Want to Try it Out?Ch13 - Loving Parents

A few days passed when Chang Min decided to take a long break from mature writing. At the moment, he has been writing a bunch of fluff.

Luckily, he had terrific readers that did not mind his mood change at the moment.

Chang Min sat outside in his backyard, wanting some fresh air as he typed his next chapter. He glanced at his phone a few times, trying to act like he was not waiting for a text from Ye Xun.

Ye Xun became busy due to work, so they have barely seen each other. It is not the first time it has happened, but Chang Min would miss Ye Xun when it does. He would try to push away the feeling by writing chapters until his mind was full of words.

As he took his umpteenth glance, the door to the backyard opened as an older woman, with similar looks to Chang Min, walked through.

She had on a long, flowy, off-the-shoulder black dress with gold floral designs. Her eyes were light brown as her brown, shoulder-length hair was in a low ponytail; she had curtain bangs loose from the ponytail.

The woman gave a broad smile, showing the wrinkle lines around it, “Chang Min, my beautiful boy, I am surprised to see you outside.”

Chang Min set his laptop on the table near him, jumping up as he wrapped his arms around his mom, pulling her in. “Mom! You are here!”

Chang Ying tightly held her son, breathing in his scent as she missed him. She and her husband rarely got to see their son nowadays because they have been busy with work.

Maybe it is time to retire.

“Yep. Remember, I told you we were going to be free. Do you still want to go to the carnival?” Chang Ying spoke.

Chang Min pulled away, nodding his head before shyly looking down, “Yeah, if that is what you and dad want to do.” Then he looked up, searching around his mother, “Where is dad?”

“He will meet us there. You know your father tends to get caught in things.” Chang Ying touched the material on Chang Min’s pajama shirt before shaking her head.

“Honey, how many times must I tell you to stop wearing thin clothes outside when it is windy?”

Chang Min looked at the sky, acting like he was counting before looking at his mother with a goofy smile, “More times than I can count.”

Chang Ying laughed, shaking her head at her son. She could never stay mad at him; Chang Min is too cute for that.

Chang Ying shook her head, smiling at her son, “It is nothing, honey. Now, go get dressed so that we can go.”

Chang Min nodded, closing his laptop as he grabbed it with his phone. He walked back into the house, making his way to his room to change.

Chang Ying looked at her son, calming all the anger she had within her. She is willing to let the past go because her son smiling again meant the world to her.

They arrived at the carnival, walking to the entrance as Chang Min held his mother’s hand. Even though people would think it is weird for a grown man to hold his mother’s hand, it helped him deal with the people.

Plus, his mother did not mind at all.  dTtoCN

When they reached the entrance, an older man was waving them over. The man had copper hair that started to grey over. His eyes were greenish-brown, while his looks were sharper than Chang Min’s looks.

Chang Min waved back, letting go of his mother as he jogged towards the man, hugging him. “Dad!”  gQH5zP

Chang Liang slightly stumbled as he wrapped his arms around his son. “Whoa there, son, I am too old to fall on the ground. I could break something.”

Moving back, Chang Min rubbed the back of his neck, looking sheepish, “Ah, sorry, dad, I got a little excited.”  9J08Rv

Chang Liang patted his son’s shoulder, smiling at him, “It is fine.” Then, he looked at them both as his wife moved forward, taking Chang Min’s hand back in hers.

“I already paid and got us VIP badges. Are you fine with going on the rides, son?” Chang Liang asked.  mrFcy6

Chang Min tilted his head, looking so adorable that his mother wanted to pinch his cheeks. “Uh, I was not when I came with Ye Xun. But I believe it would be okay if we do four, maybe five, rides. Then, we can play a lot of games. Mom can beat you like always.”

Chang Ying laughed as Chang Liang shook his finger in front of his son, “Hey, that is not true.”  adbUOS

“Oh, love, it is okay. You win some, and you lose some.” Chang Ying spoke, taking two badges from her husband’s hand. She put hers on before putting Chang Min’s badge over his head.

Chang Liang did the same as he shook his head, “Watch, I will beat you this time.”  qi0wXD

Chang Min laughed at his parents. He missed them so much and was happy to be out with them. Maybe he should take them to the park that Ye Xun took him to.

They walked into the carnival, going on rides that did not seem bad or too much for Chang Min.  cdar8d

Chang Min would start to freak a bit on the rides, but his parents would hold his hands, making it easier for him. Finally, after the third ride, he got the hang of things.

But he did not tell his parents that because he loves holding their hands. It has been a long time since he has done that.  qn5mdQ

Chang Min could not help but miss the days when his parents would hold him, making him feel like nothing could hurt him.

And that changed when his aunt and uncle entered the picture, making it hard for Chang Min to trust his parents’ hold ever again because he lost the safe feeling.  dpe1Oa

But, now, the feeling hit him again. He became reluctant to let go of their hands.

After they finished their sixth ride, which was a surprise to Chang Min that he went over the number he said, they went to eat before playing the games.  JxE1WL

They got some hot dogs and a drink as they walked towards an empty table and sat down.

“So, how is life going for you, honey?” Chang Ying asked her son.  ufORoG

Chang Min swallowed down his bite before answering. “Fine. I have been writing a lot, and I love it. Plus, Ye Xun has been taking me to new places. So even though I still don’t like going out, it is fun with him.”

“Oh, what other places have you been to?” Chang Liang asked.  s2bZw5

“He took me to a cat café, which is amazing. And I went to a beautiful park that had a playground. The playground took me back to when we used to go.”

Both his parent’s faces softened when they heard his words. Chang Ying reached over, running her hand down Chang Min’s hair. “Honey, would you like to go to a playground after this?”  OgkQoe

Chang Liang hummed at that. Even though he was growing tired, he is an older man at a carnival after all. Chang Liang would not mind taking his son to the playground after this.

His son means everything to him, and he would love to live out those old memories from before.  o4yuhN

Chang Liang did not care how old they were; he wanted to override all of his son’s bad memories with good ones.

Chang Min shyly smiled, “That would be nice. So you don’t think it would be weird for us to play on the playground?”  dznXo4

Chang Ying shook her head, “No.”

“Okay.”  w4Mk65

They finished eating, making their way to the games. Chang Min won more prizes as his mother proved better at the games than his father.

And Chang Min thought it was hilarious when his father started to turn into a sore loser.  Q3wd6m

Then, they left the carnival, making their way to the closest playground as the sky started changing colors, showing that night is coming.

The family did not mind when they reached the playground and started playing on it.  YEaqTP

Chang Min enjoyed his mother pushing him on the swing. Then, he and his father had a competition on the monkey bars. Finally, they went down the different slides, trying to see which is better (Chang Min liked them all).

There was a net that people could climb on at the playground, which the family started role-playing with, filling the area with laughter.  TRf4Ay

Chang Min’s smile could not leave his face as he felt warm from it all. He loves his parents so much that he felt so lucky to have them.

There was no place he would rather be (besides with Ye Xun) than with his loving parents.

So, here is the difference (which I don’t know if people would like), if you want a bonus/extra chapter, feel the goal bar on my ko-fi and I will post another chapter. It is okay if y’all don’t want to do it, I seen others do it and wanted to try it out. We will see how it goes.

Thank you for your support and I hope you’re enjoying the story so far!
