I know that this story isn’t too much on the side of angst so maybe I’m misinterpreting but I can understand why he’s doing what he’s doing. I mean, we know what ML is thinking. What he only knows it that ML can follow him, that he is one of the most advanced actors with huge power and that he loves him. When I’m inserting myself in place of MC I think I’d be ecstatic about this situation I-was-alone-for-so-long-but-now-I-have-someone-who-loves-me-so-much. But what is stopping me is that ML is an Actor. Really good actor. And maybe I’m just projecting but I’d be too second checking his words about what he feels for me, like, what if he’s only playing with me? Moreover they’re complete strangers in Fan Yuan’s point of view, there hasn’t been any explanations to what made Yan Rui fall for him.
They have a huge gap in terms of power too to top it all. The points reduction in one world was enough to make Fan Yuan despair and couldn’t afford to leave to the next world immediately, yet Yan Rui is powerful enough to control the system, preventing point reduction even after he messed up so many plots.
All in all, it seems like Fan Yuan is only trying to protect himself from feeling hurt, while gauging Yan Rui’s sincerity. I’m glad he’s not completely indifferent towards Yan Rui. (and our black-bellied ML really was in need for a taste of his own medicine haha)

It makes sense if he was the demon king…. IMO. But I still think he managed to bend the male lead anyway lol.
Now the first world, Gao Yu esp did nothing wrong…ML didn’t awaken until the very end..but his subconscious self still treated MC with sincerity until the moment he hurts him according to the plot. Read the extra again, he wanted to give him a different answer but the plot immediately fixed itself so he walked away after spitting those words. And at the end he awakens as his true self, after that he can no longer be binded by an insignificant plot and i think he even hates it cause it caused him to lose Fan Yuan the first time. That was long but yeah ppl don’t be so fixated on only blaming the ML for everything every single damn time, look you even heard Fan Yuan and his system right? they’re all about the plot..so how was ML able to be true to him, so ofc he hid his identity in world three as Fang Xu. And a little while as Pei Qi and thats about it. He’s a schemer no doubt, just look at Fang Xu..but his heart is sincere towards MC. MC himself was already bent in the first world with Gao Yu but he didn’t know it..and to this day he still doesn’t trust the ML because his system kept reminding him to follow the plot or else..he still doesn’t realized that the ML has a solution cause they still haven’t talked heart to heart and be honest with each other yet. And FY is especially cautious cause Fang Xu in his desperation tricked him in world three. Yan Rui himself never loved anybody before so ofc he sucked in his courting, thats why he listens to Gui La in the last world and tries to be sincere to him..but MC went ahead yet again to die. Yan Rui himself still suffers from a trauma of MC’s death in the first world (look again at MC’s death scene each world), ofc he is angry at the plot. Just because most people are biased towards every MC, they also failed to picked up on the other male lead sometimes, in other novels as well. Just because they have an intense character don’t be so quick to hate the male lead gongs. If it was an MC im sure most would be biased even with a black bellied shou mc. People just loves to hate on the gong charas as if they really took them as those males from hetero novels which they usually hate and would love to criticised their every little faults to a T (cough misandrists). For me, i see two men who are equal in my eyes, occasionally one or two would sometimes have a few screws loose and showed an extremely annoying trait sometimes (those scum gongs but later redeemed type lol) but at the end these two men are made for each other anyway and would still be tgt cause their creator said so, nothing we say will change that. Sorry its so long. Yes, this is coming from an ‘always biased towards every MC person’. I figured i should reflect on my flaws sometimes and gives those gongs a chance..cause danmei is all about two male leads yeah.

I agree with you that it’s frustrating haha. And I can’t believe he forgot that he was confessed to. But tbh, if you said to someone to leave you alone, then he should be happy to be left alone. Otherwise, it’s like entertaining a stalker. I do appreciate that ML is giving him space this time, I myself don’t like to be pestered by anyone. MC has to realize it himself.
