Our Sweet DaysChapter 28

They went to a parlor. Sun Fang kept a hold of Mianmian’s hand the entire way, hyperaware of their point of connection. He kept looking down to make sure that Mianmian was really there; that it wasn’t just yet another dream of his.

His heart was beating a mile a minute, his stomach tingling so hard that he thought a whole swarm of butterflies would burst out and eat him on the way. Alright, so that was slightly more macabre than he usually was, but it was the first time he’d met Mianmian face to face in months and he was feeling dramatic, okay.  nUwqG

Sun Fang had worked hard for decades; he was entitled to his drama.

In the parlor, they sat down next to each other on the couch. Sun Fang watched with wide eyes as Mianmian spread out and sighed deeply, his head falling back against the backrest. He slumped on the black leather couch, Sun Fang moving so they sat close enough their thighs were touching.

”Are you feeling okay?” Sun Fang asked as soon as they were settled. He turned around so that he was sitting facing Mianmian and stared at the other omega with bright eyes.

Mianmian laughed and smiled, ”I’m fine. I’ve gone over this time and time again with my therapist.” BWrTpx

Sun Fang held out his hand and smiled when Mianmian took it, gripping it tightly. ”I know you’re fine. There is nothing in the world you couldn’t do. But fine doesn’t mean can’t be better. So. How do I make things better?” Sun Fang asked, his smile soft.

”Watch a movie with me,” Mianmian said. He swung their hands in the air and grinned brightly. ”Let’s have a sleepover in the living room, old-times style.”

Sun Fang grinned back, ”Do you even have a living room? Aren’t there only parlors and sitting rooms?”

”Oh, fuck you,” Mianmian was grinning though, so Sun Fang only preened in response.

As it turned out, they didn’t even have to go anywhere. The wall facing the couch they were sitting on slid open in the middle to reveal a large TV. It looked like it was mounted into the wall itself, and it was the kind of excess waste of clever machinery that Sun Fang’s family loved. There was absolutely no useful purpose for this; it was just so that the owner could feel clever.

A servant (an AI android that had worked for Deng Xi’s family for over a generation and was thus extremely outdated and should technically be replaced, but Deng Xi’s mother wouldn’t hear of it) deliver food and drinks to them. The movie they were watching was an old favorite of theirs; they had seen it together when it had premiered in their teens.

Cuddling on the couch under a single, thick blanket, they sat with their legs entwined and enjoyed the movie. Chips were eating, soda was drank, muffled laughter was heard as they reached that section they knew was coming but it was still funny, okay. Sun Fang leaned his head against Mianmian’s shoulder and sank deeper into the couch, yawning as his tiredness started to catch up with him.

His eyelids fluttered as night began to fall. Mianmian was warm against him, a reminder that some things hadn’t been lost. He curled tighter around him, feeling the baby kick against his hand. He smiled, murmuring, ”Strong kid,” to Mianmian. ddj7If

”Don’t I know it,” Mianmian mumbled back, exhaustion clinging to him as well.

Sun Fang picked up his glass and sipped down the last of the soda. Blinking doubtfully at it, he frowned at the empty glass and stretched out the impossible distance to place it on the coffee table. Falling back against the couch, he snuggled back down.

Mianmian was easily the best snuggler in the world. Honestly, if there was an award for snuggling, Mianmian would win it hands down. No competition.

The movie was leading into the climax and Sun Fang forced his eyes to stay open. He felt Mianmian shift against him, felt the other man arch his back and sigh. Glancing over, he saw the yawn breaking out and the soft curl to his hair. yA8erd

Sun Fang looked forwards again. His heart jumped and squeezed as the climax scene finally came on and he felt more than saw Mianmian tense up as well next to him. As the scene progressed, the sleepiness that had been clinging to Sun Fang for an hour now started to get get the better of him. He yawned again.

”Time for bed?” he asked when the scene was over, knowing full well he’d never hear the end of it if he interrupted it. Mianmian nodded and swung his legs over the couch’s end, waving his hands in the air before he settled them on the couch and pushed himself up. His stomach came up first, the rest of him following.

Sun Fang contained his mirth, forcing his lips to stop twitching. ”My room?” Mianmian asked, his voice light. He yawned again.

”Yeah,” Sun Fang said, his mouth drier than it had been a second ago.  zJj8C

They lumbered slowly down the long hallways, the night’s light filtering in through large floor-to-ceiling windows. They were followed by a servant that kept careful watch of Mianmian, presumably to make certain he was alright. It was the kind of unnerving single-minded attention that would have made Sun Fang shudder.

The fact that it didn’t say anything just made it worse.

Turning a corner, they found themselves in a different wing of the manor. Mianmian led the way, holding Sun Fang’s hand and swinging them with a smile, to a large door. It opened as they got close, and the servant thankfully didn’t follow them in.

”Here,” Mianmian said and pointed to the gigantic bed with what felt like a hundred pillows gathered on it in a large pile in the middle of the room. ”I’ll pee first,” Mianmian added and quickly disappeared through a side door. Sun Fang watched him go for a moment, then walked over to the bed and sat down. D9enGg

It was unbelievably comfortable.
