The Black Saint is My StalkerCh112 - Time traveled differently

Edited by dreamandwonder

Han Li’s heartbeat was in his ear, loud, staggering, slowing to a stop. J9doaD

He convulsed from the pain, his consciousness was torn away from reality in a single instant. Aoibhinn’s magic racked through his insides and stretched his soul from the inside out. He was being ripped apart. Agony drowned out reality around him and Han Li found himself in a sea of darkness. Voices clawed inside his skull, and a parasitic entity was inside his chest, eating its way through his flesh and bones.

A second stretched out into eternity.

Absently, in the blistering agony, Han Li realized that he was no longer in the same plane of existence as his body—

Was this hell? d0LGPa

Surely, hell should not be this terrible and agonizing for a demon like himself.

And yet, he was being ripped asunder, fire lodged in each and every one of his nerves, as though flesh was being peeled off from bone.

Time rewound.

Han Li felt something snap. Oh. Was that his soul?

Xex6rn

Everything went dark and he was drowning in an endless well of nothingness.

The root dislodged from Han Li’s chest, but the druid staff still fell from his hand. Han Li slumped forward.

Aoibhinn gasped, surprise alight in her eyes, confused when her husband so quickly parted from her. Rhongomyniad clattered to the ground and Graham surged forward. He caught Han Li before the boy could fall. His skin was ghastly, dewy drops of sweat glistened over a face contorted with pain. It was then that the weight of Graham’s began the sink in. Dread, lead-heavy, dragging through his stomach as foreboding realization blossomed.

Behind him, Aoibhinn clicked her tongue. She laughed, her voice mocking, and came over him like a bucket of icy water. “Oh my idiot husband, what do you think you are doing? Did you think that time was going to mend his ails?” g9Rk4x

Graham tried to ignore her. And yet her haunting voice echoed as deeply as his marrow. He pulled back his sleeve and pressed the back of his wrist to Han Li’s brow.

Frigid.

Graham didn’t know why he expected anything different. He knew these symptoms, recalling them from a memory eras old: Aoibhinn weak against him, her consciousness wrecked and terribly cold, face skewed with anguish. There weren’t many dimensions that are habitable for the human soul and it had been her folly to travel between them.

No, not this again.  zaldhJ

Graham wished to hear it no more. He held Han Li against his body, but no heat could be shared between them. His throat was dry and his eyes stung. His idiocy had not changed over the long eras. Was he still a boy? Immature, ignorant, and useless.

And no matter how much he wished to ignore it, that grating voice only continued, like poisoned honey. “Stupid husband. Be this a lesson learned and return to my side. You need not that toy, it would only entertain you for so long.” DVzB4U

The weight of reality sank in deep.

He was a fool to have hesitated; a fool to have believed in hope that had already long perished.

The Aoibhinn that he loved was dead.

She’d been dead for over a thousand years. And though he knew this for ages yet, he had refused to accept it like the imbecile that he was. 4EePZU

It was madness, a madness that was his own; his blind folly that persisted for years and years and years…

It was time to put an end to it.

Graham sucked in a breath, loosening his hold. He looked down on the boy whose breath staggered, skin like ice. His touch soft, Graham brushed stray black strands out of Han Li’s face. “I’m sorry,” he said, too late. Han Li did not respond, cold in his arms.

Gently, he set Han Li down, seated against a nearby wall. And slowly, he rose. CAfyQB

His divine powers were called forth; though this time it wouldn’t be saving anyone, he was already too late for that. Still, there was a job waiting to be done.

A light glow appeared above his head.

Aoibhinn noticed the shift. With a snap of her finger, the black veins reached deep into her core, scraping away at her lifeblood. An iridescent pool appeared below her feet, swallowing her whole.

Time shifted, fates realigned and Graham had Rhongomyniad in his hand once more. The charred black roots etched a path between himself and his foe. A mad look was upon Aoibhinn’s face, her arms spread open in welcome. F20mGT

“Very well Dimitris! Cut me down if you so dare! After I fed, raised, and loved you with my own two hands!”

He charged toward her, this time without the vestige of hesitation. This was just a ghost of the past, not his lover and wife. But just when his spearhead grazed her delicate neck, the Aoibhinn before him dissipated into a misty wisp. Graham did not allow his surprise to stilt him.

Something shifted in the air and then there was a strange, wet sound churned, like stirring lava. There was a spark in the Earthbound Layer, as though its magic also knew. Graham pivoted on his heel, his spear bright with divine power.

Black roots shot up, intercepting his blow. An iridescent pool appeared on the roof and Aoibhinn dropped down. Her eyes were black with corruption, lips pulled into a snarl. With a flick of her wrist, her roots expanded covering the floor, roof, walls. Everything was doused in black, save for the bluish glow of Graham’s spear and the crown of divinity that he wore, eyes gold. TA5 hc

Aoibhinn grinned, her visage manic with the subtle blue lights catching on her features. “You are not the only one with tricks, beloved!”

Time traveled differently in other dimensions. Aoibhinn had the means to counter Graham’s Time Record.

He huffed, gaze cold. Then so be it, he would battle without his divine gifts. Graham would not be daunted, not even against Aoibhinn. He dropped back down into a battle-ready stance.

The black roots came, tips pointed and eager to claim blood but Graham met them with equal might. Rhongomyniad cleaved through the heaps, Graham tiring none as he worked through heaps of black serpentine roots. Tb4vnm

Between Aoibhinn’s magic and Graham’s divine power, neither side yielded even an inch.

Aoibhinn gritted her teeth, anger bright. “You think I will go easy on you just because we are bound by oath. Dimitris, betrayer of my heart! I will not hesitate against you!”

Graham felt the bite of guilt, but it was not Aoibhinn that he betrayed. A black root shot toward him and this time he did not bother to dodge. It sliced through his left bicep. Graham lunged with his spear, uncaring of the bite of pain.

The Crimson Witch stumbled backward. Ru0skN

The point of Rhongomyniad chased her life. But Aoibhinn saw the bulbous mass she had attached to the glass wall.

With black veins reaching deep into her life force for power, she needed only a thought to activate the magic.

The black tumor pulsed, the dense churning magic inside roused and swirled—

While the battle raged, Han Li’s mind was far, far away; in a place where only darkness stretched. Agony knifed each and every one of his nerve endings and he dared not even breathe.

And yet, he lied there with apparent apathy, expression completely dull. And despite the pain contorting his perception of reality, he thought with vivid clarity, ‘Ah, it looks like my soul got shattered or some stupid ass shit.’ 7w BmD

Perhaps, he even found it funny.

Anyone with even a lick of supernatural knowledge knew that a human soul could not pass through the majority of dimensional barriers without suffering dire consequences.

Han Li lamented his current predicament. Even worse than the pain, was a maddening hollowness that he felt in his heart, rifts created from irreparable damage—

Ah. d9or70

But he could not just lie there and mope.

After all, he did promise Graham that he would be at his side and answer his call.

Graham needed him. Why else would he have called Han Li over to help? Han Li needed to help.

So he sucked in a breath no matter how painful it was to breathe. Han Li dug through his own soul, dug through his veins to unfurl dormant power. The process felt like swallowing shards of glass, or having his skin flailed off his flesh. It didn’t matter. He endured it and continued to dig, until his demonic self roused from slumber. 1Jre9l

And while the human half of his soul was frail and damaged, his demonic half suffered none, still potent and ready for action.

Though it did little to abate the pain, it would be enough for him to wake and rise.

Good enough.

Han Li’s eyes shot open, bright red. Aoibhinn’s magical bomb pulsed above him and a smirk stretched his lips. 0T74wB

He was just in time.
