    Can anybody here see how wrong it is to take & post the pictures of private people without their consent? Especially minors? Heck, even if they were the most famous celebrities in the world, it would have been an invasion of privacy!

    I would find it horrifying if some strangers took pictures of me & my loved ones or friends & shared them with the world when I’m fiercely trying to preserve my privacy.

    I categorically refused to go on facebook when it became a thing. I have no interest in people’s private lives unless those I know want to directly communicate with me & Nobody needs to know all the details of my little, ordinary life. I only caved & got myself an empty facebook account with a pseudonym that I use as an online id for the many websites I have to use when it became necessary. I have no social media or other accounts online using my real name unless it’s for legal matters, no photos I don’t share directly with individuals (on something like whatsapp or emails, & yes, there are risks with that, but I live with the compromise & only send appropriate stuff), not social media.

    So if someone purposefully took a random picture like that of me & shared it… it would be a terrible violation, no matter how innocuous the photo was. It would be stealing a part of my life to use it for their own benefit, no better than a burglar stealing my most precious possessions from my home, because my identity, my life are some of the most precious things I do have, as well as every moment I spend with the people I care about.

    This chapter doesn’t so cute now does it…?

    & while I’m at it, don’t ever blur the lines between reality & fiction people, those are real human lives you would be impacting with your fantasies.

    • I agree. It is definitely wrong to take and post pictures without people’s consent, whether it’s minors or celebrities or even your own family members. But unfortunately people do it all the time all over the world and also it’s not exactly illegal. I feel fiction can make people realize why and how it is wrong but most writers often miss the chance to be critical of problematic societal issues despite representing them in their work. Yu Tang here doesn’t mind it as he is an emperor used to having all people’s attention on him and it’s a forum about ‘his’ romance novel. Because of this we as readers also end up accepting it blindly unless we stop to think and put ourselves in their place like you did 😊👍
