Translator's Note

He’s rationalising his outward appearance here. He knows he isn’t really just a projection, but his appearance as himself is a projection. Confused? Excellent! (Just kidding).

Translator's Note

Who is currently giving a gold medal performance as ‘just part of the scenery’.

Translator's Note

Sahl: totally choked on my tea when I edited this bit!

Translator's Note

Sahl: I think this is because they are definitely not used to a Xu Shuangtze who is ‘speaking human’ (i.e. lovey dovey).

Translator's Note

Sahl: They’re definitely horrified.

  1. I was so sure it would be GW. I feel like it should be.

Thanks for the great translation ♥️

  2. So we are definitely, absolutely supposed to connect the wife with Gong Wei, one does not accidentally describe a specific image of glowing skin against bright red so thoroughly twice in succession haha. I’m really wondering how this “death” was supposed to happen? It would almost be funny if Gong Wei acted as the others think matches reality, with killing the wife before Xu Shuangtze can see that she’s fake, and that breaks the illusion because it isn’t what actually occurred. Increasingly I can’t help but wonder if Gong Wei just ended the illusion suddenly and that seemed like a “death” to Xu Shuangtze, or if some other interruption occurred and Gong Wei’s being present instead of the “bride” made it seem like he’d killed her… In either case we know this “tragedy” ends with an illusion breaking, so it was never a great option as a way to trap Xu Shuangtze. Unless the intent was to dream-within-a-dream it and follow Xu Shuangtze to attack Gong Wei after the illusion with his “bride” ends, anyway

    Thank you for translating! <3

  3. i had suspected ‘she’ didn’t have a face, but ah. if this is xu shuangtze’s illusion — wouldn’t there also be an illusionary gong wei, too (alongside this actual gong wei)?
