Sun Fang didn’t say another word to his brother and ex-fiancé during their time at the hospital. He saw no reason to interact with them; it wasn’t like they actually had bonds or cared about each other deep, deep down. Marcus had never let Sun Fang in, justified in his ardent belief that Sun Fang was a lying gold-digger, and Sun Yi said pretty words but he never actually listened to anything Sun Fang said. What was the point of talking with people like that? People that had already decided to distrust everything he said?

It destroyed his good mood, thinking about this. He didn’t like it, and so he turned his nose up, turned to Mianmian and didn’t spare those two people another glance. He had no desire to waste any more energy on them. gend h

After three days in the hospital, Mianmian and Casey went home. They went to the mansion, Sun Fang riding in the car next to Mianmian while Deng Xi was making silly faces at the baby. Sun Yi and Marcus had at that point already left the planet and returned to the Sun Family main house on Lakerroyi. Nobody had gone with them to the spaceport.

After another two days, it was time for Sun Fang to make his own exit. While he would love to stay indefinitely and sneakily move in without anyone the wiser (it was a gigantic mansion, he bet nobody would notice for weeks) he was not an inconsiderate asshole. Mianmian had just had a baby—he didn’t need any stress. Leaving before Sun Fang accidentally said something about eloping would probably be best.

People weren’t supposed to know that he was still a little bit in love with Mianmian—probably always would be. The fires had long since died out and there was certainly none of that excitement from when they were dating but… well, sometimes he looked at him and his heart stopped beating and his mouth dried and he couldn’t say anything.

”I will see you soon,” Sun Fang said to Mianmian while he waited for Ivy to arrive with the car. They were standing outside in the morning sunlight, the trees rustling in the wind and the birds gently making their presence known in the form of lots of chirping. Sun Fang stood facing Mianmian.

Mianmian nodded, ”Of course. I’ll talk to Xiao Xi and set a date for our visit,” he added, his hand gently stroking Casey’s head. The girl was dozing in the sling on his chest, her tiny fluff of dark hair  nearly cute enough to make him want kids of his own. Nearly.

But while babies were adorable, Sun Fang had never had any desire to have them.

Hearing the sound of the car approaching, he stepped up to Mianmian and hugged him (and Casey, too, by default). Mianmian’s hand landed on his back and squeezed him, muttering, ”I’ll miss you, darling,” into his ear.

Laughing, Sun Fang said, ”I’ll miss you, too. One day when we’re old and our paramours have left us for younger omegas, I hope you’ll remember me and we’ll have some fun of our own.” The last was a bit too heartfelt for him, and he cleared his throat.

But Mianmian merely snorted on a laugh. Pressing a soft kiss to Sun Fang’s cheek, he said, ”Obviously. Hit me up anytime, baby, and I’ll show you the time of your life,” he purred, his eyes sultry as he looked at Sun Fang.

Snorting, Sun Fang stepped back. He swept his hand over Casey’s head and played with the little tuft of hair. ”I’ll call when we arrive,” he said. After one last quick hug and a wave to Deng Xi, Sun Fang entered the car. He slumped against the backrest and closed his eyes, the image of Mianmian holding his baby still lit up in his mind. If he tried hard enough, he could almost convince himself that—well, it didn’t bear thinking of.

Sun Fang almost choked on a laugh. He brushed his hand through his hair and pushed his bangs behind his ear; they were starting to grow long enough that they’d stay there on their own. Perhaps it was time to cut them again? ”I’m fine,” he said, pressing his hand over his eyes.

”I loaded your favorite movie on your phone,” Ivy said, not a hint of inflection in its voice. 

”Did you? Thank you.”

”There are chips in the box below the seat next to you,” Ivy commented. LdWQo4

”Really? That’s nice.”

”And sparkling cold soda in the fridge-compartment,” Ivy added.

Sun Fang’s lips twitched, ”It’s a ten minute drive to the airport.” 

”I’m sure we can take it with us on the plane to the spaceport,” Ivy breezily said. It seemed completely serious, and Sun Fang laughed. He futilely tried to suppress his grin as he opened the box and grabbed a bag of chips, reaching over to the box next to it to grab a strawberry-flavored soda. Like Ivy said, it was ice cold. VBPfFk

He began to quietly snack on them as he pulled his phone out of his purse and turned on the movie. He’d seen it a thousand times already and could recite his favorite lines off the top of his head, and it still never failed to make him laugh. And even though he only had fifteen minutes to watch it (he suspected Ivy took a lounger route on purpose) it still sufficiently cheered him up that when they entered the airport, the melancholy was already dripping off him.

Ivy led the way through the airport, Sun Fang expertly reading posts on his phone while walking. He easily spun around any oncoming obstacles that got in his way. And soon enough, he was on the place headed to the spaceport where his ride home was waiting.
