Our Sweet DaysChapter 59

There were only so long that Sun Fang would allow himself to live in ignorance, ignoring the problem in favor of doing inconsequential things like watching movies while munching on popcorn. At some point, he’d get annoyed with himself and try to do some soul-searching. In this case, it was about Mo Cheng.

The fact of the matter was, he knew nearly nothing about Mo Cheng. And that was just… weird. They’d been dating for a couple of months, yet Sun Fang didn’t know anything about Mo Cheng’s family, or what Mo Cheng did before he got his bakery. He didn’t know what Mo Cheng really thought of Ivy, or how old Mo Cheng was. And it wasn’t like Sun Fang was stuck in some arcane mindset where he needed to know everything about Mo Cheng; no, it was just that he felt like he knew nothing at all. 19Vhk7

And considering that they’d been dating, that was probably a bad thing. When he thought about it, it wasn’t even strange that he wasn’t in love with Mo Cheng.

How could he fall in love with someone that he didn’t know?

Chrysanthemum Garden.

Sighing, he stood from his seat and began to pace int he long hallway. Ivy was busting around in the kitchen, cooking dinner, and so Sun Fang was uninterrupted in his sulking. He’d been staying away from Mo Cheng and it had only confirmed his suspicions when breaking up with the beta—Sun Fang had been far too self-absorbed during their time together and had thus ignored Mo Cheng’s actual existence.

It didn’t help that Mo Cheng had a very passive and calm personality, he was nothing like the vibrant and loud (personality-vise) people that Sun Fang usually hung out with. When he actually thought about it, he didn’t even really know how he was supposed to interact with Mo Cheng, just on that basis.  6aH3pM

”This is a never-ending mess,” he muttered to himself, stopping in front of the hallway mirror and looking at his reflection. He’d gotten his hair cut, and it now stopped right above his shoulders. It curled more like this than it did when it was long; no excessive weight pulling it down, he supposed. He’d cut his bangs too when he was at it. It no longer hung into his eyes and annoyed him, so that was nice.

Mo Cheng had asked for distance, and it had been weeks now. And Sun Fang was actually starting to become really curious about what Mo Cheng’s past was like. What had he done before he got his café? How had he been able to afford to open a café in such an expensive location? Did he always want to be a baker? And for that matter, what were his hobbies? What did he to do relax?

Surely, a single text wouldn’t hurt. He wouldn’t actually call him, and if Mo Cheng didn’t respond, Sun Fang could take the hint. He’d lay off until Mo Cheng contacted him. He’d turn the other way around and walk away really quickly if he saw him on some street.

But he was curious.

Walking over to the kitchen entrance, he peeked in. Ivy was still diligently cooking something on the stove (that smelled absolutely amazing, Sun Fang was basically salivating and couldn’t wait to eat it) so he returned to pacing in the hallway. After a bit more of head-scratching, he pulled out his phone and opened the contact to Mo Cheng.

The text he sent was beautiful in its simplicity. It simply read sorry for bothering you, but I’m curious, what did you used to do before you got your café?

He even added a smiling and blushing emoji.

Then he dropped his phone on a table and walked away from it, pretending that it didn’t exist and in fact, had never existed at all. Sun Fang owning a phone? That sounded like complete lunacy, he would never do something so low class. No, no, if there did so happen to be a phone in his home, it was purely a decorative object capable of no actual use.  3sXxy6

Grinning a little at his own thought, he made his way back to the kitchen. He peeked around the empty doorframe and asked Ivy, ”Is it done yet?”

”Almost, Young Master,” said Ivy without turning around. It continued, ”You may set the table, if you so wish.”

”Okay,” Sun Fang popped and entered the kitchen. He went through the cupboards in search of a plate and the other cutlery needed, picking a tall wineglass to drink from. He wasn’t going to drink wine (it was only lunchtime), but it was kind of funny to drink from it regardless. Putting everything in order on the kitchen table, he got a napkin and laid it on his lao when he sat down.

”Thank you for the meal,” he said when the food was carried to the table by Ivy. It looked gorgeous, steam still billowing up from it en masse. And somehow, it smelled even better than it looked, his nostrils itching a little from the strength of it. Sun Fang contained the urge to sneeze, holding his nose close with two fingers while he waited for the urge to pass. ofOVSe

Ivy’s tiny smile was heart wrenching. ”It was no trouble at all, Young Master,” Ivy said, stepping back.

”Please, call me Fang’er,” Sun Fang said, smiling cheekily. Ivy didn’t blush, the function not available, but its lips did do a tiny twitch that was almost the same thing. Sun Fang smiled brighter, standing up a little so he could ladle food onto his plate. The entire meal was brightly colored, the combination definitely photo worthy.

”Maybe one day,” Ivy said at last, the voice quieter than usual. But Sun Fang heard it, and so he grinned wide and bit down on a large piece of rice. His eyes closed in pleasure, the taste exploding in his mouth. This, truly, must be what the ancient earth people meant when they spoke of heaven.
