the couch and approached the band. “Can I try singing the song?”
“Yes! Go ahead.” It was Addie who sounded excited.
“What? I thought you do not know how to sing?” Nico said in an annoyed voice.
“Fran, you don’t have to do this…” said Noah. “I know you’re—”
“I want to do it.” Fran was determined.
“Okay. If that’s what you want.” Noah sighed in resignation.
Fran took the microphone from the stand. It was the first time, since he stopped singing, that he felt confident enough to sing again. Maybe because he was not singing for himself; but for someone important to him. He was singing for Noah.
The band started to play the song. When it was Fran’s turn to sing, the whole studio heard an enchanting voice filled the whole room. Fran sounded like a professional singer who already produced multiple albums. He was that great of a singer to the people who heard him sing.
While singing, Fran looked at Noah’s direction. He saw how Noah’s jaw dropped in surprise. Fran smiled at him while he continued singing.
Then, he saw Noah mouthed to him the words: “You’re a fantastic singer, Fran…” and Noah finally smiled at him.
Fran was too happy for making Noah smile again. He did his best until the end of the song. When the song finally finished, silence filled the whole room.
“You’re seriously good!” It was Addie who broke the silence. He started making noise using the drums.
“You sound god-like, Fran!” It was Nico. His eyes were sparkling in excitement. “Be our vocalist!”
“NO!”
Fran and Noah both said the same thing at the same time. Then, they both started to laugh. Noah put down the guitar and stood beside Fran. Noah grasped Fran’s hand. They looked at each other and started laughing again.
Addie stared at them in disbelief; while Nico was still pleading for Fran to be the band’s vocalist.
Of course, Fran refused him again.
Thus, Nico got his heart broken for the first time.

Well, Noah did seem a little too perfect, but partly because he was so open with his feelings. If his temper comes out the same way as his exuberant happiness, that old man might have been in trouble if Fran wasn’t there. If that’s the flaw Addie’s hinting about.
