Imperial Omegaverse FAQ

Here I have compiled some frequently asked questions that readers have asked, and ones that I think may be of interest to you all.

1) How does your Imperial Omegaverse structure Alphas, Betas, and Omegas?

This is a somewhat complex question. A, B, and O are considered secondary genders or a designation. Alphas and Betas constitute the majority of the population. In the main Empire that is our setting, omegas are not super-duper rare, but are the least of the population. In some areas of this world I created, they are very rare and thus coveted.

Alphas do make up the majority of leadership positions, with Betas also able to take high ranks as well. Omegas rarely obtain any position higher than maybe a manager of some sort, if they are allowed to have careers outside of the home. Servants can be any designation, as can slaves (both captive or indentured).

Some cultures frown upon same designation relationships, but in general, this Empire does not.

The Emperor can only be a Male Alpha.

2) Are your A, B, and O’s born or present later in life?

Babies are born with their designations/second genders present, though it is slightly harder to tell an Alpha or Beta baby apart right away physically but scent wise you can. Omegas – male or female – are the most readily identifiable, as they are born with a mark on their belly that denotes them as such.

3) Do your Omegas have heats? Do Alphas rut?

Omegas have their heats at around 14-15 years old, with a +/- 5 years which are dependent on a lot of factors such as familial history, medical conditions, etc. Some Omegas are very late to have a heat. Heats can range in degrees of severity/potency. Some, though rare, can experience multiple heats within a lunar month. Both male or female Alphas can impregnate Omegas, but only male Betas can. Yes, female Alphas have penises.

Alpha ruts in my world are typically markers of a shift in puberty, and are not a frequent occurrence. At around 15-17, a typical male or female Alpha will experience a rut. Effects of a rut include increased sex drive, increased semenal output, irritability, excessive energy, “jitters,” and often are followed with a drop that can sometimes be depressive. Ruts can range in severity as well, some experiencing a “black-out”. In some cases, an adult Alpha may experience a rut when under extreme duress/stress, sort of as an adrenaline response.

4) What options for birth control/heat suppressants are there?

There is not much beyond folk medicine or herbal prescriptions. Many cases, omegas go into seclusion in the home. In Li Julong’s culture, using suppressants isn’t a typical thing, but there are often private huts made for omegas that are experiencing a heat and they are taken care of communally. In other cultures, it is perfectly acceptable for omegas to take “surrogates,” which are males (or Alpha females) that will have sex with them to appease the heat drive, but they take birth control.

These methods tend to be very effective. It may take a while to find a suitable herbal prescription, but Omegas often carry their herbal prescriptions in a satchel, in case a heat suddenly arises at an inconvenient time.

5) How are omegas treated?

In Li Changyu’s world and culture, omegas are ranked lowest and are often treated in the same typical way that women in Historical China were. They are situated in relation to the other men in their life, in particular their Husbands. Beta and Alpha women have a lot more agency than what women historically had and more movement by class and jobs, but they too are considered in relation to the men in their lives. In other cultures in this world, omegas have a more active role and can carve out spaces for themselves easily. Some parts of the world, omegas are indeed treated horribly.

Once an Omega has experienced a heat, it is highly improper for them to be unchaperoned with Beta or Alpha men or women that are unfamiliar to them/within immediate family. They are typically feminine, and are taught the same things as women. Again, there are families that are very conservative and thus they are not taught to read or write.

6) Why feminine terms for male omegas? But you still call Li Changyu a “son” – why?

In this world, omega males are titled in relation to their husband not their father’s. This is a little different from the typical take. In short, a male omega is still a masculine term to their Father’s and Family, but they are not a husband to their husbands. So Li Changyu is considered Son and Son-in-law to Family, but Wife and Empress to Husband and society. The term Husband denotes who is the head of the household. In some more conservative households, they would be referred to exclusively in feminine terms. However, there are other parts of the world that do not do this convention.

7) How many chapters is MOTP? Will there be other books?

I am unsure how many chapters MOTP will officially be. I have the story planned out, and I have post-ending extras planned. There will absolutely be other books, and I hope that if there is enough interest in MOTP, that my other ones will be published here
