  6. Happy Chinese New Year!
    I was just thinking this was my favorite chapter after the confession scene! A few reasons of course- 100% your point about cherishing the good in humanity and how it’s really small acts of kindness that change the course of history no matter a person’s station in life. Displaying the details here humanizes these characters, gives detail that makes the world real and valuable. It also ties up the childhood loose end a bit even if it is a melancholy ending to a good woman in an unfortunate situation. On a lighter note, whet started me off loving this chapter was just the relationship dynamics at play. Yes the vinegar sipping and claims of sovereignty, but my favorite bit was interrupting that moment of intimacy to play fight. Its such a unique way to be flirty with one another, fits their characters so well, and also shows their age! These boys are teenagers- they may want to jump each other romantically, but jumping each other to tussle is such a uniquely youthful moment that’s a kind of innocence, even if clearly bother want this to end in bed. I love it! Such a great moment!

  13. ive always been thinking that QiQi really does carry a lot of potential as long as he puts his mind to it – he sometimes mentions that he needs more power in order to protect his loved ones but so far he mostly relies on Dan Yi. i hope he can be motivated soon so we can watch him grow!!

    on a side note (forgot to comment this on a prev chapter) one of the earlier mini-theatres mentioned Dan Yi and Qiqi together thousands of years later, so im assuming they will find out the secret to becoming immortals? o:

  16. This is such a exemplary chapter. Chen Ziqi’s and Dan Yi’s personalities & mannerisms really shine through here; Xiaoru’s fate — while a good reminder of how depraved people can be — is utterly sickening.

    Rest in piece, Xiaoru jie. Your murderers will get their comeuppance one day and there’s still someone who remembers you fondly
