Here is an artist’s rendition of the gate to the Underworld with the Naihe Bridge just beyond it…

WangChuan River (忘川河) is the waterway the Naihe Bridge spans. Wang means forget, so it’s the ‘River of Forgetting’.

  3. The imagery in this story is really too good, wow. I was wondering how Gong Wei was going to get out of controlling a sword he shouldn’t have been able to, but of course he’s used to illusions and mind manipulation and lying (Xu Shuangtze, in particular, seems to have Had It with the lying). I have to wonder if this “little Mei demon” is actually just Gong Wei, though? From the moment he “died” he was reborn in part, and reincarnation for everyone is now happening without souls ever going to the underworld at all…with the souls being split or reshuffled instead of going through normal processes. Definitely smacks of a mastermind behind the scenes, anyway
