The Black Saint is My StalkerCh94 - Amid the havoc

Edited by dreamandwonder

The horde of mid-tiers slowed inched forward, one step at a time. Their bulbous heads were a hideous sight, jagged teeth of both human-like and horse-like protrusions. j8qJZX

Han Li first felt alarmed, then the rush of adrenaline. He readied himself and awaited command, eager to lead the fore and carve up a few monsters.

“How many are there?” Leonie’s sharp voice came in through the earpiece.

“I count sixteen. Can already tell this is going to be a faff.”

“Oh, how troublesome! We’re in position…Ready when you are. Vanguard lead, paladin follow. Is that alright?” aYGcVO

“Course. I’m here to do my job, after all,” Han Li licked his lips, tossing Weian up. As the vanguard, it was his task to pave the way and win their foes’ attention.

“Don’t really have a choice but follow, now do I?” Oscar sneered as he readied his bladed staff.

Weian flew, whizzing forth as though it had a mind of its own. The closest demon screeched and reared up with its large hooves, its sharp claws swiping at the blade before it could embed itself into its skinless body.

But just as Weian had been knocked aside, it twisted around in the air and attacked the demon once more. The others roused in accordance, striking at the two hunters that stood in opposition.

Oscar snapped his weapon, angling it while pulling the trigger. The sound of shotgun shells rang through the air, knocking two of the advancing foes back. Han Li followed suit by unleashing a series of talismans that formed a pentagram, trapping and stunning three more demons that tried to close in.

That still left more than half more to contend with.

Han Li was fearless, calling his flying sword to his palm. Shattered glass sounded, telling him that his teammates were making an entry. He rushed forward and—

It was the billowing blond that caught his attention, tinted a slight rouge. Sounds drowned out and Han Li felt his heart stutter, his mind wrecked with chaos and confusion. Explosions went off, and shouts roared in his earpiece. But amid the havoc, he saw her alluring figure, draped in emerald fabrics. Her smile was subtle, just barely reaching the curve of her eyes. She was but a single angelic being that did not belong in the current brewery of disarray. A puzzle piece that did not fit. LoZW1c

His earpiece buzzed sharply, “Bloody useless cunt! Can’t even hold the position—“

“Stop complaining, Trevor! And please help us to regain control!” 1LcHN4

“Can’t see me bloody doing all the work?” Trevor raged with visceral anger, “Tell that to the damned witch! He’s supposed to be the one helping with area control!”

“We’re all supposed to help,” Leonie continued to scold despite the situation.

“You wankers just taking a piss!?” Oscar shot. “Shut the fuck up and kill these sons of bitches before they kill us, yeah?”

Han Li blinked as he held his head, squinting past the haze of debris. Trevor’s large form could be glimmered, his pose hunched and ready. eDizEb

His larger upper body lent perfectly to a boxer stance, knuckles covered with spikes made of silver. When a demon closed it, he unleashed a flurry of punches, knocking it back. But that alone was not enough, even with the silver biting into the monster’s body with a sizzling burn.

Trevor hopped backward, leading the demons into a pentagram etched in the ground. The lines of chalk lit up with holy energy, momentarily trapping them in place.

A devastating bolt unleashed from higher ground. The horse-like demon reared and screeched, stumbling as the bolt dung into the horse’s fleshy neck. With just two beeps, a loud explosion sounded. Trevor did not hesitate to unload a bottle of holy water on the demon, just as an extra measure.

There was no time to celebrate momentary victory because there were more demons ready to engage and try for the hunter’s lives. But with all the hunters working and fighting back to back, the demons were held at bay, the battle slowly but surely swinging into their favor so long as their concentration maintained. ynHRB6

That was…except for Han Li. No one was there to help him to his feet or ask about his status. Not that he particularly cared or griped about the matter either— But the disorientation was hard to shake off, and seeing that his team seemed to have things generally under control, Han Li took the moment to step back and sweep the church with his eyes once more.

“I swear I saw someone inside, a woman or something. Did anyone else see her?” Han Li shouted.

He was ruefully ignored. Trevor continued with his barking complaints, “What the fuck was the set up for if Pretty Boy spell or whatever isn’t even going a damn. Was all that fuss just a bloody show?”

“Uh…It’s not… Never mind…” Valtteri’s voice came with an exasperated sigh over the radio, as though he couldn’t decide if he wanted to defend himself or not. 4EdJZH

“Trevor please,” Leonie begged as she heaved her heavy weapon, swinging it around to push the mid-tier desire demons back. “What did I say about trying to get along with others?”

Han Li could only scowl. They really weren’t listening to a thing he was saying and something told him that raising his voice wasn’t going to do him any favors. Privately, he uttered a small “fuck it” to himself. If they weren’t going to have his back, he wasn’t going to return the favor, at least not when it didn’t seem to be necessary in the first place. Sure, he probably could have helped speed up the process, but the four-man team was doing just fine.

Without further ado, Han Li circled around the main point of conflict. In the very center of the nave, his teammates stood in a circular formation; fending off whatever monster that tried to advance. But Han Li turned his gaze to the altar.

One of the horse demons leaped at him, rearing up with sharp hooves bearing down at him. But Han Li was undaunted by the long kicking legs. He only needed to throw his sword right at the demon’s belly, the blade lodging itself deep into its skinless stomach. The demon flailed, losing balance as it charged at him. Han Li jumped over its stumbling form as he called Weian to him, driving the blade right through the demon in order for it to return to his hand. t3wSH2

It wasn’t enough to kill a writhing mid-tier desire demon, that much, Han Li knew. But he was also disinterested, hopping over the demon and making a break toward the altar instead.

Five more talismans were pulled from his jacket and privately he reminded himself that he needed to restock at some point. They flew toward the altar and a thunderous boom sounded alongside the roar of battle behind him.

Only then, did Leonie seem to notice his actions. Almost panicked, she questioned over the radio, “Han Li! What are you doing!?”

But just as she uttered such words, the demons began to move strangely, backing up as though to give way. Oscar ruthlessly chased down one such retreating demon, but none of the remaining reacted. They lined up silently along the walls of the church, utterly mute and still like machines with their power turned off. XfJTVv

The hunters watched, their expressions apprehensive and a bit confused.

Flicks of lightning buzzed around the debris left by the destroyed altar. Slowly, the dust settled, revealing a single figure. She smiled, hands clasped in front of her belly like a dainty maiden. There were lilies and red mistletoes woven in her hair. The smile on her face was eerie and unconcerned.

When she spoke, it was like music, elegant and frighteningly charming, “I had wondered how long it would take for you to deal with the children and notice little old me.”

Han Li felt his stomach drop, suddenly realizing when and where he had seen her face before. DdGq7n

Above Graham’s bed was that large classical painting of some ancient princess or queen. And here she was, standing before Han Li with madness dancing in her eyes and crimson mistletoes in her hair.

“Who are you?” Leonie asked with demand in her voice, stepping forward just as a captain should. “Please identify yourself, you are within a restricted area at the moment.”

Chrysanthemum Garden.

“Can’t you fucking tell!?” Trevor spat, “It’s as obvious as a pair of bollocks, I say.”

“So that’s the Crimson Witch?” Oscar hummed, raising his weapon toward her, “Since the cunt is here, let’s just deal with her now.” CUcntb

“Crimson Witch?” the woman tilted her head, a girlish twinkle alive in her eyes. “Is that a name you wish to bestow me? It is not bad but I already have a name proper, you know? And it is Aoibhinn, the Princess of War.”

*sees possible boss character*

Leonie: “Hello! What’s your name? My name is Leonie Davis, thirty-one years old, my hobbies are scrapbooking and horseback riding. I have two brothers- oh, uh Hugo died, didn’t he? Ah, well, you see how it is… So how about you?”

Oscar: 6cUuk9

Valtteri:

Han Li:

Trevor: STFU.

  1. gawd, this team is so dysfunctional?? Han Li’s optimal team….hm probably just him and Gramps 🤔🤔🤔🤔

also… GRAMPS WHERE ARE YOU??? Your ex-(?)-wife might (?) kill your new boy (?)!!

  2. Urgh, this team is so… I don’t even have a word. Also, the ex-wife is heeeere! I’m getting scared of the moment when she’ll see Grams later 🙃

    Thanks for the chapter 🍆🍆

  3. smacks Leonie girl what are you doing ;-;

Excited to see the mess become messier when Aoibhinn and Grams meet

Thank you for the chapter!!! ❤️❤️

    • she is….a useless thing u_u ALAS!!! not everyone can be good leaders right!?
m-messy…! A-ah i suppose that’s one way to put it!?!!!

  4. They might be strong as individuals but their teamwork seriously sucks, the leader is useless, and Han Li has to uncover all the clues and the cause. BUT Aoibhinn is just one Boss, they still haven’t found out the BIG BOSS, Andraste. Yup, they’ll die.

GRAHAM!!! Where is this saint when Han Li needs him? Get out of your hidding place and save your kitten. But… what if he refuses to fight his wife?

Now that I think about it, is Han Li wearing this curious piece of jewellery, the one with embedded communications spell, hmmm?

    Thank you for the chapter!!!

    • y u p, I mean…maybe she just got the position because of nepotism, huh? xD Don’t you hate it when people in leadership positions end up being so useless?

HMM that’s a good question…I wonder what he’s up to.

  5. I hadn’t missed Graham at all.. not even now because I feel he is gonna be useless when he arrives and wont wanna hurt the crimson witch..

    but, I’ve finally caught up!

    thanks for the chapter <3
