Yue Shizhong’s heart lifted slightly as he waited for Dr. Li’s following words.
Since the doctor had encountered three other cases, it meant he was at least familiar with the symptoms, maybe how to cure it as well.
Dr. Li continued, “My research team named it ‘Preferential Camouflage Pheromone’.”
Everyone was startled.
“Preferential?” Yue Shizhong was slightly puzzled. “We have seen doctors before, and they all said that Ran Ran’s pheromone becomes the most unpleasant smell for any alpha who received it. Are you saying this is a process of selecting the best?”
Dr. Li shook his head. “It has nothing to do with the smell. If someone really hates a smell, they would want to vomit if they smell too much of it, not fainting. I have questioned the alpha students and the rescue team present on the scene. Basically, they feel an intense repellent followed by a tingling sensation in the scalp. The best way to describe it would be the feeling of being intimidated by a powerful alpha.”
Everyone was surprised. “Alpha?”
“That’s the feeling it gives only to alphas.” Dr. Li added. “That’s why during their estrus period, the pheromones’ concentration would double, increasing the effect and intimation to the peak and resulting in making surrounding alphas faint.”
Seeing that everyone was in a daze, the doctor explained patiently, “Similar to betas with more alpha features. This kind of mutated pheromone also deviates more towards alpha, but it also allows other alphas to clearly distinguish the difference. Knowing this only happens with omegas, we added ‘camouflage’ .”
Feng Zhuohao asked, “Then how was I able to smell it?”
Dr. Li answered, “This is another major feature. Their mutated pheromones usually have a threshold. Alphas with pheromones stronger than this threshold can correctly analyse the smell with their receiver, any other alpha with less could only feel repelled by it. All of this is according to the data we collected. Currently, this kind of pseudo-A pheromone could repel ninety-percent of alphas…Think of it as a screening.”
After his explanation, he turned to Feng Zhuohao. “What’s more, they smell several times better than ordinary omegas, right?”
Feng Zhuohao silently confirmed.
It indeed smelled amazing, his symptoms caused by the estrus period had not been relieved even now. He had to take two more tablets before coming.
Dr. Li suggested, “Go downstairs and use the S-type suppressant. Or else you won’t be able to sleep tonight.”
S-type suppressant was specifically used for alphas who have completely lost their reasoning.
Feng Zhuohao had his nature at his beck and call for many years, and had always felt that only weak alphas would use the S-type suppressant, but at the moment, he didn’t want to refute this suggestion. For his precious quality of sleep, he decided to listen to the expert.
Yue Shizhong slowly digested the doctor’s words, and could feel the gloom in his heart swept away.
It turned out that the reason why those alphas didn’t like his Ran Ran was not because of his son’s pheromones, but because they weren’t worthy of the youth. They couldn’t smell it correctly at all!
But he still threw out the question. “Can this be cured?”
Dr. Li replied, “I’m still in the middle of research, and I haven’t found an effective method yet.”
Yue Shizhong uttered “I see” and saw that a large number of doctors nearby were waiting to discuss questions with Dr. Li, so he didn’t bother the good doctor anymore. After thanking Dr. Li, he sent the other man to the elevator before coming back.
At this moment, Yue Ran was nibbling the slices of apple in his room, while nibbling, he glanced at the door where his father and the doctor disappeared to earlier from time to time.
Qin Xiujie and Jiang Xiao were both with him. The former looked at his extremely curious tiny appearance, couldn’t hold back his chuckle, and then saw the youth look at him immediately. He quickly put on an innocent look.
* * *
Since the suppressant Ran Ran took was still in effect, the estrus period symptoms weren’t as obvious. He was discharged after three days of observation.
This time, he was bitten by Jiang Xiao which temporarily eased the estrus period’s first round, with medicine supplied by the doctor, Yue Ran was able to stay clear headed. But that didn’t mean the symptoms were relieved. During this period, he would be more sensitive, restless, easy to trigger, would lose his temper from time to time, so not the time to be teased.
Of course, Yue Ran didn’t let the other man’s chuckle go. “What were you laughing at?”

Qin Xiujie shared, “I played ranked with him last night. He went to use the restroom in the middle of a match. So his roommate helped him finish. He revealed that the powerful Sun God actually has a baby face.”
Yue Ran: “…”
He turned to Jiang Xiao, and saw the latter nod. His mind immediately moved away from Dr. Li, asking, “Do you have his photo?”
Jiang Xiao flipped through the photos on his phone and handed it over.
Upon seeing this, Qin Xiujie walked over and looked at the photo with Yue Ran, seeing that the person in the photo really had a baby face.
It was said that Pure White Sun was the same as Sunken Moon, his genes were more towards alpha, so his facial features were very good-looking, but maybe because of his parents’ appearance, he had a baby face. If he lied about his age being sixteen, no one would question it.
Yue Ran thought about the image of the domineering monk in the game that caused bloodshed in the battle, and then back at the player’s face, he felt some of the monk’s intimidation vanished.
When Qin Xiujie thought about his time studying under Pure White Sun, how behind the screen was such a face, he couldn’t hide his smile, so he hurriedly requested Jiang Xiao to send it to him.
Jiang Xiao glanced at his friend and sent all of Pure White Sun’s photos.
So Qin Xiujie found a place to sit, no longer provoking his cousin, and prepared to be a transparent light bulb.
Yue Ran’s mind wandered in a circle for a moment before returning to the day’s events. “Why didn’t he tell me earlier?”
Jiang Xiao guessed, “He probably didn’t want to disturb your rest.”
Yue Ran murmured, “I was obviously awake!”
Jiang Xiao knew that the youth wanted to hear about his condition, so he lifted the other up into his arms from behind and soothed him, promising to ask questions for him and not to hide anything from him. Yue Ran was quickly coaxed and began to concentrate on nibbling the apple. Jiang Xiao smelled his pheromones and pressed his tongue against his canine teeth, wanting to take another bite.
Yue Ran was oblivious to the danger, and even snuggled deeper into his arms.
Jiang Xiao’s eyes darkened, and strength behind his arms immediately increased, as he was thinking up an excuse to send Qin Xiujie away, when he heard the sound of an opening door. Yue Shizhong and the others came back.
Yue Shizhong saw the way they were snuggling and felt a sense of heartbreak that his son was being married off, but maintained his fatherly and professorial appearance and briefly told his son about Dr. Li’s analysis.
Yue Ran listened in awe and asked, “How come the other doctors didn’t seek the same answer when they tested with my pheromones?”
Forcing himself to divert his desire, Jiang Xiao assumed, “Maybe when they asked, the alphas shared about the repelling and disgusted feeling, causing the doctor to think in the wrong direction.”
“Or maybe it was because those alphas didn’t want to share the truth,” Yue Shizhong appeared very proud and self-satisfied. “Think about it, an alpha being intimidated by an omega, how humiliating would it be to reveal that.”
Yue Ran uttered “Oh”, now his curiosity was satisfied, he shifted his attention. He was happy as long as Jiang Xiao wasn’t ‘disabled’.
His gaze flickered to the Captain Feng who had followed in.
Feng Zhuohao simply thought to check on the patient since he was here before leaving, so he wanted to come and say hello.
But when he lifted his head, he saw two people leaning against each other, so he was immediately feeling a bit irritated, knowing that this was from his instincts, he didn’t dare to stay longer. After a short conversation, he bid farewell, went below to get the prescribed medicine and walked to the parking lot with it.
His men were waiting for him, and when they saw him return, they gossiped right away.
“Hey Captain, how about it? What did the expert say?”
“Did he say it was the legendary high genetic match, the one that’s 99.9%?”
“Ones that are destined to be together!”
“Does that mean we’re gonna have a sister-in-law?”
Feng Zhuohao slammed the car door shut and shouted, “Scram.”
The off-road vehicle drove slowly out of the hospital, merging into the brightly lit traffic, and soon disappeared.
As night fell, only the family members stayed the night, the rest of the visitors left the hospital wing.
The doctor was worried that Yue Ran’s second round of estrus period would remain uncontrollable, so Jiang Xiao was kept in the room. In response, Deng Ling upgraded her son’s room into two bedrooms and a living room suite. She spent the night with her son while Jiang Xiao slept in the other room.
Yue Shizhong wanted to spend the night in the hospital as well. But seeing his wife was ready to kick him out to a hotel, he glanced at Jiang Xiao and decided to share a room with the other man in the name of saving money on the hotel, and have a conversation, alpha to alpha.
Jiang Xiao naturally didn’t reject the idea because he wanted to get into his father-in-law’s good graces. As they were about to turn in for the night, they heard a racket outside, Jiang Xiao opened the door and saw four people asking the nurse about which room Yue Ran was staying in.
Yue Shizhong also followed him out and asked, “What’s going on?”
Jiang Xiao shared, “I think they are Zhou Jieying’s people.”
He was right.
The police informed Zhou Jieying’s family on their son’s detention, and after hearing the story, they came to Yue Ran to apologise and beg for them to form a memorandum of understanding.
Yue Shizhong exploded upon hearing such a request.
What memorandum of understanding bullshit. He heard from Xiujie and others before on how that damned child got away with the first medicine incident because of his parents. The parents must be very careless if they could allow their son to misuse the medicine to this degree!
As he was finally level-headed, and about to chase away the ‘guests’, he felt a bone-chilling aura expanding, causing him to take a half step back.
Jiang Xiao thoughtfully walked out of the ward, closed the door behind him, and stood in the corridor looking at these people, saying indifferently, “Ran Ran is sleeping, you guys should leave.”
The four people felt the numbing sensation on their scalps, smiled forcefully and said, “Then could we…come in and have a seat?”
“We’re heading to sleep as well.” Jiang Xiao said.
The four people wanted to break in and meet Yue Ran’s parents, but they didn’t have the guts to do so due to their instinctive tendencies, so they finally left the get-well gifts at the door with an apologetic smile and resentfully left.
Without even looking at them, Jiang Xiao turned and entered the room with a calm face. “They’re gone.”
Yue Shizhong: “…”
Jiang Xiao recalled the reluctant expression on those four people’s faces and knew as people from this city, they have some connections. They would get Zhou Jieying out using their connections. So he contacted his father directly, “Please send me Mr. Qiu’s contact, yes, our lawyer.”
Father Jiang was quiet for a second and asked, “Could you tell me why?”
Jiang Xiao gave a brief account of what happened.
Mr. Jiang was more than happy. After they ended the call, he sent the number to his son, then went to pass the event to his wife. The two had the same idea—Yue Ran’s estrus period this time would be very difficult, which their son might have to accompany the youth through. So how could they not be present in this situation? Even if just taking that damned child into consideration, they should at least be present to utilise their power.
So the two called their son back and informed him they were coming to check on Yue Ran.
Jiang Xiao declined, “No need.”
Mr. Jiang said, “There is, I have a classmate who is a known leader in the T City.”
Jiang Xiao said, “You guys should come then.”
Satisfied, Mr. Jiang booked a flight for tomorrow afternoon, intending to spend the morning arranging his work and then rushing straight to T City.
Yue Ran was completely unaware that he was about to meet his future in-laws.
He didn’t have much of an appetite after he finished the apple. He laid down on the bed and dazedly fell asleep, but he didn’t sleep well, it was as if his restlessness surrounded him, causing nightmares after nightmares. He woke up crying in the middle of the night.
Yue Ran’s small shoulders trembling from his sobs. “I dreamed that…that doctor was an actor you guys hired. And Jiang Xiao in fact, removed his receiver secretly…”
He made a sharp pause, and turned to his mother. “Is that true?”
Deng Ling: “…”
She regretted neglecting her son during his younger years, her husband practically raised Yue Ran. The effect was too deep-rooted.
When Yue Ran saw no answer from his mother, he cried even harder.
Deng Ling had no result after soothing him for a long time, and noticed that his pheromones were getting thicker, so she hastily called the doctor.
Next door, Yue Shizhong and Jiang Xiao were awakened by the alarm and rushed into the room. Jiang Xiao had a shot of S-type suppressant earlier and had no problem sleeping, but when he smelled this captivating pheromone, he felt that the effect of the suppressant was immediately nullified.
After the doctor’s examination, there was no way to suppress it, so the doctor had to have Jiang Xiao take another bite.
Yue Ran calmed down slowly and soon passed out again. The doctor read the data from the equipment, hooked the youth up to an IV, gestured for them to follow him out and said sincerely, “His reaction is too severe, my advice is that since he has a partner, it is best to let them spend time together.”
An omega’s first heat wasn’t something that would go away just by using a suppressant, it had to happen someday.
The first heat often lasted for seven days and there were several peaks during that time, so it would be a real ordeal for both the omega inside and the alpha out here.
Deng Ling was silent for two seconds and nodded. “Okay, I understood.”
Yue Shizhong: “…”
Wait, what do you mean you understood?
He looked quietly at his wife, seeing her going back to the room, he immediately followed her.
Deng Ling turned back at him and said, “Go get some sleep.”
Yue Shizhong looked very aggravated. “…Okay.”
Jiang Xiao: “…”
All right, he could probably guess which one of them his darling took after.
Author has something to say:
Feng Zhuohao has been the subject of conversation in the comments lately, so a brief response.
That’s all his part in the main story, if there are any more, it would be in extra. Parenthesis, just maybe, end parenthesis with a smile.
I wrote about this person who is also able to smell Yue Ran’s pheromone mainly for backing up on the rare instance. Since, it has to be a high gene alpha after all, not some passerby B. Then, the idea gave birth to this person, thinking maybe I would only use him in this setting, so I didn’t spend much time on him, since he is not related to the game at all~
Finally, after the ruo marked each other, it will be the double battle tournament, so the main story would probably end in a chapter or two =W=
Thanks for the chapter

thank you for the chapter!!
I am so impressed that the author made a “scientific” explanation on what’s up with YR’s pheromones and why JX would be attracted to it rather than using the typical “it’s because they’re soulmates/100% compatible” or even the explanation YR thought of which was basically “because true love”. I mean, I would still enjoy it if it had used the cliche tropes but I think doing it this way makes this ABO world feel less fantastical and more scifi. Kudos to the author!
Agree! I love when authors do that
Agree!! I really love the abo settings the author made.
+3 agree with upstairs 👍✨
Agree! Love the setting
+1 agree it sounds more believable
Such a nice second alpha. Hope he finds a nice omega elsewhere… Thanks for the update ❤️🤣
Thanks for the chapter!! The main story is ending T^T At least there’s still extras, I’m not ready to finish this story T^T
Thanks for the chapter ♥️♥️
Thank you for the update ❤️💯
… well, certainly not the father
Thanks for the chapter! Yeah, the mom is definitely the leader, lol.
Ah crap, I have caught up!
I would like a whole story centered around FZH please.
thanks for the chapter <3
Ran Ran can intimidate other alphas so OP!
Thank you for the chapter!
My dreams of a 3P destroyed by an author’s note
Thanks for the chapter ❤️❤️
thanks for the chapter!
Poor dad. Go marry of your son, no objections allowed. 😅
I swear Deng Ling is the alpha. 😂
I think Ran Ran being a somewhat pseudo-alpha could be related by the fact that one side of his family are majorly alphas and he’s the only omega according to what Xiujie said before
Oh that is a better theory than what I spewed last chapter! 👍
And I can’t with Mama Yue thinking RanRan dramatic overthinking side is due to Papa Yue deep rooted upbringing (ahem, initial reason of Anonymous Guardian existence) 🤣🤣.
hahaha, the poor police captain… hoping he finds his legendary genetic match!
(●♡∀♡) KYAAAH!! IT’S HAPPENING!! (♡ω♡ ) ~♪
