As the cries of the old man drifted over, the few officers halfway through their smokes pinched the cigarette ends between their thumbs and index fingers and looked over.

Gu Xizhou could hear his dog son continually barking through the door, and as soon as he opened the door, he saw his dog son wagging his tail happily and trying to get out. Fortunately, Gu Xizhou was quick to grab hold of him.
“Stop running, come back!” Carrying the dog in one arm, Gu Xizhou closed the door and put the dog down in the house.
Gu Ji Ji wrote on the notepad: You’ve come back. How’s the situation?
Entering the house, Gu Xizhou responded, “It’s okay. Our efforts weren’t wasted — we’ve found the murderer.”

Xiang Yuan looked at the television in the house strangely, “Wow, don’t you turn off the TV when you go out?”
Gu Xizhou, “…… I forgot.”

“All right, let’s get everything set up! I’m starving!” One of them urged.
A few of the guys set up the induction cooker and set out some wine, and they ate while cooking.
After everybody was full, Gu Xizhou sent them all downstairs before stopping Fang Zhi and asking in a low voice, “How much time do you have left?”
Fang Zhi took a moment to check the floating countdown timer before whispering, “20 hours left……”
Gu Xizhou said, “Okay, I’ve got it. Tomorrow’s a holiday, so there’s no need to change shifts. I’ll pick you up at 10 tomorrow morning and drive to Si Yu’s.”
“Okay.” Fang Zhi’s face was a little red from drinking, so Gu Xizhou told him to be careful before sending him into the car of a female colleague who had not had any alcohol.
Putting his hands in his pockets, Gu Xizhou got home and found everything on the table cleaned up, with sounds of water in the kitchen. Gu Xizhou leaned against the wall and teased, “Ji Ji, you’re really a helpful elf. You’ve even done all the dishes!”

Not that I remember, no. Doggo will forever be referred to as either “dog son” or “doggo”.
And yay to Si Yu finally showing up! People were starting to forget about him, which is really something when you’re the actual ML…… (aka, the unfortunate case where everybody is shipping your wife with his own body over you, the rightful husband)
At least ML still appears regularly in this novel, unlike the ML from I Become A God In Horror Games who just appeared once and that’s also just a few pharagraphs so far. I think the readers has forgotten he’s exist and instead CPing MC with other man. 😂😂😂

I’d say that Gu Ji Ji’s actually quite okay with it because:
1) It’s implied that he’s not looking for a relationship.
2) It’s implied that he’d find it weird to be with his own body.
3) He gets a happy ending too, don’t worry!
I wasn’t talking about a relationship, though? I just meant that all his friends have welcomed the fake and no one seems to have realized that anything was odd at all. I think if I were Gu Ji Ji, no matter how much I didn’t mind someone using my body, I’d be sad if no one noticed anything.
Oh, oops. Yes, I definitely agree. I was honestly quite surprised that nobody noticed anything off about Gu Xizhou despite his obvious lack of professional knowledge, for one, and the distinct personality differences, for another. Even Gu Ji Ji’s supposed closest friends Fang Zhi and Xiang Yuan didn’t notice, and that’s really saying something! I’d be really sad too if I were Gu Ji Ji unless it was a side effect from the sacrificial ritual to make everything reasonable for the common man (and there doesn’t seem to be any evidence for this).
It could also be because Gu Ji Ji and the MC has similar personalities and hobbies except Gu Ji Ji being a workaholics and likes to smoke? I mean, if someone I know starts to act strange, the first thing I would think is that he turned into a new leaf or maybe had some sort of realization. Police officers are bunch of realists and a follower of science, very few of them would think about ghosts and possessions.
I honestly thought Gu Ji Ji was the male lead haha. I feel like he has more screen time with Gu Xizhou than Si Yu. If you ever write a oneshot about Gu Ji Ji and Gu Xizhou, perhaps a scene where Gu Xizhou can see Gu Ji Ji? Or maybe being able to sleep in the same bed, like Gu Xizhou makes Gu Ji Ji corporeal with his demonic powers. Thank you for the chapter 🙂

It makes me feel like he was a pretty serious person when he was still alive. Plus, instead of just 2 human players as the couple, I find it much more interesting for there to be 1 human + one ghost for the main couple honestly.
