  1. Ah yes I read some reviews about that on NU and they said it was mostly happened after they got to college/university? I guess you have to double your work with this novel so thank you for your hard work 😔❤

    Thanks for the chapter ❤

  2. Ah, yeah that. Well, about racism.

Before that, let’s see, this is a novel written by Chinese, live his/her whole life in China (or part of China), and being educated in China values. Just like an American author writes her novel with her hometown as the setting and using all english slang words and cultures for the elements.

If somehow, the author put his/her nationalism in the work, I’d understand.

Personally, I dont tolerate racist. But, I understand this is just a work of fiction.

It might reflect reality but still it is a fiction, and not to mention the genre and theme of this novel.

I hope people that read this novel can use their rational when such thing occur, and not complaining/blaming the translator or the author (since there’s nothing to be done).

Let’s just enjoy the novel as a work of fiction only.

    • I DEFINITELY AGREE. This is not an American or Western countries point of view…. …. people that don’t understand this should REVIEW: 1- the point of origin of the novel, 2- time frame of the novel, 3- costume of the time frame of the novel. More importantly THIS IS FICTIONAL WRITING. In my opinion please don’t change too much the AUTHOR’S work, put it in italics or underline it. ( even though my opinion is late ) 😂🤣😂🤣

    • Add that author wrote this with fellow Chinese readers in mind and not us foreigners is their end as what’s the chance that he work would be translated

  3. Bah! What only the fifteenth day. I bet from first to thirtieth you sleep in the same bed anyway.

    Thanks for the chapter!

Racism is a dish everyone shares, no one is immune from prejudice and ignorance. Especially someone coming from places where the common citizens are instructed & isolated.

Until the rest of us become saints, I’ll opt for a reserved, nuanced judgment. I thank our little Translator for toning it down so that we can appreciate the story with less wincing & I guess we’ll see how tolerable that portion of the story will be.

  5. thanks for the chapter!

honestly i feel bad for the girl, in her perspective, she was just roughing up somebody misogynistic. ahh sx… quickly learn the lingo so that you dont offend women in the future (๑´ㅁ`)

  6. Misogyny…Speaking as a woman, I wonder if it’s very misogynistic to disdain someone who so enthusiastically offers herself up to be a mistress to your dad and even disgusts you with a illegitimate sibling that’s about your age. Not to mention that this mistress and her illegitimate daughter even have the gall to want to get rid of you? These girls sure have generous hearts.

  7. I read the NU reviews before starting SBME and I kinda lowered my expectations of that arc. Thank you for your hard work with the translation and toning down those uncomfy parts ><

  8. 🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭🥰😣
