  1. I… don’t know if my heart is tranquil or it’s wrenched at the moment. Thank you so much for translating this novel, it was such a wonderful journey, it was always surrounded by a dark filling, but positive/pure emotions emerged from time to time making you more and more attached to it. I believe this is a story that stays engraved in your heart forever, the kind that will make you utter sighs filled with complex emotions every time you recall it. I will miss Ethan so much and Tanisiel too T^T I love their love and want them to live happily ever after and till the end of the universe and beyond!!! I want to hug Samuel and Schneider even if they are worms that may take my life, I don’t care, I want to pet them I also want them to be a happy worm family forever and ever and more T^T

    Omg i have mixed feelings about the ending. Welp it’s not as bad as i thought. The dream was so sweet, they got to experience a normal happy life😭 even if it’s not real, i don’t need to worry too much right, since they are powerful beings.

    I see the nasty as shit Earth Union is still standing. Ig samuel and schneider’s deaths might be the best ending for them. I myself would rather disappear than living in such a fcked up nation. I wish they could live a happy life tho T…T

  5. Personally, I feel content by this ending, not too open-ended – where it doesn’t mention the main characters at all (by far the most annoying ending in my mind). I’m happy I was able to read this novel. Thank you.

  6. damn… idk how to feel about the ending, but at the same time it’s probably the ending that fits the best, and i don’t think i could take it another way. in a sense they are truly together where there is no pain, but the ongoing troubles of reality won’t disappear… it also makes my heart ache for samuel and schneider – hoping that the two in their worm-y forms are doing ok and well 😭

  8. I really don’t know what to say. The author is really black hearted. They made me suffer a roller coaster of an emotion throughout the novel. The novel was sometimes, very sweet, sometimes it was just plain sad, sometimes it was bittersweet and all.. but still at least ethan won’t have to be alone in the end.

  10. Thank you so much for sharing this work with us! Beta MCs in ABO novels are quite rare, and intersex characters and OO pairs more so. Each of the atonement arcs (excluding Mars) had their own special kind of horror so I can’t choose which one is the scariest, but ngl even trying to survive in the Forbidden City is another nightmare itself. (Not to mention the morality points system…Getting people to report and turn on their neighbors/acquaintances to earn points is so ingenious, cruel and more “evil” to me than the eldritch monsters)

    Other interesting background/worldbuilding tidbits that have good story potential would be the Pales planet’s civilization (the horned people with their giant worm overlords), the whole Earth Union vs Ophiuchus Alliance power struggle, the barely-mentioned Third Empire, and even those underground something-ghosts(?).

    All in all, this was an interesting read and thank you so much again! ❤️

    • I know right those pairs/characters are rare! Another reason for this to be called a treasure. The author did not cower away from writing not that happy ending (like all problems are solved and the all is perfect for the main characters) The author wrote the story based on how it should be without a ‘illogical’ golden cheat that forces things to be connected and makes everything go well in the end.

  14. I did have reservations at the start of the story, but the concept was worth sticking around for. Overall a good read, the inconsistencies that bothered me at first smoothed out considerably as the writing progressed. I did kind of hope Ethen would end up dying… but it was an interesting ending.

  18. Overall, It is a good story. But my own bias personal rating for this novel is 4/5 stars. I consider Ethan as a useless mc that can’t survive without love. I’m not a fan of this kind of troupe. At some point while reading the novel, Ethan annoyed me. I’m looking forward to other side character apperances.

The author is absolutely brilliant, this is the first time in a long time that I’ve actually wept like full blown tears, the story telling, the plot, the emotions, everything was insane. This was most probably the best ending that ethan could have gotten given the absolute chaotic nature of their universe(s) and though it’s so, so bittersweet and I’m completely heartbroken for all the characters we met along the way, I’m glad that the story ended the way it did.

    I get so enraged whenever i see people calling Ethan weak, because that’s absolutely not how I see his character. It’s the story of someone who’s craved affection beyond anything else, and it made absolute sense for Ethan to see Tanasiel as his lifeline considering that despite how he was using him too, he was the only one who actually showed any sort of affection and care towards him. I’ll always remember the scene where he went insane for the first time and hid in that cave and Tanasiel gently urged him out of his cocoon of tentacles and called him beautiful. That is so !!!!!!!!!! AAAAAA. He’s so so kind to Ethan, and I’ll forever be in awe of the gentleness of their relationship. I’m going to cry forever for every single character who left us with broken hearts. Tysm 🥺

    • Same thoughts! I absolutely adore how human Ethan is and how he’s not the typical OP aloof mc. I think that him loving Tanisiel and having the priest as his reason to live is completely reasonable, perhaps its because I could see myself in Ethan (lmao i’d prolly blacken earlier than him bcs of my weak will to live) Im happy to know that someone has the same opinion as mine 💪

      • he was already so disillusioned with the world and we got to see the whole heartbreaking process of him losing every last strand of hope as he got manipulated into situations that would only push him into more corners. I thought that gradual loss of faith was so stunningly portrayed and that despite of it all, the fact that he wanted to cling onto one last bit of hope was like you said, such a human thing of him to do. I have so many emotions hahahaha

  21. I hate myself for reading this novel. It’s heartrending and very philosophical, but not the fun easygoing romance I need in my current depressed mood. I feel so sucked out, and now I also have to stay up all night doing hw… I truly hate myself, but thank you for the author and translator for bringing me such an interesting read

  22. It ended… Idk if I’m happy with the ending but it feels it was the best ending that this novel can had . Although I would like to propose the destruction of universe but nevermind.

    A new beginning could have being good ending for the human society. Humans are such complicated species.. we hate it when someone doesn’t follow the so called rule or the typical stereotypical thinking. When someone is unique or little different from them people start to isolate them, hate them even want to destroy them such is this world… SighThankyou for translating the novel!!!

  28. Yo, I got mixed feeling about this novel. It’s both awesome and terrible. But I feel like gaining an invicible armor. Like right now if I go ahead and read another ‘horror’ novel in this website, they all just become mediocore somehow. Especially when I recall the horror in the earliest chapter and what triggering Ethan’s mutation (the thingie that open those brains). Overall it is a fantastic novel and I love it. But now my head hurts lol 😅

  30. Idk how to feel about this opened ending…. It’s definitely bittersweet. Personally, I think that based on how everything is fucked up and dark.. them dreaming of living together PEACEFULLY until old age.. is like a wilted flower that had been preserved. So sad yet beautiful. This may not be considered as a happy ending for everyone, but for me, it is. I’m just satisfied because we all know they wouldn’t get that kind of life in reality. So a white lie is better than the painful truth. Moreover it is kind of hinted that they subconsciously KNOWS, but rather afraid to face it. I’m just really angry because no one, not even the ml is genuinely real to him… Their love is definitely not pure.. it is still better than either one leaving the another alone. (As I always think if both the main character dies.. then it is a happy ending.)

    Ps. I know this mindset is AHem.. dark.. but I see it as unconditional and self sacrificing love till after life. Kind of love that I know wouldn’t exist anymore since our generation is all so WOKEN.. or think it as I have a Stockholm syndrome – but I’d rather I’ll pick the former. Haha

  31. Well damn. I blew through this novel in about a week. I seriously latched onto the eldrich horror omegaverse vibes. Like I think there is no other novel like this one (and if there is please point me to the next one immediately!). I loved the terrifying existential missions, Ethans horrific transformation and the slow burn with the ML. But I do feel like the ending kinda missed the mark its, by no means a bad ending but I feel nothing really got solved at the end of everything? And the story kinda lost focus after ML ‘died’. Idk maybe I’m just salty that Ethan didn’t get to embrace the full power of disorder with his soul still intact and wipe all those evil people from existence and make the universe a better place? But I dont know i feel like the author wanted to make us all cry so it had to be a sad ending? At least Ethan and Tanisiel are having a happy dream and who knows there fingers twitch at the end so maybe they’ll wake up one day?

    Anyways thank you wonderful editors and translator for giving us this amazing work!
