   • I find LJ’s father more despicable. He would likely happily kill off LJ at the chance of his unborn lovechild being named heir, ignoring that only LJ knows the cultivation and secrets of the family. And since it’s an imperial edict he can’t just continue with the gut and walk away from his father’s properties plan.

     • He’s jealous of his own son because he got the attention & care of the grandfather, though he was morally bankrupt to begin with, which the old man must have sensed. Trashy narcissistic people like that absolutely hate morally upright people who are better than them & can ruin the shiny self image.
