The Black Saint is My StalkerCh65 - I will be at your side

There was Duan Jiayu, who had come so valiantly on his mystical white tiger, and Emilia Rose who donned all the latest DASR tech beneath her white lab coat.

Then there was the Saint of Shields himself with a golden spear in hand. 2rJ5c0

Han Li clicked his tongue in annoyance, “And now they come.” His demonic nature flared, red hot, and angry. The new disturbance served only to tilt his carefully cultivated mental balance.

Graham stood so close that their shoulders touched. Perhaps he could feel the well of impatience that Han Li was struggling to hold back. Because a soothing hand reached up to caress his shoulder. The Saint of Eternity’s voice was kept low, “Do not mind them. Fall back if they are annoying.”

“They are annoying,” Han Li echoed with a sneer, “but I’m not falling back.”

A thus he threw Weian at his foe, dashing in after it. C PX5S

“Wow! So that’s Han Ruyan’s half-breed son, huh?” Emilia chirped, bringing out her tablet as her thick false lashes battered with vigor. She leaned backward, a metal leg extending from her belt to bear her weight, it was as though she wasn’t about to engage with the fight at all, eagerly typing away on her tablet.

“Focus,” the Eastern man next to her chided as he rode forth on his white tiger.

Han Li exchanged blows with the prince, only for his attention to be snatched by the blurry white shape barreling forth from his side. It made him flinch, not quite catching the black axe coming for his neck.

But Graham, as always, had pinpoint timing, and was able to intercept. Clarent’s edge caught the descending axe as he pulled the half-demon away by the shoulder.

This gave the tiger-riding man to pull out his own blade, a dao with a vermilion handle that shimmered a bright divine light. It caught the prince in the shoulder before she could stave off his assault with a powerful blast of black flames.

The black flames did not get far.

Miguel knocked the hilt of his spear against the ground, sending a shock wave of holy energy that dispersed said flames in an instant.

The prince’s abilities were not the only thing that was affected however— V3gd6i

Han Li gritted his teeth, feeling a powerful wave of nausea.  He staggered on his feet, holding his head as sounds rang in his ears. He could hear blasts go off, barely registering the homing rockets that seemed to have launched themselves from beneath the DASR researcher’s lab coat.

“…I will be at your side,” Graham said before turning his gaze back at the battle that was unfolding in front of them. “So long as you remain by mine.” HqefTt

“Hahaha!” Han Li laughed with a wide grin, fangs out on full display, “that’s a given.”

In front of them, chaos unfolded. Miguel and his group were hardly outperforming Graham and Han Li.

The Sanlongyan exorcist might have gotten the Prince in the shoulder, but he was easily caught by her pale hand and thrown aside like a mere rag doll. When the white tiger lunged at her with its enormous maw, the Prince only laughed, catching the beast’s snout with her two bare hands, and held it open just like that.

“Show me more!” she howled. The two stood in a standstill, demon and beast. Uq1WpM

Just as Duan Jiayu was about to rush in to help his mystical beast, he heard the telltale blasts echoing from Dr. Rose’s direction. “Dr. Rose!” He yelled in frustration, but it was already too late.

Honing missiles tracked the prince, forcing Duan Jiayu to step back.

Saint Miguel was quick on his feet, able to rush in just fast enough to push in front of Duan Jiayu to erect a barrier before Emilia’s missiles hit.

The demon prince smirked, pivoting on her feet to use the white tiger as a literal meat shield against the missiles. qTmlXK

A series of booms erupted, the explosion thundering and loud. The white beast, injured, slumped over before disintegrating into specks of light that dissipated in the air.

Duan Jiayu gritted his teeth, holding back his anger. And as much as Saint Miguel was amused by the antics between a Sanlongyan official and a DASR researcher, he kind of wished they could focus on the fight. “You two,” he chided, “need I remind you of the situation at hand?”

Emilia only shrugged, leaning back against that metal leg that supported her against the rubble. She plucked several grenades from her belt and smiled, “I’m the one that’s trying to kill the demon, I don’t know what you two are doing.”

But just as she was grinning with cocky arrogance, the prince suddenly appeared in front of her, black axe brandished and Emilia’s heart jumped into her throat, eyes going comically wide. sTyrXG

The rocket in the leg’s automatic response system came a little late. Although it managed to blast her away from danger, it wasn’t fast enough to completely dodge the vicious swipe that came down at her. The edge of the blade caught her thigh in her frantic escape. Emilia squealed as she tumbled on her landing.

Duan Jiayu stood in place stoically, watching the events unfold without lifting a finger.

These brats! Miguel’s smile twitched. Even though he was completely exhausted from maintaining his Miracle for the past several hours, it was up to him to intercede.

But Emilia, in her panic, had thrown several smoke bombs; a heavy mist enveloped the scene. Sugyxv

As if it was enough to mask one’s location from a higher demon! The prince’s third eye could see through the smoke with ease, picking out the bright outlines of life that littered about the battlefield, just awaiting slaughter.

But before the black axe could find its target, Andraste was taken by surprise when another presence approached her so quickly that it almost startled her!

Weian’s point was aimed at her ribs. Andraste caught the blade with her forearm instead, the blade sank into her limb. Her eyes were wide with glimmers of intrigue as they fell upon Han Li. It was that he was fast in his approach, but rather, she hadn’t noticed him at all until it was almost too late.

“Interesting!” Andraste hollered, glee shining in all three of her eyes. “Show me more of your power, little one.” 2c3YO

Han Li gritted his teeth, fighting against the prince’s obscene strength. Despite Weian being embedded in her arm, she did not react to pain in the slightest, using her arm as though a shield.

When he withdrew his blade, Andraste did not waste any time sending a surge of blackened fire his way, making Han Li step backward.

The prince’s attention snapped to her side, where a golden spear was thrust right at her third eye. She tilted her neck back to above the fatal blow, but at the same time, another divine weapon was upon her, Clarent coming to cleave her from above. The prince caught its descent with her axe. Her grin was stretching from ear to ear.

The two saints dueled her, their weapons falling in sync. When Miguel would thrust his spear, Graham would slash with his sword, able to keep the prince on her feet. MtRoAI

Miguel smirked even as he panted for air, beads of sweat drenched his visage, “We work surprisingly well together, don’t you think, Saint Graham?”

“…” Graham did not entertain the mid-battle chit chat and focused on the fight, his expression calm and stoic despite the chaos that unfolded.

Smoke was still heavy around them while small, eye-like drones hovered in the air, collecting data and information.

Emilia shuffled away from the battle rather than towards it, her eyes pinned on her tablet as information flitted across the screen. 17gUSm

“What are you doing?” Duan Jiayu’s sharp voice resounded as he approached her.

She huffed, eyes not leaving the screen, “I could say the same to you, I don’t see you jumping in or making yourself useful.”

As if she was unaware of the perception talisman that he held behind his back, that served the very same purpose as her drones.

Meanwhile, Han Li was catching his breath, the thicket of smoke still around him. He could hear the clashing of blades just up ahead, miasma and holy energy exchanged. His thoughts were strange, hovering between a limbo where he felt neither human nor demon and both at the same time. DTbXGd

He wanted to protect everyone, he wanted to serve his country.

He wanted to tear his sister to shreds, to punish her for daring to step foot in his territory.

While his thoughts would war, the two halves of him seemed to agree on one particular thing.

He trusted that Graham would be at his side. rqtUT5

“Haha…” Han Li laughed to himself and sighed. He rolled his shoulders and rubbed the back of his neck. Then he rang his tongue over his fangs, allowing the itch to spread through his veins, and embraced the miasma that simmered around in the air, breathing it in purposely.

A slit parted his forehead, a black third eye opened and Han Li grinned, feeling the rush of power that shook his very core. It was as though he could see through the earth itself and its weathered soul.

Author: Got like a month or so before I can finally go on vacation………. @.@; I’m still behind on writing because last week had been so hectic T w T;; I’m searching for some brain cell donations! Also just out curiosity, do any of you guys read any other Original BL (BL originally written in English!) titles? A few friends and I are trying to work out the stigma against OG BL and we need to collect more data…!! @.@

  1. Wow, the reinforcements are not very useful. 🤨 They are just watching instead of helping.

    Han Li evolved, the third eye, it can be useful. I’m looking forward to some serious ass kicking. And I love how both sides of him agreed on that one thing. Thank you for the chapter!!!

    P.S. Replying to the author, I do read other BL written in English but it depends solely on the content. In general I’m not interested in modern stuff unless there is a bit of fantasy or supernatural element in it. The only exception are modern stories with action in them (trillers, suspence, or mystery stories). Your everyday slice of life stories won’t do for me. But that’s just me.

    • Did they really want to be helpful in the first place ahahaha xD well Miguel is at least trying despite his state.

      Yes! The third eye is uhhh special I guess LMFAO.

      I see! So are you indiscriminate towards whether is something is OG or TL? Or do you prefer one is certain instances to the other? I’m really trying to get the reader perspective on the state of OG BL weepsss

      • Tbh, I don’t really care if the BL I read are OG or TL, because I’ve seen both good and bad examples of both types. I have my tags/genres I stick to but even within them I don’t read everything I see. I’m a bit of a picky book worm, so in my case, it depends solely on preferences: I like it, I’ll read it, I don’t like it, I won’t. For the BL I intend to read, I usually wait until there are at least a few chapters (or more than a dozen, depending on the length of the novel) to read it and decide whether I want to read it along with it being written/translated, wait until it’s finished and read it (infrequent updates, rather wait than get frustrated), or don’t read it at all (bad/uninteresting plot, lame characters or writing style not being my cup of tea).

        I hope it helped.

        • Thank you for letting me know!! Is Chysanthemum Garden the only place you read OG BL off of? If not what other place do you generally check out @ w @

          • Chrysanthemum Garden is my main reading site. One other that I frequent is the Exiled Rebels site (mainly TL BL novels there but the EXR leader has a few novels of her own, not updated anymore, though). Other sites are very random, I find them while tracking down the novels that moved from CG. 🙃

          • Sure, I’m open to trying out new reading sources. If you can give me a link, I’ll go check it out, when time allows. 😉

  2. Ohh are we discovering the use of the third eye??

    Regarding the OG bl novels, have you tried contacting the other authors on cg?

    Thank you for the chapter!!! ❤️❤️

    • UwU vague arm gestures

      Mhmm! I’m friends with some of them~ but we’re interested in the readers’ perspective regarding the matter of OG BL

  3. I think it’s mainly because many og novels are poorly written/edited. Some read more like a bad fanfic, and some are just riddled with errors, inconsistencies or a lack of vocabulary

    • Where are you finding these badly written OGs? Hmmm I guess there isn’t much established trust in OG titles huh? I wonder how we could fix that ; w ;

      • Usually on larger platforms like webnovel. they would be in the daily recommend and such (so I would read… Endure for the points…)

        It’s basically that there’s too much crap out there that the decent ones tend to get burried. There are ones that have a good premise, but are brought down by things like excessive spelling and grammar errors which just make them painful to read. Or just using the wrong words (there was one that had “never felt so impotent”, when it should have said incompetent)

        • Ahh yes Webnovel is a whole different kind of monster. Would you be inclined to check out a site that has a more curated selection of OG BL works? Weeps ; w ;

          • Indeed, a site like wn where every Tom, Dick, and Harry can publish without going through any sort of QC really makes it difficult to have faith in og work. I tend to stick to smaller sites for og stories simply because the writers appear to put more effort in, and take more care in order to attract more readers and keep them

  4. I’m not sure if my answer is relevant, as I am not from any English-speaking country and English is only 4th language for me. But still…

    I don’t mind original BL works, I always glad to read something new and fresh. But besides poorly written ones (the same as what the commenters above have described, about Webnovel and so on) I have some prejudices against those works that look as if they pretend to be Chinese or Japanese light-novels. The main reason is that most of them have low quality (poorly written, with a whole lot of grammar and spelling mistakes, and wrong use of words – that even me, a foreigner, wouldn’t make), And also their authors don’t use their own imagination, but try to incorporate all the overused clichés of the Asian LNs in the most unrealistic and d*mb way 😅 They also try to give characters and places ‘Chinese/Japanese’ names and make everyone demonstrate ‘asian behaviour’, while obviously knew next to nothing about all that.

    So I usually have more good hopes for OG novels that use more ‘caucasian’ settings as their authors at least knew which names are not sound stupid and unrealistic, and also they more often try to use their own imagination, invent more interesting plot twists.

    But I also have read some good ‘alternative antient China’ works written by European authors, and have abandoned a lot of terrible original novels with western settings, (as well as many akwardly composed and poorly written translated novels). So I try to remind myself to not be prejudiced when I choose what to read. 😅

    • I think you bring a very good and interesting point! Maybe it’s the lack of authenticity that puts you off? Where in particular do you find these books that feel like impersonations of TL? Or even books with absurd English quality (bad grammar and the like) Is it purely on Webnovel? Kind of wondering if it’s just Webnovel giving us a bad rep TT w TT;;

      • I don’t remember exactly where I found them. But most often it was like that: I find a new novel to read through Novelupdates, and if the link brings me to a platform like Webnovel, of FlyingLines, or to a more ‘private’ website like the Chrisantemum Garden, I always try other things there. But, I think, the majority of awful OG-novels I encountered through ‘you also may like’ section on Wattpad 😅

        About autencity – yeah, I feel like this may be a part of the reason why I don’t like when western authors try to mimic Chinese or Japanese novels, but most of the time what irks me and makes me drop the novel is that authors don’t do much research about names, language, customs, etc. of the country they mimic, and base their characters and world-building only on what they got from the Asian novels themselves, and also on the bunch of outdated western stereotypes about ‘the Asians’. So you can easily find ‘chinese’ characters with Russian names (oh, who cares, yes? 😁) Or they can have typical English names in Ancient China setting just because ‘it is much easier for me and for my readers this way’. And so on like that. 😓🙃

        • Wow… xD That’s… I don’t think I’ve ever heard of ‘chinese’ characters with Russian names. That sounds very odd! I didn’t even think this was a common occurrence and only heard horror stories of the like. If you’re having trust issues with OG BL…hm ; w ; my friends and I are planning to make a small platform where we curated OG BL titles we personally like and want people to read. Would you be interested in following something like that?

  5. I feel like the first team died for these fools to come and do nothing. >-<

    As for original stories, I read pretty much anything. I try to give them all a chance, but there are definitely some that read like something I would have written in middle school and I have to drop those. there’s also settings that I personally don’t enjoy and no matter how beautiful the work, I have to drop it for peace of mind

    • Aside from Miguel…do the others…even care…. < A <;;Duan Jiayu: “…Yes. I care.”

      Duan Jiayu: “…”

      Duan Jiayu: |  ̄ヘ ̄|

      Emilia: filing her nails “I’m sorry hun, what were you saying again?” (^_^)

      I really envy and appreciate how indiscriminate of a reader you are!! Are there any other places you read OG BL aside from CG?

      • no, there isn’t another site that I read original stories on. Mostly because I stumbled upon CG through someone’s random retweet a while back and discovered the original stories on here when there weren’t this many translations being posted.

      • oh I guess I lied… back when I was reading really bad translations of Thai BL novels, I stumbled upon some bad original novels on wattpad. ALSO I’ve read some really really bad self published ones on my kindle

  6. In regards to OG vs. TL, I think that it’s easier to trust some translated novels because they are vetted by the TL. A TL won’t waste their time if the story isn’t good. Many OG I’ve read are just bad and I feel you have to wade through it all to find the good ones. I’m really enjoying this one though, so thank you for your hard work. Im also reading The Dao of the Salted Fish, which I enjoy tremendously.

    • That’s true… ; w ; what do you think of a small site that aims to curate BL and quality control a bit. Would you follow it? And where do you find all these bad TLs? @.@;;

      Thank you so much for reading…!! ; w ; it means a lot to me <3

  7. Thanks for creating this wonderful story. I try to stockpile before coming back to read here again and I can’t wait for more. Btw what’s going on about the stigma on OG BL? I’m lost since I haven’t gotten any word about this, been busy for a while with schoolwork.

    • Oh…! Aside from OG authors like myself, I don’t think people generally talk about this topic! It’s just that TL BL seems to always have much more reach and appeal compared to OG works ; w ; You can see from other responses here that people have specific gripes about reading OG BL in general and a few authors and I and kind of trying to get to the bottom of this and seeing if we can come up with a solution or something TT w TT”

      • I’ve just started looking into OG BL so I can’t say much. I think you need a platform for OG BLs like making novelupdates pages? I knew all my BL novels from there. Perhaps an instagram profile where you can post recommended OG BLs could help? For me what brings me to a BL novel is the title, profile pic, and the synopsis. Improve those and it can garner better response perhaps. I’m really particular on choosing to read something based on how the synopsis got me interested and of course the comments. I’m pretty weird, I like to read comments first before I start reading them. I like to be sure that it’s something I would really enjoy. I don’t like reading a novel then stopping at the middle because it actually wasn’t my type. I didn’t read some OG BLs I have encountered here because the synopsis didn’t appeal to me. The story line isn’t what I am interested in. Just my own preferences. Anyways I give you guys the best of luck. Good novels will get the recognition they need in due time. 💪😊
        • it’s very difficult making something like novelupdates and requires resources that we, my small band of clowns author friends just don’t have ; w ;
          but we will be creating a carrd with a list of curated works and slowly work on social media I guess!? If you’re interested in following up, I’ll be updating readers once it’s ready for yall to check out weeps.
          Thank you for responding, it means a lot to us!

  8. In my opinion what OG novels lack are editors who check the grammar first, before posting it. I have just struggled through a novel, the story was great, but it was really painful at certain points to read it due to the grammatical mistakes or the incorrect use of terms which are so widely used now despite being wrong.

    This happens fewer times with TL novels, because it is a co-operation of more people, translators and editors who can weed out the mistakes.

    As for the genre, I don’t care where they have the setting, as long as the story and the grammar is good.

    • Lacking editors is a good point!

      T__T I wonder how OGs can avoid this pitfall… it’s very difficult. Most of us don’t have the means to get an editor ; w ;

        • Hm, yes some people seek out volunteers to help edit their work. The reason why I’m not a big fan of this is because editing is a lot of work. I don’t like the idea of riding on someone’s generosity and expecting free labor, especially when I make money off my work (albeit very minuscule amounts). I think that editors deserve to be recompensated for their work weeps and not many writers have the means of giving back. When it comes to TL work, the editors are equally as dedicated to the work that’s being translated as the translators are. But when it comes to OG work, that’s often not that case ; w ;
          • I almost applied once, but atm I cannot promise to have the time that it requires to have deadlines and such.

            I have no clue how you could solve the rewarding of the editor.

            What I see is that if one writes, they might not notice the mistakes they make even after reading them through.

  9. I do read other OG BL wriggles eyebrows

    Also your fight scenes are amazing!!! And ugh politics (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

  10. LMFAO 😂😂 where i work, “DASR” is short for something meaning “infectious waste destined to be burnt”. Quite good in this context 🤣🤣
