Jill 04
Once he finished looking through the written report, Jill immediately summoned Seth and entrusted him to retrieve the bracelet.
For the time being, he could be reassured with this……
Yes, the incident occurred just when he relaxed his tightened nerves.
When Jill realised it, he rushed to the room.
At the place he hastened to was Lilius, limp and unconscious.
Seeing his naked appearance, the thought, “What did Seth do to him?” flashed through his mind, but only for an instant. There was no way this was because of such a stupid thing.
Seth seemed to have something to say, but Jill first ordered him to arrange a clean room and bed, then he wrapped Lilius in a shirt and held him up.
He would never be able to forget the gruesome scar embed on the back of Lilius who was lying down.
Confinement—that word dyed his mind black. So, confinement was just in name, the reality was actually torture. How many wounds did the past Lilius, whose age was no different from Andrea’s, bear? Not just his body. His heart too, how many wounds had been carved into it……
I want to protect you. I want to protect you, who was so vulnerable. I want to protect your beautiful soul.
From the depth of Jill’s soul, magic overflowed and enveloped Lilius, as if to protect him.
◇
When Lilius woke up, the relief came from the bottom of Jill’s heart.
The drowsy Lilius opened his eyes faintly, patting Jill’s head. Although Jill had fallen asleep while hugging him, with Lilius’s presence, his eyes were already open.
What should he do?
Those slender fingers rubbed Jill’s ears, patting them, tickling them. His throat ended up purring unconsciously. Jill didn’t think it was that embarrassing.
But Lilius laughed softly, and ran his fingers through Jill’s hair.
That soft, childlike laughter made Jill’s whole body go numb.

The scent coming from Lilius, who was talking with Jill, was not the smell of repugnance. On the contrary, he gave off a sweet, nice fragrance.
Jill wondered strangely. Normally, this shouldn’t be the case if it was someone he hated?
—Does he not hate me?
He wanted to ask. Yet, he didn’t want his question to cause that sweet fragrance to turn into a cold scent.
Besides, considering Lilius’s body, it was also not good to talk for too long. To tell the truth, enduring it had become difficult. Lilius’s usual frown wasn’t there, and he was smiling at him with that cherubic smile, making Jill’s stomach twist and tighten. His heart was also thumping noisily.
Lilius’s voice was as cold as usual, but his magic had been scattering music notes in the air, as if dancing.
Without a doubt, when he saw that he had Lilius’s favour—Jill lost.
Hugging the conscious Lilius felt different. He gave a kiss to the unbound hair that he had always wanted to touch.
Although his mouth was telling Jill to let go, Lilius’s magic kept giving off a sweet fragrance, and the music notes turned into small flowers, gently, lightly, blossoming.
What would happen if he continued to cuddle him, moving on instinct like this? Had Lilius also felt like this when he hugged Cyril?
But he couldn’t keep straining Lilius’s body.
Even whilst preoccupied with hugging Lilius, Jill kept healing him. Thanks to that, Lilius’s listlessness and pain stemming from his scars seemed to disappear.
Although it was a pity, he had to let go of Lilius. At the moment he relinquished his hold, Jill used a magic spell on him.
This protection spell he left on Lilius’s nape might be able to protect Lilius if he encountered any danger.
Please, take good care of your life.
These words he desperately wanted to convey turned into air and disappeared. Because, as the one who made the decision that threatened his life, speaking out these words would be too selfish and arrogant.
The night of the day Lilius woke up, Jill sat alone, his head muddled with anxieties.
Certainly, the desire to relish in cute things was common to all irregardless whether they were adults or children, but it was not something Jill, as an adult, should have done without confirming with the other person.
He could read Lilius’s heart to a degree by reading his magic, but wasn’t that unfair to Lilius?
After all, Lilius likely didn’t know about it.
About Jill and Seth being able to read others’ hearts.
What would Lilius think of it?
Jill, who read hearts, might be thought of as a monster, and might be hated. He missed his past self from long ago. Back when his disposition would not let him be influenced by such things, nor be hurt by it. If there was leisure time to worry about such trifles, one should spend their time on more useful things.
He thought like that, but recalling Lilius’s shy face from just now, and his childlike laughter when he just woke up, Jill grew extremely tired of his persistent, noisy heart.
This was a serious illness. It had to be some kind of strange disease.
In the mind of Jill, who seriously thought that, there existed no such word as “lovesickness”.
It was a night several days later that turned the circumstances around.
At the same time as there was a swell of magic, Jill felt that his protection spell had been invoked. Promptly sensing and tracing the children’s magic, his heart screamed.
Guy’s magic was coming from Lilius’s room.
Before he hurried there, a firm barrier had been formed. Those that could dole out this much magic power, in this mansion, there should be no one else besides Lilius and Jill.
However, this magic was not his.
To tear down the barrier in front of him, he summoned a magic blade constructed of ice.
Seth and others had arrived before him. He made them step back, sheathed the edge of the blade with magic, and struck.
The dazzling blue gleamed, casting light all around.
Using the tiny, slight seam he was able to open, he forcibly wrenched apart a hole, and went through it. From behind, a voice called out to stop Jill who intended to go on alone, but he could not wait.
Even as the intense pain assailed his whole body, Jill defiantly broke through.
In Jill’s mind, there was nothing but the desire to hold Guy and Lilius, who was laughing like he was crying.
Lilius reached out to the wailing woman. To the very moment her life disappeared, he continued to use healing magic, sacrificing even his own life. Even when he was told to stop, Lilius resisted.
—Ah, he was going to die.
With this condition, Lilius couldn’t be saved.
His mind was filled with despair.
Why, why, why did it have to be Lilius?
Must save him.
He had to save him, no matter by what means.
In Jill’s heart, tiny, fine cracks appeared.
He was sorry for Belus, who had given his service to the Moorwright family for many years. If he had no Spirit Drop, his position would become more difficult than now.
Naturally, using the treasure on a commoner would be faced with all sorts of condemnation. Because of this, he would also be putting a burden on them……
Even so, he wanted to save Lilius, who was now lying at death’s door, wet with blood and his eyes not opening.
Jill had no idea what he would do if Lilius died. The bleak despair crawled towards Jill, surrounding him, its delighted laughter ringing in his ears.
Jill did not hesitate.
Please, open your eyes. I want to hear your voice again.
In the arms that kept embracing him as if in prayer, Lilius revived with a tiny, gasping breath.
This is almost sadder from Jill’s perspective…. Jill is my therapist’s name tho so I’m secretly dying inside trying not to laugh
Hey how tf am I first? I’ve never been first to anything except dessert 0.o
lol thats gonna be a funny story to tell your therapist. better yet recommend this novel to them and see how they react.
Wahhh the expressions used with scent never fail to amaze me. I love the authors attention to detail, and it feels like a whole new scene through Jill’s eyes even though we’ve already experienced these scenes. I just want to protect Lilius from everything 🙁 btw, your translation is so smooth and natural!
Thanks for the chapter! 💓
This chapter moved my heart in several ways… Cuteness for Lily’s childlike laugh and Jill’s fierce hug, sadness for Jill’s hurting for Lily’s past and heart-broken at the end, Jill’s despair is horrible.
Thanks for the chapter!
WoW, I like the description with music notes and tiny flowers, it’s so sweet. I think we are approaching the moment in which Jill’s perspective started, that night by the lake. I so fricking want them to be together, this chapter drived that home even more. Lilius deserves and needs someone who will love him wholeheartedly and help him heal his heart and Jill needs a person whom he can trust unconditionally, who will love him and the children.
Sorry long rant, but I LOVE THIS STORY!!!
Thank you for the chapter!!!
The first part made my heart tickle and the second one rained nails– haha TvT Jill, I didn’t liked you before but now hnnngghh you the best man huhu
Thank you so much for the chapter!!!~ 🙇🙇🙇🙇
Thanks for the chapter! ^ ^)
I binge read this and at this moment I’m crying, Lilius is such a beautiful person and deserves to be happy. Love reading from Jill’s perspective, it made a little more clear the past of Lili and why he try to put walls around him. Also, I need a Seth’s POV , I feel he is kind of romantically interested in lili or it could also be wanting to piss of jill.
