Reborn As The Villain President's LoverChapter 71

Ji Qingzhou didn’t expect him to have a New Year’s gift for him, he looked at the hidden blue box in Chu Cheng’s hand and said in surprise, “My New Year’s gift?”

“Right.” Chu Cheng placed it in his hand, “Open it.” YtekRp

Ji Qingzhou looked at the gift in his hand, looked up at him guiltily, and said with an apologetic tone, “But, I didn’t prepare a New Year’s gift for you.”

“I don’t need it.” Chu Cheng said, “No one has stipulated that gifts must be given to each other either.”

Ji Qingzhou still felt a little embarrassed, he felt that he was really too inappropriate, Chu Cheng had remembered to prepare a New Year gift for him, but he hadn’t remembered to prepare a New Year gift for Chu Cheng, it was really too inappropriate.

“Then I’ll make it up to you afterward.” He said. C 0pDF

Chu Cheng didn’t care about that, his gift-giving all depended on his mood, nothing fussy, he glanced at Ji Qingzhou’s guilty look and helplessly said, “Alright, you can give one if you want.”

Only then was Ji Qingzhou in the mood to open the box in his hand. This box wasn’t very big, square, and Ji Qingzhou felt like it contained some kind of jewelry, and as expected, there was a necklace in the box.

It was a very simple necklace, with a black string, a finely carved jade pendant, and no other decorations, simple and plain. Ji Qingzhou picked up the necklace and looked at the slightly shaking jade pendant, and wondered, “What is this? What kind of fruit does it look like? Almond? Peach? Definitely not an apple.”

No wonder he couldn’t name it, the shape of this jade pendant was indeed somewhat special, unlike the common shapes on the market, this pendant was carved in the shape of a fruit being borne on a branch with a leaf. The artisan who carved it was very good in his carving, the leaf had a clear texture, even the veins could be seen, and the fruit was hiding under the leaf, with a clear turquoise color, it was very beautiful.

Chu Cheng heard him ask, and held back a smile as he asked, “What do you think?”

“I don’t see it, but it feels like it should be an apricot, huh, green apricot?”

Chu Cheng laughed in a low voice, reached out, and took the necklace to put around his neck, “It’s apricot yes, and it’s also true that it’s green apricot, a green apricot that’s not yet mature, it’s green, and matches you very well.”

Ji Qingzhou nodded at his words, and looked down at the jade pendant around his neck, “Did you specifically ask someone to carve it?” YOA3pE

“Yeah.”

“Thanks, I like it.”

“Really like it?” Chu Cheng leaned in close and asked.

Ji Qingzhou nodded, “It’s very pretty, and it’s also very different.” xAE34V

Chu Cheng smothered a laugh at his words.

Ji Qingzhou looked at him, the more he looked at him, the more he felt strange, he felt that Chu Cheng’s current appearance was not right, as if he was hiding something from him. Ji Qingzhou stared at him and thought carefully for a while before he finally came to a sudden realization, “You lied to me, didn’t you!”

He looked at Chu Cheng, “What green apricot, not yet mature and matches me perfectly! This apricot is clearly a red apricot, isn’t it!”

Ji Qingzhou was simply amused by him, “Why don’t you take a red jade carving, so the color matches!” KOahSu

Chu Cheng saw him finally respond and laughed for a moment, seeing that Ji Qingzhou looked as if he was angry, he tried soothing him in a good voice, “Angry? Don’t be angry, who said you're a red apricot climbing out of a wall, it’s clearly a red apricot branch of spring, which symbolizes the beauty of spring, and also means that your future will be as beautiful as a spring scene.”

Ji Qingzhou didn’t believe him and lowered his head to look at the jade pendant around his neck.

Chu Cheng followed his gaze and looked over, thinking that this jade pendant was still quite beautiful, “Don’t like it?” He asked Ji Qingzhou, “I drew the design myself, I specifically asked someone to sculpt it.”

Ji Qiangzhou looked at him and Chu Cheng kissed him, “It’s still quite lovely, isn’t it?” hjl0n6

Ji Qingzhou lowered his head and looked at it twice more, and had to admit that this jade pendant, was indeed quite lovely to carve. He laughed softly, thinking that Chu Cheng was quite interesting, before he called him a “cheater”, now he simply carved an apricot to give him, he was really …… a little cute.

Ji Qingzhou turned to look at him, “Do you worry about me being a red apricot all day long?”

“Of course not, but given your antecedents, I sometimes need to remind you properly.”

Ji Qingzhou shook his head, “If I could be reborn ah, I would probably be an apricot tree, if you could, you would probably be a wall. As for me, if the road is one foot high, you would be one foot high and firmly guard me in your wall.” VzmWMw

Chu Cheng laughed, “That’s not right.”

“Yeah, Ah wall.” After Ji Qingzhou said that, he suddenly laughed, he looked at Chu Cheng, and that’s when he realized, ” Chu-wall, out of the wall. Hahahaha, Chu Cheng, you’re screwed, to follow your words, I’m a red apricot tree, we’re just right to be connected together.” yBSdRd

Chu Cheng: ……

Chu Cheng looked at Ji Qingzhou who couldn’t stop laughing, he only felt that it was really a coincidence, he didn’t expect to hear such a statement at all, but he was rebuffed by Ji Qingzhou. Chu Cheng laughed, he just felt that his surname was too unfriendly to him.

“Is it that funny?” Chu Cheng was helpless.

Ji Qingzhou nodded and patted the back of his hand, trying to put away his smile and make himself look serious, “Don’t worry, I'll try to keep myself out of the wall.”

He shook the jade pendant on his neck, “After all, I’m still just a green apricot.”

Chu Cheng was amused by him, he looked at the jade pendant on his neck and said in a warm voice, “Then you remember what you said today.” v5oFCY

Ji Qingzhou made an OK gesture, “Don’t worry.”

After Chu Cheng finished giving the New Year’s gift, he remembered that he also brought dumplings for Ji Qingzhou, he went over and brought the bag over and handed it to Ji Qingzhou, “This is the dumpling my family wrapped, you don’t need to wrap it tomorrow, you can just cook it in the microwave and eat it, it also saves you from making it. I remember that the microwave oven in this ward of Auntie has a button to cook dumplings, right?”

Ji Qingzhou nodded, “It has that function.”

He didn’t expect Chu Cheng to bring dumplings for him, he was a little touched, “This is what you rolled?” tRH7Pp

“My mom and I rolled it out, my brother and my dad wrapped it.”

“Didn’t your parents say anything when you took it out like that?”

“No ah.” Chu Cheng put the dumplings on the table, “I said Shao Yong had a breakup and I had to come out to comfort him and bring him some food on the way, so my mom agreed.”

Ji Qingzhou smiled at the news, “Does Shao Yong know about that?” 9LJbXg

“Of course he knows, we were on the same page.”

Ji Qingzhou listened, feeling a little bitter again in hindsight – Chu Cheng’s family didn’t know he existed, even Chu Cheng had to borrow his friend’s name when he came out to see him, and the relationship between the two of them was ultimately brief and unseen.

“Does your family know about me?” He tested the waters.

“My brother knows, well you’re an artist in his company, he knows more or less.” 2yBc7u

“And did your brother say anything about it?” Ji Qingzhou whispered.

Chu Cheng shook his head, “No.”

He looked at Ji Qiangzhou, “Why do you ask this? Worried he’ll come after you? No, my brother isn’t that kind of person, don’t worry.”

Ji Qingzhou nodded his head, unable to say how he felt at the moment. He looked at the dumplings Chu Cheng placed on the table, these dumplings were the ones Chu Cheng’s mother thought he brought to Shao Yong, but they were not. Chu Cheng’s parents would never know that the dumplings they had wrapped reached him, just like they would never know that Chu Cheng had once had someone like him by his side. tV4fUT

Such a thing was never something that could be brought to the table, Chu Cheng would take him to meet his friends, but never his family. –He was just a brief moment in Chu Cheng’s long life, a flash in the pan to accompany him for a year, never to be seen again.

Therefore, he was just like a short-lived flower that could only open at night and could not see the light.

Ji Qingzhou blinked, quickly adjusting his mind and packing up these negative emotions. There was nothing to be melancholy about, he thought, as he was well aware of their relationship from start to finish. Chu Cheng hadn’t brought him dumplings to make him think about this either.

He turned to look at Chu Cheng and smiled, “Mm, I know. Thank you for the dumplings, so I’ll stop wrapping them for now.” czaJrF

Chu Cheng didn’t know that he had thought so much before this sentence, so he just replied in response to his words, “No need to wrap it, I took quite a lot, it should be enough for both you and your mother.”

“You’re quite attentive.”

“I am.”

Ji Qingzhou looked at him and felt that tonight was quite happy overall – Chu Cheng’s arrival was enough to make him happy. He took out his phone and looked at his watch, it was 11:40 pm, almost midnight. z7h6ic

Ji Qingzhou waited, stuck in the moment and said to Chu Cheng, “Happy New Year.”

After he said that, he leaned forward and kissed Chu Cheng, Chu Cheng kissed him back, took him in his arms, and whispered, “Happy New Year.”

“Mm.” Ji Qingzhou smiled and agreed.

He pulled away from Chu Cheng slightly, looked at him, and said in a warm voice, “Ah Cheng, thank you for coming to spend the New Year with me, I’m very happy.” 4jgRIL

Chu Cheng smiled and didn’t say anything.

“Given that I don’t have a gift to give you yet, so let me send you a card first.” Ji Qingzhou said, “The fifth one.”

“Five cards already?” Chu Cheng didn’t expect there to be so many already, “Then there are only two left, I feel like I’m not far from gathering them all.”

“So you can think about what you want.” djpUWX

“You’re putting me in a tough spot here, what do I want?” Chu Cheng frowned in thought.

“If you really can’t think of anything, just go by what you said at the very beginning.”

“What did I say at the very beginning?” Chu Cheng had completely forgotten about it.

Ji Qingzhou looked at him, a little embarrassed, but still said it, “You said that if you get seven cards, we’ll drive.” 3X8uLH

Chu Cheng was shocked, “Is that what I said in the beginning?” He finished, feeling as if he had actually said that at the time, “But you disagreed, didn’t you?”

“But isn’t there nothing else you want?”

“That’s right.”

Nope! What was this? ! You didn’t agree to it then, why are you agreeing to it now! You’re stuck with it! A row of comments brushed past Chu Cheng’s heart, and he turned to look at Ji Qingzhou, who was looking at him, and saw that his eyes were clear. pys9rg

  1. Ouw there was a twinge in my heart. I’m glad Ji Qing Zhou is recognising his feelings and dealing with it instead of just turning a blind eye to it.

I kinda want them to break up after the one year agreement ends just so Chu Cheng can suffer for a bit, but at the same time I don’t want Ji Qing Zhou to be in pain sgshaksjk

Thank you for the chapter! 💕

    • I disagree with the whole Chu Cheng suffering part. This was originally a transaction entered by two consenting adults. Both knew what they wanted from this agreement, and if the story had gone through the original timeline Chu Cheng would be the one having to suffer an unnecessary loss and getting used for just desiring someone whom he thought desired him back. Therefore only him suffering would be very unfair because both parties are acting inline with the original agreement. So I think if they have to suffer then they should suffer together. So far Chu Cheng hasn’t really wronged QJZ…just putting my 2 cents
      • But he wasnt the original JQZ tho. It’s not comparable to make him suffer too. Afterall, the original JQZ altho the blame was half on his end, already suffered more than just a heartbreak even his mom died bcoz of scum gong.

And my 2 cents, ofc CC will be the one suffering. He’s the one always taking things like a deal between contract lovers, when subconsciously he already fallen for the said contract lover. While JQZ always knew he won’t stay every single time they interact. Altho he will be sad, he won’t be heartbroken by the end of their relationship. He’s just living the short relationship the best he can. Why should he suffer. That’s just unfair, when the initiative isn’t even on his side(to make the relationship real).

        • +1 Agreed! Especially because he keeps paying attention to JQ who clearly knows his boundaries. Like they say, the ones to fall in love first get hurt the most. And I do agree with the original landlord, I want them to finish this transaction so CC can learn and see what he did wrong and accept his feelings.

          • +1 CC is always making assumptions about what JQ thinks/feels and it is really frustrating! CC projects his feeling onto JQ then has a fit about things that didn’t even happen and weren’t going to in the first place! It’s annoying to see him play at being nice to JQ when his gestures are really just slapping JQ in the face half the time! Like the necklace labeling him a cheater or the dumplings from CC’s family; the people that JQ isn’t even qualified to meet because he is just a plaything 😡 Grr…

  2. Hope Chu Cheng soon realize his feelings for JQZ cause boy i cant wait to be fed dog food and be jealous of their relationship (ノ≧∇≦)ノ ミ ┸━┸. Thanks for the chapter❤️

  3. This chapter was lowkey painful u-u Hoping that neither side has to go through much pain before or after they get together (tho a bit of drama and vinegar is fine) for the sake of my fragile heart ><

    Thanks for the chapter! 🙂

  4. JQZ knows his feelings developed deep, CC still denies it. I’m looking forward to the end of their one year agreement >3

    Thx for the ch (≧▽≦)/

  5. Ahhh. Don’t be sad, Ji Qingzhou! Enjoy the moment! You’re together now!

    Thanks for the chapter!

  6. Aaaah~ this bittersweet chapter makes me smile and my heart aches.

    Thank you for the chapter!

  7. Awww 😍 ☺️, JQZ, you are making your man so happy! Don’t think too much about all the negative stuff.

  8. I have a feeling… that ‘driving’ will be JQZ’s ‘parting’ gift to CC after their contract ends 😭😭😭💔

  9. It would be great if CC realises he loves JQZ faster, CC assuming JQZ’s thoughts/feelings is rather annoying now, “sighs” i hope JQZ won’t be heart broken.

  10. MY BROTHER!!!! i can’t even think enough what will happen to brother Chu in the future if they actually did separate. ╥﹏╥

  11. There’s a small part of me that doesn’t want CC to end up as being the ML. I think he’s pretty much an idiot and a jerkwad who belittles his lover and is in denial of his feelings. I think it’d be more interesting if he just broke up after the contract is over and JQZ moved on to someone more appropriate and emotionally mature, while CC eventually regretted his actions to death. I remember there is an omegaverse novel that has a similar theme, with a beta MC who was forced to break up with his alpha fiance after his fiance had a car accident and got temporary amnesia. His fiance believed his parents and everyone who said he was in love with an omega woman, and he married her. But he regained his memory and forced the beta MC to have a child with him. But the beta never ever forgave scumbag ML and scumbag ML was like…. clutching his beta wife’s clothing and sobbing. It was really emotional but I didn’t feel bad for ML because he was even worse than CC here. Some guys just aren’t worth investing emotions in. To some extent I don’t like the trope in BL or any romance where the scumbag ML gets redeemed later because I feel like their relationships are just low-key glorification of emotional abuse. But since I really like this author, I’m willing to see it to the end. I hope that CC has some difficult times and a lot of regrets! Looking forward to some dogblood… not for dogblood’s sake, but because I find CC a bit annoying while he’s so immature, is all. I hope he grows tf up soon!
