Jill 02 6UuZpd

The only time Lilius’s magic became tinged with a dark shadow was when he talked about his hometown.

During the time they talked about Jill’s relationship to her, when he personally confessed, letting the word “sister” come out of his mouth: like drops of rain, black trickled in and spread darkly against the transparent blue light emitted by him.

That was definitely the scent of hatred.

When Lilius himself suggested a contract to prevent him from touching the children, Jill felt favorably towards him. YoCVaO

Frank eyes, unwavering magic.

Jill understood that this was his way of apologising and showing his sincerity, offered from the bottom of his heart.

Yet, in the first place, magic was something with many loopholes.

If the one breaking the spell had greater magic reserves than the one placing the spell, any spell would turn worthless.

The heart and mind given by Lilius were something Jill wished he could accept welcomingly. However, from the looks of it, Lilius’s magic reserves rivalled Jill’s.

If the one in ten-thousand chance was true, and Lilius was working with her to destroy them, then it would be a quick thing.

Besides, even if Lilius did not have any harmful intentions, what if she was using Lilius?

Actually, Andrea had already become attached to Lilius. JLrF w

When the two went out to town, it would have been simple for her to attack then.

It was even conceivable that Lilius might have been tricked somehow and brought the children out as she wanted.

Jill wondered at the uncomfortable emotions that suddenly ran through him.

If only they had met in a much different situation, surely. Surely, he would have, to him— 9OWp1z

Abruptly, he stopped thinking as his mind touched a frightening place.

It was well-known that noble kings and great heroes fell to depravity due to carnal desires. It was only his magic — indeed, although Lilius was beautiful, wasn’t it just the attraction of his magic? Doing something like desiring him without even knowing his true identity, Jill felt that he was a terribly deplorable man.

The plan Jill set forth, that they finally compromised on — the bracelet — had a magic spell on it.

Utilising blood to invoke, it was a protection spell. dtYVvL

However, the effect changed according to the wearer. When wearing this, Lilius, who was not a target of his guardianship, would be hurt if he used a spell that carried attacking intentions against Jill’s family or comrades.

Because Lilius’s magic reserves rivalled Jill’s, it wouldn’t have that much effect. But giving the attacked person a moment necessary for a chance to escape was possible.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

The bracelet he held out silently was accepted by Lilius without a word. The reason Jill gave no explanation was to see how he would behave. If he didn’t act, then the spell wouldn’t be invoked. Moreover, it was possible for Lilius to remove it as he liked by his own will. Whether he would wear it on himself, or put it somewhere else, or what to do with it, Jill didn’t say a word to order him.

“Got it. I’ll accept this.” NI60wB

“Someone like that woman’s younger brother must be a good-for-nothing guy~” lnI9Kr

“I believe if you met him, you would also understand my actions. Nevertheless, cease this extremely rude conduct. Do not treat him any differently from any other guests.

“Hmmm? What’s this, Commander is moved by affection?”

“That’s not it. I know this will trouble you, but the only one I can trust with this is Seth. Please. ”

“Well, if you say it like that, I already know I can’t refuse~~ Ah–aah~ I get it, I’ll take this on!” RdVog2

Seeing Jill’s troubled expression, Seth gave in.

Seth had intervened between her and the children many times. In a sense, it could be said he knew her better than Jill. It was the first time Jill saw Seth, who was usually sympathetic and sentimental, despising a person so much.

The scars she left still remained, even after their physical forms had disappeared.

“Well, if Commander and I both guard him, it’ll be the strength of a hundred people, eh?” mCEPan

“Certainly. Rather than ineptly leaving him be and hoping it’ll be fine, it would be better to have him here, under our eyes.”

“There’s also a chance he might run away, right? Moreover, the young master came with that Lilius guy completely of his own heart. …… If, by chance, if we expel him, he might say again ‘I hate Father the most!’—”

Seth chuckled obnoxiously, and Jill felt a sense of dread at his words.

To be honest, he didn’t want to talk about those times. When he drove her out, how much he had hurt Andrea. X8F3iH

When Andrea shouted that he hated him, his heart hurt unbearably to the point he wondered if it was physically being crushed. In a sense, it was a sensitive point for Jill. Knowing that, Seth also ridiculed him boldly.

Judging that Jill was really troubled, Seth seemed to find it satisfactory and left the room. This was definitely revenge for taking advantage of Seth’s conscience just now with the pretence of being troubled.

If he was with Seth, who could make friends with anyone, then maybe Lilius too could let down his guard just a little bit.

Although it was only for a few days, it was like being under house arrest at the mansion. What Jill could do now was to hurry up the investigation at least a little bit, then go to release him. Axq pe

Jill called his shadow vassals and ordered them to investigate in detail Lilius’s personal history in his native country as part of his background check.

Since Lilius came, a few days had lapsed and various changes had occurred.

The Seth at the time of accepting the order seemed like an illusion. Now, he had taken sides with Lilius. The children as well, each of them became concerned about Lilius. Due to that, when he was in the mansion, they seemed to have even quarrelled with each other to monopolise his time.

Jill was no exception, a pleasant change also took place. jWcNTz

The shy and extremely reticent Cyril came to Jill’s side with a crown of flowers in his hand.

“……Hwere, this, for Fwather, Cyril made it.”

“Thank you.”

Small white and pink flowers were skillfully tied and fastened together into a wreath. Although he knew that parents had a filter for their children, he still thought it was the best work of art in the world. QABbw4

Jill hid the pleasure that was running wild in his heart, and smiled as kindly and gently as he could.

Seemingly embarrassed, Cyril squirmed wrestlessly and didn’t meet Jill’s eyes for a long time. Mutually, neither of them knew what to say, and the nervous atmosphere stagnated.

At that moment, Lilius came into the room in search of Cyril.

“Oh, you properly passed it, huh? Good job.” f4rKUz

“Un! Fwather, is happy.”

“Fufu, I see.”

Making tiny, ‘te-te-te’ footsteps, Cyril leaped at Lilius’s chest.

Lilius hugged the tiny body that energetically leaped at him, and nuzzled against the soft surface of the silver-white hair. k2MvRg

“Kyaa—”

“Hmm, smells like sun and flowers.”

“Un, played lwots.”

Seeing the two talking quietly, Jill felt envious. 8gOsb7

Which one he was envious of, he didn’t know. Envious of Cyril who received Lilius’s smile, or envious of Lilius who was hugged by Cyril.

…… He didn’t want to admit that he was envious of both of them.

“It’s not for holding in your hand, you know?”

Lilius walked towards Jill, who had been a silent bystander watching them. Held in his arms, Cyril was swinging his legs to and fro in great delight. 8a23Be

“This is a crown, so it’s only truly perfect when it’s placed on top of the head.”

Whilst saying that, Lilius snatched the wreath from Jill’s hands. Then he handed it to Cyril, and urged Jill to stoop down.

“Is this fine?”

“Aa. Cyril, place it on your Dad’s head.” WhzXfG

“Ai!”

Although awkwardly, Cyril managed to bequeath the wreath onto Jill’s head. On a muscular man like himself, something like this probably looked funny. But unlike Jill’s thoughts, Cyril laughed in delight, his cheeks dyed red.

“Fwather, it matches! Like king in storybooks.”

“Thank you, Cyril.” FOad1y

“Um, that, Cyril, want Fwather hug…… not okay?”

Cyril said that while hiding his face in the groove of Lilius’s neck. After snatching a glance at Jill, he quickly turned his face away. The face filled with trepidation, as if expecting to be scolded, pricked a small thorn in Jill’s heart.

“As much as Cyril likes. This doesn’t have to be asked, I am your father after all.”

“……Thank you.” r06Fkv

Cyril’s sparkling eyes became slightly wet.

The weight of the body he hugged up in his arms made Jill’s chest twist inside. The child had grown this much. He had been able to grow up healthily.

Chrysanthemum Garden.

The life whose fate he was once uncertain of for a period of time, was now in his arms, the very picture of health.

Jill was unbearably, impossibly, happy. Ekjvsz

“…… Are you crying?”

“No, I was just slightly moved emotionally, that’s all.”

“Heh…… You also can laugh like that, huh? I thought you were a much colder guy, but I’m relieved to be able to see you unexpectedly being a clumsy human.”

Lilius’s nonchalant words greatly affected him. Ukzmub

Jill himself wondered what kind of expression he was making now.

He had always been carrying out a monotonous life.

Seldomly experiencing emotions, whether happiness or sadness. Even for determining the correct and the wrong, he used rational choices, rather than emotions.

As a result, there was that thing, peeking out from under the shirt sleeve, hanging delicately on Lilius’s arm. pwdALB

Even while desiring Lilius, to prioritise the children, to make the correct decision as a nobility, the result was taking him as prisoner.

The more he became acquainted with Lilius, the more Jill’s impression of him turned deeper and better.

But on the contrary, Lilius probably had no favorable thoughts of Jill.

There shouldn’t have been any hesitation with regards to being hated. Wg3QLR

It was with that intention that he handed the bracelet over. Now that it had come to this point, Jill was still unable to recognise the reason why he felt slightly lonely.

Thanks everyone for waiting! My exams are done, so I’ll be back to the normal schedule next week onwards.

To answer Phantom Shade’s question from last chapter, there’s a lot more of Jill’s POV coming.

  1. Thank you for the update!! 😘 Jill’s POV provides a lot more insight on reasons behind what has happened. It’s fascinating to read the story from the POV of an actually clumsy father who doesn’t know how to properly interact with his children but loves them dearly. Absolutely sweet.❤❤❤

  2. Cyril is so painfully adorable, I absolutely adore him!!

And Jill’s POV is really nice to read. We can see the situation from someone other than Lily’s POV and understand their line of thought and actions. So I’m glad to see there’ll be more 😀

    Thanks for the chapter! 🙂

  3. This sister wow. I love how you can pretend and lie all you want, but there will always be those who can see you as you are. I can only imagine how it must have been for the children, especially for them who needed magic.

    Thanks for the update ❤

  4. aaahhh this is so heartwarming 🥺❤️ thanks for the update~

  5. More of Jill’s pov! Good good good.

It has been really difficult for him, to open up his heart to Lily, despite his identity.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  6. This is all fine and dandy, but these suspicions only work if Lily wanted to go with them and stay with the children I the first place. They’re the ones who dragged him away from the village amd insisted he stayed with them. All the prejudice and precautions and insults are all dogshit and unwarranted. If they were truly worried they’d have left him in the village and made people spy on him.

    • +1 So true, but at the same time, Jill is too soft on his kids, especially because of what happened with their mother. So I think he would’ve let Lilius come along and then put protective procedures to prevent him from possibly hurting the children.

    • +1 it was extremely selfish and wilful to imprison him instead of letting him go about his own life. I think that’s why even translator-san thought Jill was royalty because a King or prince can easily disregard the laws and rights of their own land and people.

  7. Thank you so much for the update and I hope all your exams went well! I’m really enjoying seeing things from Jill’s POV. Cyril is the cutest lil lion baby :((

  8. More Jill POV? Y E S 👌

Though yeah, i agree that taking Lilius away from his comfort zone and treated like a prison guest was an awful move. They don’t even prepare for the instance that he might be treated wrongly. They didn’t actually care 😢

Lilius just thought it was what he deserved 🥺

Lilius deserves a lot of things but not this nor his blood relatives 😭

    Thank you for translating 💕🙏💕
